Sweet 16 celebrated with Mickey & Pals-9 days of TiW dining: Completed 6/14

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the sandwich is no longer on the menu. When we went in April, I was planning on ordering it but nope...no longer served. I just double checked the menu on the Disney Dining website and it's not on there either. The menu is as of 3/12. Sorry! Maybe if we complain enough, they will bring it back!

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...TreeTavern/liberty-tree-tavern-menu-lunch.pdf

The cheese curds and the Tri Corner were my favorite things at LTT and the reason we visited every trip. I'm not sure we'll be returning.

I'm curious what exactly the new sandwich on the menu looks like, though.

I'm LOVING your reviews! Reading about your mother and daughter trip makes me want to go on one with my mom so badly! Looks like so much fun! :goodvibes Can't wait for more reviews!

I just added LTT this week for our upcoming trip and I am really glad I did. I love both the sandwich and the pot roast. As for the Ooey Gooey Cake... I admit that I get it with the ice cream and than plop it off to the side. I like just a bit of the melty ice cream on mine!

Can't wait for your Tokyo Dining review ... we are planning on trying it for the first time in August!

I like your idea of a little melty ice-cream on the cake.

I'll post Tokyo Dining tonight. :goodvibes

Oh and as for the WCC skillet - I definitely have no desire to eat fatty ick meat... this is falling lower on my dining list!

I've always wanted to try the Tri-Corner sandwich but I'm wondering is it hot or cold? It looks delicious.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts about Tokyo Dining.

The sandwich is cold. But... the fries are hot! ;)

I am beyond gutted about the Tavern Fried Cheese at LTT

Having drooled over those little fried cheese bites for many years, we were planning to visit for the first time this year, just to have the fried cheese and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake.

Guess we'll have to make time for a visit to Bob Evans instead since they do a similar appetiser ;)

Glad you enjoyed your meal :thumbsup2

Looking at the current menu I'm having a hard time being excited over much. I like to eat light at lunch so I may need to split something. However, I will always have room for the ooey gooey toffee cake! I've never been to a Bob Evans so I'll have to keep an eye out during my travels for that.

The Tri-Corner Sandwich looks delicious. I really need to try LTT for lunch!

:) It really was a favorite for the last 3 trips. :thumbsup2

So disappointing! :sad1: Thanks for sharing that information. It looks like Allears and such need to update their menus. Darn!

At least the pot roast and ooey gooey toffee cake are still available. :rolleyes1 I may get a side of fries and cake and call it a meal!

Thank you! Awwwww... yes the mother/daughter trips are so very special to me. Especially since my DD is the last one in the nest! Hope you get some mama/daughter magical memories. :wizard:

Thanks for reading.

We were in such a hurry to get to Epcot that I failed to double check when our ADR was scheduled. It was actually later than I thought by about 15 minutes so we rushed for nothing. :rolleyes1

After check in for our 7:40pm ADR, we were given a pager and told we had a 15 minute wait. The waiting area is shared for both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining. This was the first time that we were there for Tokyo Dining since our past ADRs were for Teppan Edo. I thought this was a good chance to try someplace new while still satisfying our Japanese food craving. After about a 15 minute wait – true to their estimate - we were seated at a table for 2 near the back corner of the restaurant. This is not a large place and it is open and spacious. We had a perfect view overlooking the lagoon even though we were not at a window seat.

Pretty napkin art:

Our waitress presented us with hot wet towels to freshen up before our meal. I hope this wasn't a hint that we were presenting ourselves in a slovenly manner and needed some wipe down!

Sorry for the blurry photo....

The menu had a great selection of entrees and appetizers. I wasn’t that hungry so I ordered the grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce . Em ordered the tempura shrimp & veggie dinner.

All washed up and ready to eat:
DSC09595.jpg

My grilled chicken was excellent! It was cooked to perfection – not too dry and with the sauce on the side. It was served with steamed rice, green beans, carrots, and broccoli – all were cooked to perfection! Em shared one of her shrimp and it was very good. She also had me try the seaweed salad stuff and I can’t say that I am as complimentary on that! Ick!

Tempura meal:

We both declined dessert – they don’t have anything on the dessert menu that appeals to my tastes. However, our lovely server brought out a slice of chocolate/ginger cake with a candle and a pink origami heart for Em’s birthday. How very nice!

b-day dessert!

