Survivor 20**HvV**No SPOILER THREAD**

I completely agree with you. Two times Russell has made potentially suicide moves that any good player would not make. The first was when he didn't play the immunity idol in that last survivor. It was the last time he could play the idol and he wore it around his neck. Stupid move. Then again when he gave the idol to Parvati. He was lucky that Tyson was an idiot and he didn't get played.

Only stupid moves if they fail. Russell has made some bold moves last season and this and he made them work for him. That a big part of Russells appeal.

But how many times have people been voted out with the immunity idol in their pockets? Not a smart move when it is the last time you can use it. No reason at all to wear it around your neck. (Talking about the prior season here). Also, not a smart move to give it away as there is ALWAYS a possibility that can backfire. Always.

If Russell could play the people game as well as he thinks he can play the rest of it, maybe he would have a chance at winning. Since people are a huge part of the game and he seems to hate everyone and thinks everyone else is stupid. then I can't see him ever winning.

I think he did that to peacock his way into swaying their vote--and it worked. While it was risky--admitting that he had it and would use it--would most assuredly invalidate any votes for him and folks ended up not wanting to waste their vote.

Yes--his "confident" nature does affect his overall ability IMHO--but at least in the last season--it only hurt him in the end once people realized it. But thus far, it has been working to keep him in the game. If I'm not mistaken--this tribal was the first time he has seen any votes to get rid of him. To me, that just means the villains are smarter than your average novice player.

Not remembering much of that season other than--even good teams can't catch a break sometimes on AR. They just had a difficult leg. Doesn't mean you suck when it comes to AR though.

Unless it is something stupid like not reading the clue, missing a task--etc.

I don't remember the episode though--other than it was an unfortunate loss as opposed to deserved.

I totally agree with you. I thought they were doing well, I liked them and I don't think they deserved to go home. They were just dominating it so much, it got annoying. And they were not my favorite team, so they were the biggest threat to my team.

They lost because of a road block. I can't remember who did it but I think it was Amber. They had to find a letter at a post office in a huge stack of letters but they couldn't find it. I think they were one of the first ones to arrive there too.

I hate when things come down to pure luck like this. It sucks.

The proof is in the pudding on this one! Is it Russell is it Rob? There really isn't a right or wrong way to play Survivor, you just gotta do what you got to do in order to make it far in the game! So I say lets see who gets further- Boston Rob or Russell??? Also lets take a poll and see who votes for who!

This time it's not voting the person out it's voting for who you think will go to the end!

Russell
OR
Boston Rob

VOTE!!!!!!!

I vote Russell:thumbsup2

Not sure. Both are good players in their own way. Would be disappointed to see either of them not go to the end.

If they were to both go to the end, I think that Rob would be voted the winner over Russell. Just because Russell tends to rub people the wrong way.

I feel that Russell would have won the last season if the jury had been able to see what all went on before voting. I think that they realized at the finale who the better player was. Definately not the blonde, whatever her name was.

Rob has changed from the first season, he's more personable. But still has the grin that makes you think of the little boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Is this a vote for what we want, or for what we think will happen? ;)

What I want:
I'd like to see both Rob and Russell stick around until the very end, with Rob winning it all.

What I think will happen:
I'm afraid both Rob and Russell will be gone far sooner than I'd like.
Everyone out there knows what a strong player Rob is, no way they let him stick around until the end.
I'm still unclear as to whether everyone knows how Russell played last season, but he's already made some big, bold moves that have put a huge target on his back. I don't think they let him stick around until the end either.

No predictions on who goes first, although I agree with whoever said that Russell giving the idol to Parvati may have been enough to reel in doofy Coach, so probably does not bode well for Rob. :sad2:

Just watched the show last night ...

Russel = luckiest player in Survivor history
Boston Rob = Smartest player in Survivor history ... he called it and if Tyson did what Rob said to do, Russel would be gone.

