Survivor: Pearl Islands *OFFICIAL THREAD*

THANK YOU RUDisney for taking time to answer my post! Will be an interesting show.:)

My favorite part of last night's episode was seeing the big grin on Rupert's face. I've missed seeing his smiling face on the show and it was great to see him (and the other members of the jury) celebrating the downfall of Burton.

..but,he may be the one to keep around because he is so disliked by everyone. Anyone who gets to the final 2 with Jon,will win! He's the one to take.

Hi Cheeringmom.

Guys, help me if I get this wrong.

They will have another immunity challenge and will vote someone off. Let's say...ummmmm...JON!

Then the final three, Sandra, Lil and Darrah, will probably paint little boats or something and send them down memory river--or something equally corny. ;) The producers will then play sappy music as they show shots of all the voted out contestants.

Then, I believe, there will be another immunity challenge. Let's say...ummmm....Sandra wins immunity. I think then the vote will be who goes with Sandra to the final two. Of course Darrah will vote for herself and Lil will vote for herself, but Sandra would break the tie by voting for Darrah. :teeth:

Then Jeff Probst will take the voting vase thingie and take off in a helicopter...

Now the LIVE show starts...with Jeff's helicopter landing on top of the CBS building in NYC--LIVE, of course. He'll run into the studio where there is a LIVE audience, and all the survivors will be on stage--which is set up exactly like tribal council.

Jeff will read the votes and declare the winner!

Then at 10:00 p.m. there should be another show where Bryant Gumbel or someone interviews all the Survivors. Everyone forgives each other, and they live happily ever after.

I think.

The end.

Oops, RUdisney and I must have posted at the same time. Except her explanation was a bit more expedient. ;)

Here's a thought.... If Jon gets voted off at the next TC, (and believe me, I hope that he does!) will the other members of the jury even let him sit with them....or will he become the first "jury outcast" and have to sit at the end of a bench by himself? I know if I were on the jury, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the guy!

It's about time, girls! I bet they feel pretty foolish for letting Johnny Fairplay stay on so long now that they've seen the episodes on tv. For the first time in Survivor history, I'm not rooting for anyone who's left. I guess Darrah will have to do.

BUT HE WILL BE SITTING NEXT TO BURTON AND BURTON LIKES HIM. AS HE SAID IF I'M GOING TO GO TO A REWARD I'M GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE I LIKE AND WANT TO BE WITH.

SSB thinks that he read that Jeff will actually be the host this year for the post show... which is fine by me.

Also, only other "oddity" for the final vote by the ousted tribe members to award the million dollars, is that they write down the name of the person who the WANT to win... not the one that they want voted out.

I really think Darrah deserves to win she really has out smarted everyone. She flew under the rader, did not ruffle any feathers, was calm, helpful, and quite and now she is kicking eveyones butt in challenges. (I do not believe they were set up for her like someone else said) She waited till the strong and load were gone and she is attacking!

As much as I hate Jon I think Darrah should take Jon to the final2. This would assure her of a 1 million and it would be fun to see everyone bash Jon. but then again who would want to be alone with him for the last day.

Can you imagine the bugs that might be living in his rats nest of a hair do!!!

I TOO THINK JON SHOULD GO TO THE F2 HOPING THAT HE WILL BE VOTED THE LOSER BUT.....SOMETIMES THESE THINGS KICK US IN THE A--. 1)WHO EVEN WANTS HIM TO GET $100,000 FOR BEING A F---ING LIAR, 2) IT MIGHT BACKFIRE AND HE WINS. THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE WORSE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT BE DARRAH/SANDRA SO AT LEAST THE TOP 2 ARE DESERVING OF THE MONEY. LIL CERTAINLY ISNT SINCE SHE WAS AN OUTCAST AND BECAUSE SHES A WHINER WHO WAS CARRIED FOR THE USAGE OF OTHERS. ISNT THERE A NAME FOR PEOPLE LIKE HER...