Illuminations started at 9pm and we watched most of the show from our table until….. now here’s where I insert a note about how basically humanity is good and decent but sometimes people are just mean. A lady and her daughter were seated at a window table near us and had exited the door behind us to watch Illuminations. Other people, including some young kids had been in and out the door but I hadn't paid attention since my back was to them. During the show we thought we heard a knock on the window – not the door, but the window - and looked over our shoulder but couldn’t see anything since the window is mirrorized. We heard knocking a minute later and some CM opened the door and the lady came in, looked right at Em and yelled at her – “how incredibly rude of you to leave us out there.” We were shocked! First of all, we didn’t know anyone was “locked” out there since we can’t see out and we would expect a sign to say don’t leave because the door locks behind you and secondly, why yell at my kid? Em just sat there and didn’t say anything and I responded to the lady and said, “I'm so sorry." (Yeah, I apologized), further I said, "We didn’t know. If we had known you were locked out we would have let you in but we can’t see out.” I wanted to say more but the lady ignored us and wouldn’t look our way. Just as well since nothing positive was going to become of that conversation! Em just wanted to leave and since we had already paid the bill we departed. What a sour note to an otherwise pleasant evening.

DSC09619.jpg

In the end, we compared our preferences and I preferred Teppan Edo while Em preferred Tokyo Dining. The bill was $53.51 with $10.37 in TiW discount.

Note: Later when I checked my receipt I found that we had been overcharged for Em’s dinner. The menu says $23.95 for the tempura dinner and we were charged $26.95! It is only $3 but the point here is that Tokyo Dining was overcharging everyone who ordered that meal! (And perhaps other menu items that ring up higher than the posted menu prices??) We went back the next day and called this to the attention of the Manager, Brian, who said that he would correct it. He refunded my $3 plus tax.

here's my proof. sure hope they fix this "glitch"

Wow Ive been meaning to try Tokoyo DIning, looks great! Im so sorry Em goy yelled at by an insane woman.. PPL are so rude now a days, I remember when WDW wasnt like that but unfortunately your seeing it more and more..I just dont get it, Id say its upbringing but alot of the times its the adults showing there.. you know whats..

Really glad we are planning on trying Tokyo Dining this trip. We are not sushi overs, but all like tempura. And your chicken looks really good!

Can you see Illuminations from all of the tables in the restaurant, even if you are not at the window? I am debating trying to make a time that we will still be there or making one early enough that we are done and can step outside.

Great review of Tokyo Dining! I'm glad that you had such a nice experience there (other than the locked out woman). It sounds like it's definitely a restaurant that I'm going to put on my radar. I love tempura! Good catch on the incorrect pricing :thumbsup2 - I never would have noticed something like that and hopefully they'll get that corrected now.

Tokyo Dining sounds so good! Great review! :) I have only been to Teppan Edo before but I may have to try it next time! I'm sorry that Em got yelled at by that lady... some people can be so rude but I'm glad that it didn't effect your evening too much! :goodvibes

Wow, Tokyo Dining (being a picky eater) is probably one place I would have never considered but your grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce looked lovely. I have no more room for additional restaurants in August  Hmmm, unless we went for lunch and shared an entree

What a shame that a weird/rude woman put a dampener on your evening.

Another DISer here who has only been to Teppan Edo. We have always had great experiences here. There is just something about using chopsticks that makes picky eaters try new things!! My sister, however, is a HUGE sushi lover and is always begging to do Tokyo Dining. Maybe on our next visit! :) Thanks for the great reviews and pics!

I am so glad you posted your review of Turf Club when you did! Right after DH and I checked into SSR last week I was on here checking out your DR and saw the picture of that horrible looking chicken. I didn't like the look of the menu this time anyway, but DH really wanted to eat at Turf Club since we were staying at the resort. I held up my phone to DH and showed him the chicken and said, "No Way!" What a shame that you wasted a meal and cab fare on that.

Turf Club was one of my favorites when it first opened and the last couple of years the menu has gone steadily downhill. I used to love it so much that I even put a picture of me there in my signature. Guess I need to change that! :rotfl:Even though we were staying at SSR I couldn't bring myself to eat at the hotel when WPE is a short walk away! Sorry you had a bad meal there, but thank you for saving me from one! :thumbsup2

Yeah... we were over it fairly quickly but boy did it annoy me. You should try Tokyo Dining since they have great food and such phenomenal service. :goodvibes

I don't eat sushi either but I LOVE tempura. As for Illuminations, we were in the second row of tables from the window. Since the room is open and spacious with a bank of large windows facing the lake most, if not all, of the tables should have a view of the show.

Thanks! :goodvibes It was so good that we are returning in August as well.

I should have looked at my receipt when I paid for the meal! But when I looked at it the next day I saw that it was different than the menu price...I did proofing for analytic reports in the past so validating numbers is one of my talents! :scratchin

Thank you for reading - glad I could share! We had been to Teppan Edo a couple time and the food is always terrific so we wanted to try the other side of the restaurant for Tokyo Dining. Thanks for the sympathy with the ahem, situation. :goodvibes

You could order the grilled chicken without any sauce as well and it would be terrific! The grilled veggies were really good. It's really a healthy dining option. Heck, it you can't make it in August, there's always another trip to plan! :thumbsup2

I like the way you put that - chopsticks makes it more adventuresome!! ::yes:: Thanks for reading. :goodvibes

If want a more laid back dining experience and still enjoy the delicious Japanese food, Tokyo Dining is such a great option.

