Swap ideas for the new year (2007)

I need help from my Goddesses.
How do you want the calendar to look?
If we have multiple swaps signing up and due in the same month how should we decipher the too. Colors? 2 separate calendars in post #1?

My brain is fried right now and I'm dividing my time between 5th grade homework, dinner, and the DIS.

My meds are making me tired now.

I'm leaning towards 2 calendars.

Buffy-I'm thinking of starting sign ups on Jan 15th or so. That way we could get a good 6-8 weeks if anyone needs to order stuff.

UMMMMM...... I think maybe we could do themes like MK for Disney. Then each piece could look differently like a mosaic of the park.

I think 2 colors would make it look like there was more going on at one time- it could either put people in a panic or make them think twice before signing up for too much.

I think A sign-up calandar and a due calandar might be easier to choose what you want.

I think 2 calendars would be best.. this will allow you to let them know what is coming up...and what is closed/actively working.

I'm so glad we have a few months of downtime.. My house needs to be decluttered and caught up so I can devote my time to swapping after the holidays!!

I got back after many people posted ideas for future swaps. I'm still interested in some of the ones I listed a long time ago:
*Pets (dogs and cats separately, and possibly a group for other pets)
*Disney events (such as Food and Wine Festival, Flower and Garden Festival, Candlelight processional, Osborne Lights, MVMCP, MNSSHP, etc).
*Parades and Shows
*Extinct Attractions (Skyway; 20,000 Leagues; Mr. Toad's Wild Ride; Horizons, World of Motion, and Life at Epcot, etc.)
*Also, would love to do more Holiday and Epcot swaps.
*I might be interested in a DCL CJ.

Element swaps are fine. If we did more page swaps, I would prefer not necessarily having to do photo mats or frames, rather maybe just being able to choose any 2 to 4 elements from a list of options. Another option that is similar to a page swap would be to list colors for each group/theme and each person in that group would do an element using those colors (wouldn't necessarily have to be Bazzil).

I like the smaller groups, too.

.... we usually leave sign ups open for a few days to allow time for friends who DIS part time and for those outside the US....

I think it's great that you freely admit that DISing is a full time job for some of you.

I can't visualize the calendar situation - I'm sure whatever you decide will work out.

When we start to talk specifics, I would be willing to host the first newbie park swap with signups at the beginning of January, but I believe Mickeyteacher also said she'd be up for hosting one (on the original thread that inspired this one), so I could host the second one. She gets first "dibs."

For now it will be month to month spreading into quarter to quarter. I'm going to start plugging in some swaps and dates that a few are interested in with sign ups being in Jan and we have some time to be flexible with the due dates before anyone signs up. I think that due dates will be our main focus for now. I don't have all the bugs worked out yet so everyone will have to bear with me.
At this point it will be first come first serve for picking a due date, just like it has always been. We can all work with the hostess to find the best due date for their swap. We can have multiple swaps due in one particular month this is just going to keep a running record of them.

Did that make sense? I'm really tired.....

6 weeks is Feb 26 so I put that on the calendar for now but we can change it if you want.

I think a pizza box swap as soon as it's "allowed" is the best idea ever...especially if it's only Disney stuff. I see so many people complaining about having extra stuff they don't need...especially things like parts of CTM kits that people don't end up using. Yet you know someone can use it...for instance, I know I've got some extra papers from one kit I'm not going to use, but there are papers from other kits I'd love. I was actually thinking of starting an "I have an extra..." thread.

But I'm just a noob

I think that looks really nice. Having the 2 calendars makes it very clear. When things "open for business" it can be tweaked if needed.

calendar(H)- Sign up in Feb Due the end of March
Secret Sister(H) spring/summer Sign up in March and do a package in April and May (I'm thinking of a Mother's day package for the reveal)
Scavenger Hunt (H) Sign ups in June- Due the end of July

How does that sound?
