SW Seating.

I have a question about Southwest seating on connecting flights...How does it work? If I receive a A Boarding Pass on my beginning flight, when I make my plane transfer how does the seating work? TIA.

When you check in for your first flight, you will be given boarding passes for all your flights that day. Assuming you check in 24-hours before your first flight, you will be checking in more than 24-hours before your later flights and are pretty much guaranteed A passes.

However, A passes don't do you any good if your connection is tight and they are already boarding the C's when you get to the connection.

Where are you changing planes at? If it's at MDW, you could be cutting it close because some of their SWA gates are FAR apart. BNA is a smaller airport.

A couple of months ago, I had a flight on SWA from DTW to MCO with a change of planes at MDW. I had an hour layover. We left DTW an hour late due to a ground hold at MDW. We were landing at MDW when we were supposed to be taking off. SWA told us to HUSTLE to the gate (2 gates down) and they held the plane for us. Even though we had A boarding passes, we ended up in middle seats and were dang grateful that we HAD seats because that was the LAST SWA flight out for the night.

The other issue is there could be alot of through passengers so despite your A you could be getting on a plane that is already 3/4 full.

Oh no, now I'm nervous! I've flown into Houston Hobby once before and I dont think its that big (the transfer spot to MCO.) I just hope there's no delays on my way to Houston Hobby. Yikes!
