We were in such a hurry to get to Epcot that I failed to double check when our ADR was scheduled. It was actually later than I thought by about 15 minutes so we rushed for nothing.
After check in for our 7:40pm ADR, we were given a pager and told we had a 15 minute wait. The waiting area is shared for both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining. This was the first time that we were there for Tokyo Dining since our past ADRs were for Teppan Edo. I thought this was a good chance to try someplace new while still satisfying our Japanese food craving. After about a 15 minute wait true to their estimate - we were seated at a table for 2 near the back corner of the restaurant. This is not a large place and it is open and spacious. We had a perfect view overlooking the lagoon even though we were not at a window seat.
Pretty napkin art:
Our waitress presented us with hot wet towels to freshen up before our meal. I hope this wasn't a hint that we were presenting ourselves in a slovenly manner and needed some wipe down!
Sorry for the blurry photo....
The menu had a great selection of entrees and appetizers. I wasnt that hungry so I ordered the grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce . Em ordered the tempura shrimp & veggie dinner.
All washed up and ready to eat:
My grilled chicken was excellent! It was cooked to perfection not too dry and with the sauce on the side. It was served with steamed rice, green beans, carrots, and broccoli all were cooked to perfection! Em shared one of her shrimp and it was very good. She also had me try the seaweed salad stuff and I cant say that I am as complimentary on that! Ick!

Tempura meal:
We both declined dessert they dont have anything on the dessert menu that appeals to my tastes. However, our lovely server brought out a slice of chocolate/ginger cake with a candle and a pink origami heart for Ems birthday. How very nice!
b-day dessert!
Illuminations started at 9pm and we watched most of the show from our table until
.. now heres where I insert a note about how basically humanity is good and decent but sometimes people are just mean. A lady and her daughter were seated at a window table near us and had exited the door behind us to watch Illuminations. Other people, including some young kids had been in and out the door but I hadn't paid attention since my back was to them. During the show we thought we heard a knock on the window not the door, but the window - and looked over our shoulder but couldnt see anything since the window is mirrorized. We heard knocking a minute later and some CM opened the door and the lady came in, looked right at Em and yelled at her how incredibly rude of you to leave us out there. We were shocked! First of all, we didnt know anyone was locked out there since we cant see out and we would expect a sign to say dont leave because the door locks behind you and secondly, why yell at my kid? Em just sat there and didnt say anything and I responded to the lady and said, I'm so sorry." (Yeah, I apologized), further I said, "We didnt know. If we had known you were locked out we would have let you in but we cant see out. I wanted to say more but the lady ignored us and wouldnt look our way. Just as well since nothing positive was going to become of that conversation!

Em just wanted to leave and since we had already paid the bill we departed. What a sour note to an otherwise pleasant evening.
In the end, we compared our preferences and I preferred Teppan Edo while Em preferred Tokyo Dining. The bill was $53.51 with $10.37 in TiW discount.
Note: Later when I checked my receipt I found that we had been overcharged for Ems dinner. The menu says $23.95 for the tempura dinner and we were charged $26.95! It is only $3 but the point here is that Tokyo Dining was overcharging everyone who ordered that meal! (And perhaps other menu items that ring up higher than the posted menu prices??) We went back the next day and called this to the attention of the Manager, Brian, who said that he would correct it. He refunded my $3 plus tax.
here's my proof. sure hope they fix this "glitch"
