OMG!!! Me and DH are going on a trip w/o kids over labor day weekend (thur-mon). I called yesterday and got a lakeview deluxe king room with balcony for $99.00 / nite + tax and resort fee!!!! We have only stayed once on site and that was at Ft. Wilderness in a cabin. That was super, but I think I will like the Swan better!!!! I am so excited!!! Can anyone give any ino about the Swan? How far is it to the Boardwalk? Epcot? Disney studios? Any other info is appreciated....I have never even been over to that area!!! I can hardly wait. TIA!!!!!!

You will have all the benefits of the BW area including transportation and a short walk or boat ride to MGM and Epcot. Plus you will have one of those fabulous new heavenly beds!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

The walk to Epcot--5-10 min
The walk to MGM-about 15 min

You are right at the BW---
You will have tons of good restaurants to choose from, be able to stroll the BW every night and day if you want. You won't have charging privileges around Disney however, like you would when you stay at a WDW resort, but if you can live without that, who cares?????

The rooms are pretty spacious and I think abit more fancy than some of the WDW resorts.

I really think you will have fun and love the Swan!

Have a wonderful trip!!!!!! :jester:

I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Swan is right next door to the Boardwalk. It's just a fabulous place. I'm so jealous that you got such a great price on a deluxe king.

If you don't want to walk to MGM, you can take the boat. You can also take one to or from Epcot. Enjoy!!!

YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT!!!!!

I just got back from the Swan - I found the CM's to be awesome, the service every bit as good if not better than the service at the Disney resorts we have stayed at.
The food is great too. We had room service everynight and enjoyed it better than our room service at the GF!

The walk to the Boardwalk area is so easy and convenient. The bus service to the waterparks and MK were great too. The beds are soooo comfy and the TV's are larger than the Disney resorts too. $99 per night is such a great deal - good for you! Go online to SPG.com and join the Starwood Preferred Guest program (it's free) and you can earn points on your upcoming stay at the Swan good toward future visits to there or other Starwood hotels.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
Have a great trip!!!

DH and I just returned from an annivrsary trip (late July) at the Swan. LOVED IT!!! We stayed at the Dolphin last summer with family and LOVED IT. So, we knew we were in for more of the same. But, the Swan exceeded my expectations - we were upgraded to a Jr. Suite with a "panoramic" view. The resort was never overly busy or noisy. The elevators were fast. The pool was never crowded (I used the quiet pool) it was very relaxing to have no one near you. The Grotto pool was a tad busier but lounge chairs were available. The services and amenities are outstanding.

You are located right in the magic of Epcot, BW, and B/Y Club where it is so quick to get to these locations. Rent a surrey bike over the the BW and you can bike from BW through Y/B Club and S/D property - lots of fun in the early evening.

You can walk to the BW in a matter of 5-10 minutes. MGM a liitle longer. The boat service was great - we waited no longer than 10 minutes - ditto bus service to MK and AK. Swan is the first stop, too!

The Swan is an awesome resort to spend time alone or with family, IMHO! Enjoy you trip.

Here's a picture from our room looking to the Dolphin and the Friendship boat docks:

The Swan is beautiful. You'll love it. It's a great place to stay (and I hear the heavenly beds are awesome, we haven't tried them yet and can't wait)....the location is unbeatable.

You can take a boat or walk to EPCOT or MGM or take a romantic stroll around the lake on the BW and BC/YC areas. There are tons of "romantic" restaurants to choose from. The BW is right across the bridge from the Swan (a 2 minute walk).

It's a very different atmopshere than that of the FW cabins. Of course you're in a resort vs. a cabin and you're in the middle of so many things to do! No golf cart needed:p although you might want to try a surrey bike:p -they're a lot of fun especially trying to pedal up some of those bridges!!

ENJOY!!

Thanks for all the great info everyone! I do have another ? though....what happens if we use the international gateway in the mornings to go to epcot? can we get in that way...even for EE? I am so excited about this trip! We usually drive (it is too much $ to fly w/ 4 kids!) and this trip we are flying, so I am really looking forward to skipping the 20 hour drive!!!LOL!!! I am also excited about doing more "adult" things this time...but I will have to go to FL in MK to ride Peter Pan!!! It wouldn't be a disney trip if I skipped it!!!

Yes, you can enter thru International Gateway. You walk past England on towards FW. There are ropes up and CM to direct you to FW. It is a lovely, peaceful walk in the early morning - not crowded. It feels as if you own Epcot!

LOL :) I love PPF, too and didn't miss it this trip either along with SWSA. WP, IASW. After all we are all children again when in Disney. That's the magic of it! :D

Scanmom>> You're going to have a great trip! There is nothing more I can say than... HAVE FUN!! We loved the Swan and can't wait to go back to either there or the Dolphin!

hockeymom - did you book your room yet with a discount. I want to book our room for august 2004 with government discount, but don't know if I can get a rate yet?

luvdisney>> I just checked at www.swandolphin.com and they do have the discount for next August in the system. I am trying to decide which to pick for our next vacation, and at what level of room! I should probably just go with standard room/teacher discount and take it from there, before my dates are gone!
