Survivor 23--South Pacific--No Spoilers**Wed 9/14**

I wish they had gotten rid of Brandon. As much as I couldn't stand Russell at least he was entertaining. Brandon is just sad and strikes me as mentally unstable.

I agree with everything you said Amy!

Last nights episode was meh and next week's challenge looks gross. What is that about? Of course, nothing could be grosser than drinking cows blood mixed with milk...
:worried:

I am totally over Brandon and was hoping they would boot him last night, he appears mentally unstable. It was very disappointing to see them booting Stacey.

Stacey and Christina were on the outs from the beginning. She could have carried the whole tribe on her back and she was still going to go.

Brandon is really more emotionally immature than unstable.

Coach has amazed me. He is so different from his previous two appearances. Who would have though he'd be the stabilizing figure in his tribe? No more rants, rambling stories. I sort of miss the old coach.

I really feel sorry for Brandon. I agree, he is emotionally immature and Coach pinpointed it by saying he is dealing with demons. :sad2: You can almost visualize the good angel on one shoulder and the evil devil on the other when he talks. I like the way Coach tried reining him in (gentle yet firm) with Stop it, Stop it right now, you can't listen to the lies of a person who might be going home and take it for the truth. I like the new Coach versus the one who was living in his fantasy warrior world. Will the real Coach please stand up.

Soooo much of it is in the editing.

In the previous two seasons, Coach was Comic Relief. He was useful to the editors and the producers as "the fall guy", "the clown", the one you can never take seriously. That was his persona, and I have no doubt that he was encouraged to play it up.

This season is his season of Redemption. He is an Older Coach, a Wiser Coach, and they want us to see him as this gentle, nurturing figure.

I personally think that what we see this season is probably more like the real Coach Wade, without the editors putting the "wacky guy" slant on it.

ETA: Besides, who needs any more Comic Relief this season? All we need is Brandon!! I swear if that child breaks down crying about redeeming his family name and making God proud one more time I may throw something at my television.

LOL you are so right. Although next week, with the "don't call me Benjamin" issue we may see a part of old Coach return.

I agree with you on the editing but I think it is the other way around with Coach. The real Coach was the first two seasons and this one is edited to make him look more grounded. Probst was pretty candid on his blogs in the other Coach seasons. I don't think they made it up.

I also think if they reversed the tribes, Coach wouldn't have been playing this role. The other tribe is that sterotypical young, cool tribe and I think they would have simply blown him off.

I couldn't agree with you more. Just like last season, had Rob and Russell been on each others teams, Rob would have went home a lot earlier and Russell would have probably stayed a lot longer.

It's interesting how this season that both Coach and Ozzy have become the leaders in their tribes. They are both fortunate that there is no one willing to stand up and be in charge.

I think that Coach is probably a bit of both personas we've seen. Nice guy, rational (well maybe that is too strong of a word, but heading towards rational, anyway) but with some eccentricities. Things are always edited for interest.

I also figured it would be Stacey simply because she is on the outs. I thought there would be a slight chance it could be Brandon simply because he is so unstable and as the game continues, dependability will become more and more important. I agree with you travelbug24, when you say about the good angel/evil devil on each shoulder... he really does flip back and forth between the two!

Looking forward to next week!

WOW - no comments from anyone after last night's show? Kind of confirms that this is a ho-hum season.

Not sad to see Stacey go after her bitter comments on RI.

Boy, that immunity challenge was GROSS!:scared1: But if you're out there and hungry, I prob. would have washed off the spit and eaten the pork, too!

Nice to see the blindside of Elise. Although it would have been better to try to get Ozzie (and his idol) out. Now Ozzie will know that he's not in complete control.

And Cochran lives to see another day! He just might be the Little Engine that Could!

Cochran reminds me a little of Matt it seems like all the cards are stacked aganist him

Amy -- yeah, this season to me, so far, is just ok. There are some good moments, but a lot of it is isn't really amazing.... at least not yet. It's not the worst season, but by no means the best, either.

I thought Coach's tirade about having no one (not even his parents??) call him Benjamin was a little much, and really, the first truly "off" thing I can recall him doing so far, this season. So I guess that's not bad.

The meat challenge -- ugh!! I couldn't even watch all of it, it was so gross. According to Jeff Probst, they had actually made it grosser... it was originally complete pig, with the head and snout and everything! But he said he just couldn't stand it, so they changed it up a bit, but lathered on the bbq sauce.

I don't think that this season is uninteresting. Elise's blindside was amazing. I can't wait till next week to see Ozzy go off his rocker.

This thread is just dead in the water. How is the spoiler thread doing?

If you thought the challenge was gross, try being a person that gave up eating meat a couple of years ago. I had to hide my eyes. Ick!!!!!

I'm waiting for next week for them to show Ozzie's group getting back to camp and hear his sermon. Voting Elyse out at this point was a good idea. :thumbsup2

Can't stand Coach. He's such an arrogant little man. Ozzy is disappointing me too. Its clear he's thinking with his lower brain this season, so sad.

"COMING TO AMERICA" it was driving me nuts trying to remember what movie Stacy got that phrase from. How she's calling him Benjamin because that's what his mom named him. I did get a kick out of her pissing him off.

Albert is another one who is disappointing me. He's such a follower. MAJOR turn off.

I didn't understand Keith and Whitney ( I think) voting for Dawn. It doesn't seem to do anything for them with Ozzie or the other new group.

I believe they did that so they wouldn't be going against Ozzie. They didn't go with him but they also weren't against him either.

I'm really hoping that Cochran stays around a while - he's pretty funny.

I agree. Ozzy will be pissed at them. He probably won't be too irritated with Cochrane because he'll figure he did what he did, to not get voted out. But Keith, Whitney and Jim -- he'll be livid with them. And in the meanwhile, Keith and Whitney are kind of floater votes... not really with Dawn, Cochrane and Jim, either. So I'm not sure how they really benefited from making this sort of decision, early on in the game.

I think that Keith and Whitney voted for Dawn because they were not ready to throw in their votes with the three. They realize that Ozzy will be mad at them but they could still be in an uneasy alliance with him. I would think that Ozzy would be mad at Jim the most since he changed alliances.

But who knows. Now Ozzy will realize that maybe he trusted the wrong person with the knowledge that he has a HII. Won't it be fun watching him go crazy with wondering when they are going to vote for him?
