SW Flights are up now!!

I didn't see any $99 fares out of Long Island, Providence, or Hartford. I think the cheapest was $145 (or something close to that) and it was for a 1 stop flight or the last flight of the day.

I just checked my flights on SW. The price has gone up $400 since I booked! Good thing I got up early and didn't wait to see if they opened at 10:00! That's still the Wanna Get Away fares!

Disappointed that at just after 8 am, that one way from MDW to MCO is already at $245. Makes me wonder just how few $99 fares are actually available. Wonder if this is a hint of what is to be with their Air Tran merger.

Where do you live? I live in the northern suburbs and find the Milwaukee airport very convenient! Unless you live on the south side, look at the flights from Milwaukee.

The lowest out of Providence on April 16th was $118 but was at night with 1 stop. I prefer to pay a little more, get there early , and have a non-stop

I checked for the heck of it at 645am. Thank Goodness I did! Didn't get a nonstop but got three at about 550 going down on the 23rd from MHT. I paid the extra 10.00 each for the preseating also. I really was expecting to pay a lot more. Now I just have to wait for the return flights. Glad that's over.:worship:

Thanks, Maggie. We live about 3 miles from Midway Airport, so of course that is our airport of choice. I did check Milwaukee's flight schedule and would be a little difficult to manage. Will have to think hard on this if we just want to bite the bullet and pay the fare or not travel. I almost feel like the travel industry is making it difficult for "middle" class families to be able to afford to travel during such prime times as Spring Break, but that is just my opinion.

Had so much trouble booking. Kept getting errors:-( Finally booked, but the prices were higher.

I don't think it is at all. If anything, it's a hint of Southwest charging realistic fares that allow them to transport passengers without losing money.

I was on Southwest at 6:45 and fares from CLE were all over $150! The nonstop was at $208 and thats the wanna get away fare. I bit the bullet and bought on Continental. Better flight times and cheaper...

I guess with the merger of Airtran and SW and Cont and United CLE will never have cheap fares again. Boo---

I got on my computer around 6:50 EST and was very surprised to see the schedule had already been opened up. Our family of 7 needed tickets from ISP to MCO for the April 16 7 night western cruise. The 1st morning flight was already sold out for wanna get away and the return (April 23) had few seats left and they were 199 on 1 flight and 240 for the 1 or 2 other flights that had any wanna get away fares at all. I looked at April 15 flights, but same situation. In a matter of about 10 minutes- not kidding- 10 minutes, there was virtually nothing left. I settled on 1 combination, but it was nearly $500 each, so we passed.

So either some airline runs a sale of some sort, or it looks like we may not be going. Darn...I have SPH cabins and 1st tier pricing for the cruise which I booked last September! And my 80 year old dad really wanted to go to Key West! But we cannot justify spending $3500 in airfare for the 7 of us.

Ugh.....

I booked our family of four today at 6am and the total cost was $1400 ($163 one way) from Chicago to Orlando. I wanted certian times and was worried that the prices will just go up. With Easter being end of April, I was surprised that March was still high. Air Tran has horrible times so I did not go with them, plus not much difference in price.

We're going March 18 to March 27 out of Milwaukee on Airtran. Times were great for us and right now, I'm at $105 down and $127 back. Hoping for fares to drop more between now and then so I can get a credit. OUr flights for our trip to MCO next month are $74 down and $69 back!

I don't look forward to the day when Airtran fares go up as high as the SW fares.

I'm satisfied and disappointed at the same time.

I thought the schedule would open up at 11:00 eastern as usual--boy, was I surprised that at 8:30 when I got on they were already opened up! Of course, all wanna get away fares from PVD flying week before Easter were gone--was even looking for Thursday and Friday fares. That was the disappointing part.

But, ended up nabbing BDL, which is a little farther drive, but got all 3 tix for $1200 which I was prepared to pay anyway and at decent times. PVD was up over $2,000 for 3 and MHT was around the same as what we paid but is now up over $1,400. We're flying the previous Thursday and coming home on Good Friday.

SO in retrospect, we were late to the party but got on earlier than anticipated (what caused me to look I'll never know) and paid about what we expected for Easter week. So, I guess in the end, I'm satisfied--and more than a little relieved.

Now, to find a car--they're up over $700 for a compact for the week. YIKES...looks like we might be taking ME, too.

We are looking for the 21... and the prices seemed HIGH! What did you get?

I see you are from New Hampshire so I would guess you fly out of Manchester :goodvibes We got the latest non-stop on Wednesday 4/20 for $118  It was either that or first thing Thursday morning for $199 :cool1: So I am thrilled to be so close to $100, especially with it being Easter and school vacation for New Hampshire :thumbsup2

I was looking for Providence too but BDL was cheaper. It was even cheaper than Long Island! I also looked at rental cars today and they are outrageous so we might consider ME too.

We're actually lucky to have a choice of airports. I usually do PVD, but will do BDL on a rare occasion (like this one) when they're significantly cheaper. In this case, I checked MHT, too, as well as Logan but no non-stops out of there (don't know WHY?!?!).

I read some of the posts from people who have only 1 airport nearby and/or no choices of carrier and are at their mercy...

We've flown out of Bradley, Islip (Long Island) and Providence. We only went out of Prov last year but it was really nice so it was my first choice. I think maybe Bradley was a little cheaper this time because Jet Blue is flying out of there now too. Even Islip was higher than Bradley which really surprised me.

I'm just glad to have it done!

We are flying out the same exact dates, but we booked with Jetblue this time. Lots of Disers going in April :cool1:
