~ SURVIVOR Samoa ~ Season 19 ~

I agree that Mike may have been somewhat out of shape for Survivor BUT that being said...that football-like challenge was CRAZY. Contestants SMASHING into each other...all I kept thinking was how the NFL wears all this safety gear and over here at Survivor...ZERO.

Jasmin/Yasmin whatever her name is...ummm...a tad bit on the LOUD side if you ask me...NOW I am no way agreeing with the way Ben acted...he is a complete JERK...(besides all the name calling, what was with the sawing in the middle of the night)...but Jasmin/Yasmin was yapping like a parrot.

I really liked Betsy. :sad1:

BETSY =

Yasmin, Ben & Russell...whew the casting department knows how to pick em. Yasmin needs to just be quiet, Ben is beyond a jerk and Russell is no where near as bad as Ben. In fact, I found him quite entertaining last night.

I am so bummed that Betsy is gone, I was hoping she would go far. I am left with John & Jaison as my favs.

They contestants are not allowed to choose what they wear, the producers do that. They give them all (including undies) the clothes they are allowed to wear. A couple of years ago, one lady was complaining they didn't even give her a bra.

This is interesting. Do the producers choose from the players own clothes, or is everything brand new?:confused3

When reality shows only pick the "pretty people" or the "want-to-be actors", viewers complain that there is no diversity on the program. Personally, I like it that they have picked a variety of people to be on the show. In the past, some of these seemingly less fit people have done very well.

I agree with you. I could not figure out what she was trying to accomplish with everything she did at that camp.

No I think you misunderstood me a little, I wasn't saying that I think they should use all mactors (model/actors) or all buff pretty people, just that it doesn't make sense to pick someone off of a walmart electric vehicle, that obviously can't make the physical part of it.

Survivor is EXTREMELY physical, from the lack of food and water, and the conditions, very very tough. They have to pick people that are in some kind of shape IMO just to survive the day to day grind.

I mainly meant that they should pick interesting people, with interesting personalities that have some physical attributes, they don't all have to look like T.O. (super buff). But I will confess that I do appreciate it when they pick hot chicks. :lmao:

The thing I was referring to at the end of the show when he was voting for Betsy he made some reference to her being a cop then made a movement with his hand like he was shooting a gun which I took to mean he was figuritively shooting her. Inexcusable in my opinion.

Perhaps you are correct. However, I took it as he was extinguishing her from the show.

this week uncovered a person just as horrible - Ben. What an awful human being. I can't believe what he did when casting his vote at tribal council.

Ohhh, ITA w/LIZ, this was a GUN reference because she is a COP! ::yes:: JMHO! DISTURBING!

Also, DISer's, how the heck did Russell find that IDOL w/o one single clue???? :confused3 Is he the first contestant to find an IDOL with absolutely no clues???? :confused3

A couple thoughts.

While I want them to pick some "interesting" people, I hope they don't get too sensational. It takes away from the rest of the show for me. I like a little character along with interesting.

I still think Russell is a little sociopathic and Ben seems to have a criminal type attitude. At the least, Ben is extremely childish.

I think the challenge was a little too much and I'm not sure Ben can be totally faulted for his behavior in it. That type of challenge invites aggression and an everything goes mentality.

By looking for it. I would have done the same thing knowing that the idol could be anywhere. You noticed that he was looking first around the mail location, taking stones off and looking behind them. I just think that he has watched Survivor enough to know where he might look.

I totally agree that the challenge last night was way too aggressive, that stuff brings out the animal in people.

Every season the same type of people get picked to be on the show. I'm sure after 19 seasons the producers know what makes the show work, but I would like to see a more even balance of younger versus older people. Yea, younger people are more "fun" to look at, but make it fair. (I'm 47 btw.)

IMO, the editors aired too much about the grammar and ghetto trash remarks, such sensative topics these days. But of course, makes good tv, that's what it's all about.

I am really eager to find out what Russell's real life story is. The editor's do a good job of making a person's character what they want it to be, but I doubt if they twisted the footage to create Russell to be what we see.

And last, her name is "Yasmin", I looked it up. ;)

I couldn't believe Yasmin's attitude -- I'm here to help you blah, blah, blah. No, she wasn't there to help them, she was there to observe. She was acting like she's the Survivor goddess.

Sometimes I'm not sure if I hate that guy, or if I admire his gameplay.

Maybe they can blind-side Russell at Tribal Council -- that's the only way they'll be able to get rid of him if he doesn't expect it. He's so full of himself, he probably wouldn't believe they'd vote him out anyhow! :lmao:

Keeping in mind that the show is heavily edited and we're only seeing what the producers want us to see.......

Russell: I agree with hucifer - I DO hate him, but you have to admire the way he gets the other people on his tribe to do exactly what he wants them to do, to vote out the person he decides should go.

At some point, I hope somebody on the Fao Fao tribe wises up to what he's doing, and they figure out some way to blind-side him.