Hi there! That's so funny that you have a photo next to the Turf Club sign in your signature! :p I bet they do have some decent food on the menu..... or it could have been an off night?? :confused3 I saw some of the desserts being served and they really looked amazing - especially a fruit cobbler.

We are trying WPE next trip for the first time - I'm excited because I've seen some good reviews so I'm glad that you endorse it!

This was my opportunity to give Captain's Grille another chance since our first dining experience for breakfast in 2010 was less than stellar. During our first visit service was poor and the food was less than tasty. But hey, I was willing to give it a second chance since so many people have had good reviews here.

We took a taxi to Yacht Club with plenty of time for our 8:45am ADR. There were several people being accommodated for walk-up seating. This was the busiest that I had seen this restaurant – perhaps they have had some positive changes since we were last here.

We checked-in and were immediately seated. Susan was our server and was very friendly and provided great service (in stark contrast to last time.) This was a great start.

We knew they had an extensive buffet ($16.99 per person) so I checked it out before I made my choice. Em had already decided she wanted the buffet. In the end, I wasn’t that hungry to partake in the buffet so I ordered the French toast off of the breakfast menu. Hopefully, this would be one meal for which I could leave without feeling like I had a food baby for the rest of the morning!

So back to our order....
Our drinks arrived promptly – again, the opposite of last time. Susan even brought Em some milk for her cereal quickly. I’m thinking I like this place now!

DSC09692.jpg

My French toast was served as 3 slices with cinnamon-maple butter. I had asked for a scrambled egg instead of breakfast meat. When the food runner brought my dish, he said French toast no meat. I said, thank you but I requested a scrambled egg instead of the meat. Susan was nearby and promptly brought out the scrambled eggs. The cinnamon-maple butter was too cold to spread on the French toast so I gave up and used some whipped butter from the buffet – but I think it would have been a nice addition to the dish.

DSC09697.jpg

Em liked the buffet and I wondered if she’s really my kid because she didn’t over indulge – even in the presence of all of those delicious choices. Susan brought Em out a chocolate cupcake with a candle and garnished with a large strawberry.

DSC09703.jpg

The bill was $27.85 with $5.40 in TiW savings. So will I go back? Yes, this place definitely redeemed itself. In fact, it is on our ADR list for August.

I'm now hooked on your review!! We did Kona last year so I did not put it our our schedule. But now, that might all change!! We did the eggs ben & have yet to try those sweet breakfasts. They look: :cloud9:

We are doing a split stay AOA & SSR & I was wondering about TC. Thanks for the honest review. I'm glad I'm not booking it! w/ DTD across the water, we have many choices.

I have to tell you LTT used to be my fav. but our last trip the hostess was rude to many people, including myself. Our server never came around,to fix issues or refill drinks.Never got extra napkins we asked for for our DS1. & never celebrated my parents anniversary. + There was NO strawberry dressing on my salad![& server nowhere to be found] The entire reason why I LOVED dinner there. I didn't complain b/c we had the very merry Christmas party & didn't want to spoil the mood. Tis year LTT is off our list. They need to get it together there.

Wow the grilled chicken looks awesome @ TD!!!
I loved my meal @ CG @ dinner a few years ago. Scallops. I don't think they have it anymore, but dinner was very good!

Can't wait to read more!!

Wow, I had no idea there was a buffet at Captain's Grille. I assumed it was a CS location for some reason.:confused3 The food looks really good there and the price is definitely right.:thumbsup2 I will have to keep that in mind for my next trip. Thanks so much for the great review and pics! :goodvibes

happy2012

I agree that the food at Capt. Grille looks yummy. We might have to try this one in Nov. also. Although, at this rate we will be eating & not doing anything else.

Regarding LTT, like Happy2012, this used to be a must do for our family of 6, until the 2 visits ago. The service was poor, the food was not hot, or that tasty. But, we decided to give it another shot the following visit, and will NOT be giving it another chance. I had 2 drinks spilled on me. TWO! Our waiter barely apologized. The second time he made it seem like it was my fault. :confused3 I guess I shouldn't have been sitting leaning to the right as he reached to put my drink left side. :confused3 then after all that, the food wasn't that great. not warm....again. Plus, he started to drop one of the dishes ( i forget which one) on my youngest daughter. Spilling food all over my plate. hahaha really is laughable. My kids were horrified. They are always saying to me & my DH not to say anything, or send anything back, they would be embarrassed. This time they were like.... you should talk to the manager. We didn't. Live and learn. The waiter maybe had things on his mind that were more important than my meal. Who knows.

I think we ALL had the same service @ LTT.:lmao:
It's so disappointing to hear this happens so often. I crave that strawberry dressing but it's not enough after these reviews.:confused3