Thanks Bichon Barb for the very thorough explanation! You know me too well!!hehehe
I really didn't think this show was all that cut throat UNTIL rotten Johnny lied about his grandmother. I was shocked!! I do hope the girls stick together but I am a little worried about Lil. She is easily swayed-esp by men. Hmm should be interesting.

I can't wait until they discuss the grandmother thing at the aftershow! LOL.

It is true that editing plays a major part in what we see. I read that tribal council really lasts about 2 hours and yet we only see about 15 minutes of it. Darrah has been seen so little in this show that it is hard to see if she has a strategy or not. They certainly better give her some more air time *if* she makes it to the final two. I'm still missing Rupert though and looking forward to Survivor All Stars.

I did hear that Darrah told Burton earlier that Lil was trying to vote him off with a female alliance so thus we heard the sour grapes in the exit speech about Lil breaking the alliance with him. He *claimed* that the reason he voted to boot Lil was because of what Darrah told him. That may have happened and they just edited it out where she told him.

Got the transcript from the Early Show:

(Showing clips from the show, the things Burton was saying about the girls not being able to come up with a strategy)

Early Show: You talk about words that will live forever and ever--"those women couldn't put a strategy together"--lots of things to talk about. First, you did a great job when you were here the last time of not giving away the secret that you were going back to the game. Let's go right to last night. You win this reward challenge and the first person you pick is Jon. Did you have any thought whatsoever--we can't leave these women alone?

Burton: At the time, there was no reason to think Lil was going to do anything but stick with our alliance. The three of us had been working the game--I mean, Jon and I driving the bus, Lil riding the bus--this far in the game. We were at this point pretty much guaranteed top 3. Don't know why Lil would have done anything differently.

ES: Didn't you vacillate a little bit with her, though? There were some times in the last couple of weeks you gave her reasons to doubt you a little bit.

B: If you saw all of the conversations she and I had, I promised her I would never lie to her, which I never did in the entire game, and I would get her as far as I could. I never said top 2. And it was clear in our conversation that we are not going to get someone farther [didn't understand what he said here] yourself. So I didn't think Lil would backstab me. And it turns out she did. But I will say right before Jon got on the boat to go to the reward, Darrah comes up and says, "Lil just approached us with an all-girls strategy. At that point, it's like, "Oh, gosh." So we had 24 hours to talk about what about this, what about that.

ES: Your goose was cooked.

B: It was.

ES: Did you know when you came back from the reward, did you think--I could be in serious trouble here?

B: We were going to go to Darrah and Sandra and try to sway them to get Lil off. But the girls were lying, it was so obvious.

ES: They did this whole, Sandra wrapped up in a blanket--

B: Yeah--"We didn't talk about anything." I said, "We were gone for 24 hours and you didn't talk about anything?" "No, we didn't." It was clear they were lying. They said, okay, we'll vote for Lil, but at the end of the day, I was pretty sure I was going. But from their standpoint, they should have gotten rid of me a long time ago.

ES: You had a heck of a run.

Now taking callers:

Caller: At the end of the show you said to Lil--I hope you can live with yourself because we had an alliance. My question is, can you live with yourself because you did the same thing to her?

B: No, Lil broke our alliance and I knew about that before I went on the reward. So when I got back our alliance was finished. So I was doing what I could to try to stay in the game. But she backstabbed me, went against us, after all that Jon and I had helped her get that far in the game.

ES: This is some scouts battling here because weren't you an Eagle Scout?

B: I am an Eagle Scout and stuck to my word the entire game. Did not lie to Lil.

ES: They're going to call you in front of the BSA next time--we're going to have a big pow wow about this.

Caller: How do you think you're going to manage to get dates after the whole country saw you talking so poorly about women?

B: I believe if you watch the tape it was Jon talking poorly. I just said they couldn't come up with a strategy. I did not talk poorly about women.

ES: You will have a reputation to deal with.

B: Well, I'm not worried about getting dates, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Caller: I was wondering if at any time during the reward challenge or prior to that Jonny Rotten had confided in you that his grandmother really had not died? And if he didn't, when did you actually find out and how did that change how you felt about him?

