SURVIVOR fans! The game is on! What do you think?(Remember our west coast friends)

I had to laugh because as soon as Jenna won I said out loud ..
"how did this happen ?" .. (to no one since I live alone:D ) and right after that Jeff sticks his face in the camera and says "how did this happen ?" ... we'll find out after the break ....I am very disappointed in the outcome

Well, I thought it was the best Survivor ever. I'm happy. :D

{shrug} It's all in the EDITING.

Although....after watching EVERY Survivor episode since Season 1, I mayyyyyy have reached *my* personal tolerance for being manipulated by editing...

(DO have to award a "nod" to Jeff arriving the old Ed Sullivan Theatre via jet-ski and subway; very cool send-up ;) ).

DISGUSTING!!!! I am so disappointed with the outcome of this Survivor. All that girl did was lie around whining, whining, whining!! UGH!! There is no way she deserved to win that money. Matt should have won--even Rob deserved to win more than Jenna!! What was the jury thinking?????!!! Geeze, I was upset when Richard Hatch won--but at least he worked and played the game. This was just a horrible ending for this show.

I was pretty surprised. It HAS to be the editing which led me/us to believe Matt was the odds-on favorite.

It looked like Alex HATED him.

Did anyone notice that they talked very little to Matt on the reunion show? Certainly not much for number 2. I think Heidi got way too much airtime.

Oh my. Matteo must have used his money already, for a face transplant. None of the survivors have ever looked as completely different by the reunion show. I can't blame Jenna for hanging on him! Diana

Well, it's over on the West Coast. I was extremely disappointed when Jenna won, but felt much better after her comments. It seems like she realizes how she came off and has grown from the experience. Heidi hasn't shown that in any of her interviews that I've seen. I wonder if they're still such good buddies?

I still honestly don't get why people voted for Jenna over Matt. ??? I felt like he did a better job of answering the jury's questions. Other than the fact that he was creepy, I felt like he played a much more fair game than Jenna did too. Why does it seem like working hard simply doesn't count in this game. I thought his point about the days where she was ready to give up was especially valid.

The thing on this show that made me the maddest was when Jenna said that Butch doesn't deserve to win because he hasn't worked hard.

Well, I'm not west coast, but I was one of those who had to record it and watch later because of Mother's Day activities (though lemme tell ya, I sure would have preferred staying home to watch Survivor over going to the Inlaws  ;) )

Anyway, my thoughts...

First, I find it very, very interesting at the reactions on this thread. All season, most people have agreed that this was the best season at least since Australia, if not ever. But now that someone (generic) you don't like, it's suddenly the worst season? Interesting switch. :)

I personally still enjoyed it. No, I don't think Jenna deserved it (neither did whoever won last season -- and that tells you how little I liked last season when I can't even remember who won), but I do think she probably grew more out there as a person -- especially in the end -- than anyone else. Not that that makes her deserving of a million bucks, but at least it's something. And the fact that she was willing to admit on national TV that yes, she was and is a spoiled-brat only child takes a lot of gumption and self-awareness. Both pros. Again, not making her deserving of a million bucks, but still. And, I do have to admit that her mother's condition makes me a little more generous towards her -- how much you want to bet that at least some of Jenna's winnings go to help her mom? She's obviously, very obviously a Mama's Girl (and Daddy's Girl) and I bet she's going to give back to her mom. I guess I can relate to some degree to her, being a spoiled only child myself (hopefully not a brat, but some would disagree ;) ) who is also close to her parents, and whose mom is also sick (thankfully not with cancer and not as badly as Jenna's mom, but she's still sick). So perhaps that's why Jenna doesn't annoy me as much as she does some of y'all.

Anyway -- as to my thoughts of the episode itself...

I was very surprised that this season they didn't have anything about knowing your other survivors. The closest was that group game about "which remaining survivor was the most... (hated, likely to use sex appeal, etc)".

I was very surprised that the last two immunity challenges were both physical, though the first of these last two was a combination of physical and mental I suppose. Certainly not as mental as I expected it to be.

I was not at all surprised that Butch was voted off first.

I also wasn't too surprised that Rob went next.

What did absolutely floor me was that Matt only got ONE vote.

I did think Jenna cleaned up rather nicely for the final immunity challenge -- I wouldn't be surprised if they saved (or were given) a little of that shampoo won at the beginning to be used at the very end. Only way I can figure that Jenna looked so good at the final TC. And I can see the model in her at the reunion show.

I guess I'm the only one who goes for the "rugged" look -- every guy this season I thought looked better before shaving than they did at the reunion after shaving. *shrug*

Though I really did have to laugh at Rob's comment -- he now has a girlfriend, but she doesn't trust a word he says? LOL!!

I really wonder how much they bribe the members of the jury to influence their votes? There is no way, no way at all that I can see that total coincidence makes the Survivor season winners follow the pattern of M-F-M-F-M-F Statistics just does *not* work that way. It has to be influenced somehow. And to get Christy to vote for Jenna......? I think it's rigged. I can buy it being real up to a point, but from that point (perhaps at the final two) I think it's rigged.

I did think it strange they didn't talk to Matt much at all during the reunion.

And, I *loved* Jeff's approach to the Reunion. (I personally suspect that he didn't really have the votes in the urn while on the water -- too much risk. I think it was a dummy-urn)

I'm looking forward to next season. I enjoy the show as much for the challenges and location as the people, so I know I'll be giving it a shot at very least. :)

Until then, I'll miss my Survivor friends! :)

Yeah -- a case of "pot calling the kettle".

