Swap ideas for the new year (2007)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention which type of swaps I'm interested in.

I'd like some Bazzill page kit swaps,:

hey, we did that one together before, right? you did purple, I think....and I did pink!

Yes, we did! Boy and you remeber what color I had, you have a good memory! I'm such a Bazzill freak, but it doesn't specifically have to be a color swap. Just anything with Bazzill or Basic Grey, Chatterbox etc. :teeth:

Buffy - you are exactly who I had in mind when I said Swap Goddess! LOL! Great minds think alike. I didn't want to come right out and say I think Buffy should be the swap goddess, in case I stepped on any toes. And a back up Goddess is a great idea too. :) We'll need to get you a little crown or something. :goodvibes

I think having a kit swap, element swap and embellie swap (or mixed up as needed) per month is a great idea. That is still plenty of swaps and hopefully no one will get overwelmed with anything. ETA: Although, I think that maybe we should limit it to no more than 2 page kit swaps per month. Maybe even 2 element swaps if the groups are large too.

The flaker (gosh, I hate to call it, but maybe "Be aware of" ) list is also a good idea, but I think it should remain private. It's a good thing to have though so a hostess will be able to keep on top of a swapper who has a tendancy towards flaking.

What about setting some due date ground rules too? Like maybe Due dates are firm and hostesses will only wait for 1 week for stragglers and then swap. I think it would probably help to have set time limits for each and every swap. WDYT?

Thanks for the vote of confidence  I already have a princess crown if that helps. :teeth:

I agree that the flaker list should be private as well. I know we all know who can be late or what ever but it could be for reasons other than lack of discipline or being overwhelmed. it could be a personal issue that should be kept private. I would never betray that confidence either.

I don't think I would do more than one kit per month unless it is really small. I don't really see anything being small with this group though.

Yes due dates should be firm with a week delay, we can't help the postal service sometimes. Especially where I live, it can take a while depending on how many people are at the post office to sort mail. It's usually 2 or 3 during the holidays. See I really do live in Blink and you miss it. LOL

Everyone should check in weekly too. And if you are going on Vacation please let the hostess know or the swap goddesses. I personally would be even more firm on a time line if a holiday is looming too. I don't know about ya'll but my house is really really small and I can't have 40 swap packages in the same space as 25 house guests.

This all sounds great. . .gee, I don't check in for an hour, and the thread doubles! :rotfl2:

Buffy, don't forget that you'll need a feather boa to go with your crown! :wizard:

HHMM what color should I choose? Pink or Red? :rotfl2:

I like the idea of not having too many swaps on any persons plate at one time although if we are going to tapper down the number of people on each swap we may want to allow a few swaps but encourage people to only sign up for a certain number per month.

Another way to keep the group sizes small is to have a limit of say 3 or 4 groups per hostess and if the swap needs to get larger have a second hostess step up to recieve the remaining groups- of course this could mean more mailing if people were in a number of groups but it would keep people from having millions of boxes in their houses waiting to be swapped.

Another way to keep them small is to limit the number of groups people can sign up for- many of the embelishment swaps have said you can sign up for this much at first and then can step into empty slots.

i would like to participate in the flower swap. any embellishment swap sounds good to me too. and the oriental trading one...i would do. basically, anything where i can just buy stuff for, i would do. (it's the easiest for me, and no stress!) but for some swap where i have to make things...i try to only sign up during the summer time, unless it's something i really want, like a dcl stuff, maybe? :flower:

We can always do a round 2 later in the year also.

This is a good idea, a popular swap could be split into hostess groups. Every hostess send her mailing instructions to her groups. Then the groups stay small for each hostess, and new groups could open to accomodate the popularity, but no one person gets the task of the big mailings...

Swap Goddess, is this do-able? I would like to host, but the groups lately have been so big, I know I would never be able to do it. So, if anyone wants help, keep me in mind. I would love to get my hostess feet wet by co-hosting.

I prefer elements rather than page kits. I find the page kits seem overwhelming sometimes.

I'd like to host an Epcot Swap again.. small 2 groups.. elements only.. due in Feb...
I'd like to host a musical event swap, examples, Tarzan, Lion King, etc.. element only
I'd like to see a puzzle piece swap if there was interest or a slide mount only swap... or a tag only swap...
I'd like to see a few kid related swaps... like sports or kid events like a music program (general theme)...

ETA: What about a season swap?

Hey, I have lots of likes don't I..
Hey, Buffy, we need your PIZZA BOX swap definitely!!!!
What is a pizza box swap?
How would a puzzle piece swap work?

Thank you so much for organizing all the ideas and putting them on the first page. That is so great to just look at all the ideas in one place.

I'd like to add that I'd like to hostess a Tag or single element of your choice with boy/girl themes. There is some really great paper out there that isn't really holiday, or themepark specific. And doing a boy/girl would give us some items for everyday layouts.

Nancy, I'll be your back up. I could meet you halfway and then you can don't have repack anything you've already sorted.

good morning :surfweb:

i don't make it over here quite as often as i'd like too and i'm missing out! i am becoming very addicted to the swaps here, what i participated in this year has been nothing but postive! now, i will say i haven't actually SCRAPPED anything yet? LOL does that matter? :rotfl: i'm rounding off a HUGE remodeling project that has consumed my free time since june 1; and then i'm ready to crop away! so, that said, here are my interests for the coming year:

Pets (dogs)
Secret Sister
DCL
prima flowers
pizza box
color swaps or brand specific swaps
embellishments

now i'll have to review my pictures to determine what else i'll be cropping to catch up!

i'm more than willing to co-host a swap since they are getting big if that's the route you go.

Very do-able, it's just like the swap that Nancy and Brooke co-hosted Rides and Lands. They were due at the same time but one went to Nancy and one went to Brooke.

Seriously, I love all the ideas being generated! I look forward to the new year! :thumbsup2

Hey we're just trying to make the mods lives easier! We are all adults here and need to be responsible. If we take out all the confusion then there is no excuses right? :teeth:
Plus the SA is only a seasonal thing. ;) After the holidays we can fall off the wagon.

The pizza box swap is where I will fill a box with scrap stuff I don't use and then I would send it on to someone who s next on the list, say Nancy, and she takes out anything she wants and adds stuff she doesn't. Then she mails it on. Kind of like a circle journal. When it gets back to me we can either do it again or I can donate to items to Girl scouts, Make a wish, etc...

the puzzle swap is the hostess would buy as many puzzles as there are swappers say 9. those 9 people would be assigned 1 piece, the same for all the puzzles. The hostess would send you your pieces you would alter then and send them back. She would then swap them all out and you would get back a competed altered puzzle. Does that make sense? It sounds so much better in my head. :teeth:

Both sound like fun. I recently ditched so much scraps, but would prefer to give them to another worthy scrapper.

Pizza box swap, I am so there! Great way to recycle stuff, and I hate to throw anything away. This is the reason why I have so much STUFF in my craft room...I need a "pizza box" swap for painting surfaces, beading, yarn...the list goes on and on... :teeth:

I went to 2 Peas to check out the puzzle pieces, and they look amazing! I do have a question...we each get the same piece from the from the hostess, and decorate it in the theme we sign up for... We then get the whole puzzle returned each piece altered to a different theme? I'm having a blonde moment this morning  , and just want to clarify.
