Can anyone tell me about the Swan and Dolphin Resorts? I have already booked CSR for July at the Disney Visa rate. I can get the Swan or Dolphin at the teacher rate. Is it worth the extra cost to stay there?

Boy, did you come to the right place!:teeth: I started out considering Coronado Springs, then found out about teacher rate. That was too good to pass up! Then I actually had a ressie for room only Disney Visa rates at the Contemporary. Then changed my mind to remain 6 nights at the Swan. THEN, I found out I qualified for 7/4 Visa promotion and had a hold on a ressie at Grand Floridian, but would have to change flights, extra day of meals, etc. So I am sticking with the Swan at teacher rate. My kids are older and will probably do more at Epcot, anyway. We can walk there from the Swan and also catch to monorail to MK.

There are many wonderful people on the thread that starts out "New Swan/Dolphin tips and hints". I'd post the link, but I'm computer impaired and DS isn't here right now! They helped me in my decisions and can tell you all about the Swan and Dolphin. They are experts. We're looking forward to our stay at the Swan in June

Wow! You sound just like me! I keep changing my mind about where to stay. Thanks for the reply!

We stayed at Swan with teachers rate for 12/28-1/02/04. It was wonderful. We are dvc members and have not stayed anywhere but dvc since we joined in 1994, so we were a bit nervous. The resort staff was great! We upgraded to CL (still with Teacher's discount it was $214 instead of $149). The rooms are wonderful, club level offering and staff were tremendous, location is fabulous for epcot and mgm via walk or boat and we had direct bus to MK from S&D(this may be different when its not a peal time-shared with YC&BC I think). Great restaurants at both hotels, Fresh is great as is The Dolphin Fountain and Palio(and BW and YC&BC are right there also). We were not disappointed at all and did not miss the mickey soap and shampoo! The Swan is a Westin hotel and we found the staff very helpful.

We stayed at the Dolphin in Dec 2002 for 2 weeks. It is a beautiful hotel with great facilties and great rooms (we had a beautiful water view with balcony). It is really nice being able to walk to Epcot, MGM, Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club so that makes a real difference.

The only downside was that we found that the Hotel was less Disney and more Starwood and the kids were a little dissappointed with that although they soon forgot once we got going into the parks etc.