Supposedly all of them have watched Survivor before, so why haven't any of the others tried looking for a hidden immunity idol? (Granted, maybe some of the others HAVE looked for it, but those scenes are on the cutting room floor.):confused3

Also, the Fao Fao tribe is now down 3 people. Russell is sabatoging his own tribe - I can't believe that the rest of them aren't thinking to themselves "our canteens didn't empty themselves and Jaison's sock didn't just hop into the fire/disappear by itself.....somebody on this tribe is doing these things." Right now, they don't know who to trust, so they're probably not talking about it with anyone else. I'm sure that's why Russell wanted Betsy gone - her cop instincts were too strong and he knew he'd get caught sooner if she was still around.

I really liked Betsy; sad to see her gone. If she had been on a tribe with anyone other than Russell, I think she would have gone far.

Yasmin: what an idiot! C'mon....you're sent to the other tribe for 2 days. That was her chance to get buddy/buddy with some of them, learn who's who, where their weak link is, etc., etc. and what does she do? Jumps right in and INSULTS them about their performance in the challenges? That whole scene with Ben.....both of them were WAY out of line.

And neither Yasmin nor Russell are thinking ahead - MERGE. Yasmin just made enemies of everyone on the Fao Fao tribe. If she's still around at the merge, she'll be gone. Russell is sabatoging his own team; their distrust of each other is going to affect their performance in challenges, if it hasn't already. So they keep going to tribal council after tribal council, their numbers diminish. When it comes to the merge, they have fewer people and get picked off one by one by the other tribe. Unless Russell thinks he can play his mind games on the other tribe after a merge? But the other tribe will have how many days to bond amongs themselves.

Forgot to add my thoughts on Shambo's fishing trip: What an idiot! It must take some sort of skill to swim and use that spear to get fish. So if she was out there a while and couldn't get any fish, then why not head back to camp, admit she couldn't do it and let someone else get out there and try? No, she goes swimming, and in that yukky swamp water!! Now, if she could SEE the fish in the ocean and couldn't catch any, why in the world would she try to catch fish in a swamp where she couldn't see anything?

Either she's not as smart as she looks, or she's up to something. It's too early in the game for the lack of food and water to be slowing down their thinking.

Also, I feel bad that Mike had to leave the game, but c'mon - he had to have know for how many months that he'd be on Survivor. Lose a few pounds, get in better shape! When they showed his belly hanging over his pants during that challenge, it's no wonder he had heart problems. There have been older folks on Survivor before, right from season 1 with Rudy, and then Mike the fireman/policeman.

I am peeved that Betsy is gone - now I need to pick a new favorite. It definitely won't be Russell!

 No doubt, I totally agree, there's nothing that gets on my nerves more than someone acting like they are all the mr./mrs/ outdoorsman and tries to fish, then comes back with nothing. As you said, if you can't do it, come back asap and have someone else try. All that does is make her look like a total wannabe, know it all, know nothing loser. Remember in all-stars when Rupert was racking up fish and someone thought they had to "keep up" with what he was doing and went out and right off the bat lost the spear  what a moron. If you can't fish, at least don't lose the fishing gear, tool central.

I was wondering....
I have owned snorkels & just checked mine. its not that easy for the mouthpiece to just fall off......
(unless they gave them a $2.00 toy)

could she have pulled the mouthpiece off & stashed it, later to be found?

I know that would make no sense at all, but they edit this thing so weird & to lose that mouth piece.... :confused3

Well thankfully it wasn't the "Russell hour" like last week but this week uncovered a person just as horrible - Ben. What an awful human being. I can't believe what he did when casting his vote at tribal council.

Sorry for the person who was sent home. One of my favorites.

:thumbsup2Totally agree....What a sorry excuse for a human being.

:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I found Russell (God forbid) entertaining this week too...Ben is an idiot....At tribal council, when he said that he tripped (I don't know his name) the leader of the other tribe...He did not trip him..He kick him in the shin...What an idiot...I don't think he is a racist but I do think that he is sexist....Betsy saw through the idiots on her tribe..she was a threat..that is why she is gone...I want Ben to go.

My favorites so far (they may change as they get more air time), the tribe leader (the attorney with dreads), the doctor from the other tribe, and the polo guy.

I hope the polo guy is smart enough to not trust Russell...He seems like a really nice guy.

Was wondering, the clue to the immunity idol that Yasmin received, was it for her camp or the other? Because now that Russell has found the idol for his camp, does that mean it is good to use? If her clue was for her camp, then that means Russell's idol might not be in "play" yet since no one in his camp has received a clue. The reason I'm wondering is what if he brought out the idol before a clue was given for it. Would it still be good or would Jeff tell him it was no good because it was not in play yet. Wouldn't that be a hoot? :rotfl:

Hmmm...no clue. I did not know that you needed any clues to the Idol to have it work for anyone??? Hmmm! I would say IMHO it is Russell's. He found it! And the clue that Yasmin read appeared to me to be for the Idol at Fao Fao, the one Russell found, as it referenced a "tree"!

I don't believe Russell had any help, as in a clue from someone, on where the idol was. He has watched the show and it's not really all that unusal he would find it in a tree. No telling how long it actually took. The edited implied it was quick and easy but that does not make it so.