B: Once that was over, it was over. No one thought about it. I did--I kind of learned with the rest of the people on tv. But to me it didn't matter.

ES: Who do you like as this game goes on, though? Because in a lot of ways, wouldn't the most, wouldn't the best strategy be to get rid of Lil? Shouldn't these women turn and re-form an alliance with Jonny Rotten?

B: There's a million different ways it can go. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. You can run all the scenarios and a lot of different things make sense so a lot of it has to do with who gets immunity and then what do you do at that point.

ES: And finally, some of the players that have come on since felt it was really unfair to have the outcasts come back. How would you respond to that?

B: It wasn't a decision I made, I just took advantage of the opportunity and did the best that I could. So I was playing the game and no one had a problem when we first got back in the game. My tribe loved me, they said, hey, we have a better tribe. They only had a problem after they got booted out.

First--gotta love the shot of the jury celebrating last night! Had to rewind that a couple of times and watch it again.

I couldn't believe Burton would take Jon on the reward with him--someone needed to stay back and mind the tribe! I was thinking during last week's reward that it was designed specifically to bust alliances. It was determined in advance which three would go off together, leaving three behind to scheme as well.

I also have to laugh whenever Burton talks about he and Jon doing all the playing, and everyone else riding along. He himself has been riding along with Jon the whole time. Jon has saved his butt, or he would have been out of there a few shows ago. It hasn't been his own doing that he made it this far.

I think the guys really underestimated Sandra. I don't think it's incompetence that prevented an all-girls alliance earlier. I think it's Sandra. I think she wanted Darrah and Tijuana broken up because they were too tight and if they had Lil, they'd be in the majority against Sandra and Christa. As we've seen in earlier Survivors, the "power of two" becomes dangerous late in the game. Better to keep a strong alliance under wraps.

Anyone who saw the Early Show--did you think Burton was lying about finding out about Jon's grandmother watching the show? He seemed to me to be lying about that. Plus, didn't he mention in his first Early Show appearance that the big lie hadn't happened yet? He seemed to know what it was at that time.

Loved when Sandra was plotting to take her revenge! That was great!

I too loved Sandra's idea of sabotaging the tribe. I can't remember anyone else ever planning a sabotage on previous Survivors, except people refusing to work who felt they were the next to go. I wasn't fond of Sandra when the show started and felt that her mouth would probably get the best of her. But she has shown spunk throughout the show and she is my favorite as of now. I can't wait to see what she has to saw to Jon at the Reunion Show. It should be "Hawkish."

Can't wait until Sunday.

A few little corrections to your great review of what happens in the final show:
3 people compete during the final immunity challenge. It's usually some sort of endurance challenge, like standing on a post in the water or, the one in Thailand was standing in a particularly uncomfortable Thai dance position in a cave full of campfires. Who ever holds out the longest wins a spot in the final 2. When it's down to 2 people still doing the challenge, they sometimes make a deal like "I'll step down now if you promise to take me to the final 2". The winner of that challenge is the only one to vote for who will be the other member of the final 2.

There's usually a sort "bonding final day" for those final 2. In the past, they have burned a lot of the camp articles in a bonfire (accompanied by mood music and shots of their fellow survivors using the article).
After that the final 2 appear in front of the jury for the final Council. They each have to make a statement about why they should be the Ultimate Survivor. Each jury member gets to ask a question or make a statement. Some are interesting, some are weird and some are stupid (on the order of "what is your favorite number?"). After that, the vote is taken and the whole thing happens with Jeff Probst flying off with the vote container.

Bryant Gumble did the first few reunion shows. After he left CBS, Rosie O'Donnell did one (I think only one). Jeff Probst did the last one.

I really enjoyed the last show and can't wait to see what happen next Sunday. Reaaly, really hope John does not win immunity!
:earseek:

I read in a newspaper article earlier this season (which is posted somewhere on this thread) that Jeff will make a very dramatic entrance and the live show finale will take place in Panama.

Will Darrah keep her secret alliance with Jon?

They were supposed to have the finale at the site of the ruins. But apparently some of the walls collapsed, so they have moved the show to L.A.