It looked like Alex HATED him.

I'd love to know what that was all about. If Alex had rolled his eyes anymore they probably would have fallen out. It seemed like no matter what Matt said, Alex didn't like it. I could see him feeling that way towards Rob. I'm wondering if something happened betwen them that they didn't show us.

Rajah - interesting comment about the best/worst season ......
I didn't like the outcome at all, but as a season I think it was one of the best ever - lots of twists and turns!

Ugh! I am SO disgusted by the outcome of this show. With Jenna being from my hometown, in a suburb about 40 minutes away, do you think we'll ever hear the end of this??
If I was her parent's I'd just want this thing to go away. There is no reason for them to be proud of her with the way she came off looking.
When she talked about "Matt not needing the money" I couldn't believe it. She really DID think that that should factor into it!!!
Oh, and the part about her Looks being her handicap was priceless!! And the way She referred to herself as being Attractive. She really IS full of herself.

Looking forward to the next Survivorand trying to forget about this one.

Best Survivor ever? No. Maybe the best since the first one, though. And there were definitely plenty of twists and turns to keep the audience's attention.

Probably the best Survivor with the most disappointing ending.

I thought for sure that her "he doesn't need the million, and if I was on the jury that's how I would be judging" spiel would have sank her and swung some votes her way. If there is any one criteria that should influence a vote for the winner it is most definitely NOT THAT!! Judge the winner on how well they played the game and the challenges, on how they contributed to life in the camp and how they worked to help everyone survive -- essentially, on how they earned the right to be the sole Survivor, not on how they need the winnings.

I can accept Jenna winning. But by such a lopsided margin????? Going in I figured Matt had Butch, Christy, and Jenna's votes, and he just needed to swing Rob or Dave (who I thought was more likely to vote for Matt). I saw it, I believe it, but I still don't understand it.

You can put me on the "disappointed that Jenna won" list- BUT having said that I still think it was a great Survivor. I sure as heck wouldn't have voted for her if I had been on the jury, but they were the people who had to put up with her whiny, nasty attitude..... and they DID vote for her.... so maybe we ONLY saw the bad things. Ya think?

Heidi's IQ is higher than Dave's? Ummmmm...... didn't she vote for "Gene" ? Jenna came off much more likeable last night than Heidi..... and I wouldn't have thought that before the reunion show.

I thought the season was great but couldn't believe the ending. Can't understand how Jenna got 6 votes and Matt only got 1. I don't understand how Christy could have voted for Jenna and I thought that Matt answered the questions at the final TC a lot better than Jenna. Her immaturity really showed through.

I too was surprised that on the reunion show that Jeff didn't talk much at all to Matt. He talked more to Alex than Matt. I did like Jeff's comments about Rob though.

My real question is why Matt and Jenna were practically hanging off each other the entire time. I could see this when they were waiting for the votes but they continued all the way through the reunion show and there was nothing said about it. Maybe there will be a comment on the Early Show this morning and someone watching it can comment.

Disappointed with the winner but still thought it was a good season. Rob had a great sense of humour.

Hi guys! Well that was jaw dropping UNBELIEVEABLE!!! We were all so shocked at the outcome.

Best moment of the night was genius Heidi's question to Matt & Jenna about who deserved to be up there more than them. I guess she was shocked that they didn't both think she should be there. LOL!!

On the reunion show I LOVED how Jean handled the whole cute girls vs. mature girls thing and the audience reaction. Shawna, Heidi & Jenna hopefully will learn something from this. Shawna seems like someone who would be extremely annoying to be around for very long in real life.

I think Heidi has the most to regret from how she came off on the show. The look on her face seems like she knows it too. Jenna redeemed herself somewhat but still didn't deserve it.

I wish Jeff had spent more time asking the jury WHY they voted for who they did. I was mad at them for being so stupid. Deena? Come on! What was she thinking voting for Jenna? I thought Christy's explanation of why she voted for Jenna was extremely LAME.

Overall I thought it was a great Survivor. I was soooooooo upset when Richard won Survivor I and it took me a long time to get over it!!! Last night I had to tell myself this doesn't affect me at all and let it go.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments and hope the next Survivor is a good one! In spite of non-deserving Jenna winning, this one was a million times better than the last one when Brian (gag) won.

I think the fact that Deena is such a strong woman, and so pro-women, contributed toward her vote for Jenna. First, a woman would win, and second, at the Q&A during tribal council, she was obviously PO'd that Matt had commented at one point that "may the best MAN win" seeming to dismiss the possibility that a woman could win.

Anyone watching the Morning Show? Someone called in and asked what they used to light the boat on fire, and altho they said that they did have kerosene leftover from a lamp, they seemed a little uncomfortable with the question, and Matt made a comment about "Did we have outside forces helping?" or something like that...didn't catch the answer! Makes you wonder about outside interaction or influence...like really, was it their idea to light the boat, or was it scripted for them? (DH commented about what they were using to light the boat last night too.)

I didn't do too well on the fantasy league last night since I had Butch in 4th, Jenna in 3rd, Rob in 2nd and Matt to win. My final score ended up being 3396. That was an extra, added fun thing to participate in this time around! I hope they do it again next time and we have more DIS teams!

Hi gang! I'm just catching up on this post because I didn't watch the 5/8 episode until just before last night's finale.

I thought that Heidi might be teasing when she talked about being the mastermind. After all she knew from Rob's talk that she was next to go. Maybe she remembered that the cocky ones got the votes so she said that anyway. Or perhaps I'm giving her too much credit. :D