Honestly, what happened last night makes me, for the first time, question the "reality" of Survivor. There was no reason for Tyson to vote for Pavarti. It would have been a tie no matter what scenario occurred. Something stinks ... I think it's the scent of the producers scrambling to keep Russel on this season because he is obviously the guy that everyone loves to hate. Oh well, now the season is wide open. It's obvious the Villains tribe will begin to tear themselves apart, starting with eliminating their strongest players. That's how Russel works. Thanks to Tyson (and possibly producers whispering in his ear), Russel is now guaranteed to make it to the merge, where he will probably be a hidden immunity idol hoarder once again. Tonight proved to me that Russel isn't even one of the top 5 Survivors of all time. Luck is almost an understatement for what happened on the last episode, which leads me to wonder how much influence the producers had over that last episode.

I'm just waiting to see when Pavarti will put him out of his misery. It's bound to happen. Sorry, Russel, but women rule at Survivor. Your days are numbered.

Sorry I don't agree with the conspiracy theory. Tyson had a hate on for Parvati and he wanted to write down her name. I don't understand they didn't have it set up for him to be one of the three to vote for her anyway.

Russell is a smart player and I'm sure that he knew of Tyson's dislike for her. He saw that this might be the only opportunity for him to save himself.

I have to disagree, as well. Tyson knew he was going to be part of that tie. If you know you're getting votes, you know you have the potential to go home--no matter what people are promising you. He disliked Parvati, too, but he also thought he was protecting his own butt.

On a game like this, it has to be real tough to belive, "Don't sweat the votes, we're going to save you." How many people have heard thaat line, only to get their torch snuffed?

I have to admit, both Russell and Rob play a good psychological game--that's what makes them so interesting.

OK, I have been thinking about this, and I am starting to think that the producer's MAY have some influence over what is going on this season. Think about it. Rob is brilliant. He knew how much Tyson wanted Parvati gone, and how uncomfortable he would be being part of a tie vote. so why wouldn't he assign Parvati to Tyson right from the start? If Tyson had Parvati, there would be no way for him to change and mess up the vote. What if, because I truly do believe these Survivor "celebrities" are getting paid a boatload more money per week than their original season, that this whole group had a sit down with some writer's and producer's and have "created" a season. Most of them have been in front of a camera enough times to get a little bit of acting skills under their belt. I can totally see this.

I just don't buy the fact that Rob would assign Russell to Tyson to vote for, when he KNEW he had the potential to change his vote. (the "I beg of you to stick with the plan, it will work" speech). I am sure Rob got wind of something going on between him and Russell before the TC, so he then could have told Tyson he was changing it up..Tyson vote for Parvati, and someone else would vote for Russell.

There have been many season's of Survivor where I scratch my head thinking the only way that happened was because of a set up by the producer's. (Don't get me started on some of the rain that comes down at convenient times). It is a game show, sure, and they have to follow certain rules, but I am sure Mark Burnett has found loop holes in these rules that allow him some interaction with what plays out.

I know people think those of us that believe the producer's can be involved are crazy, but we are entitled to our opinion, and this is what I think. Rob is way too smart a player to have allowed what happened last week, happen. Unless it was "scripted" and everyone was in on it. He's collecting a paycheck every week regardless of what happens. (and being the celeb's they are now, I don't think the stipend stops once they are voted out, they are getting paid for all 39 days, IMO)

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;)

I think Mark Burnett is too smart to try to set up a game show. He has too many irons in the fire with other projects to jeopardize them on a stupid move like this.

"I tried to carry the team on my shoulders for as long as I could & at the end of the day, this is what i get"

lol poor rob, didn't want him to go :sad1:

next week looks hilarious with all the fights

Oh well, that is the end of the villains tribe, they are so dumb, they voted Rob, good luck winning anything without him.

Coach is a little men, he did not kept his word and it would come back to bite him. They'll self destruct. Rob cared about the tribe, that was his weakness, Russ cares like any egomaniac just about himself.

Go heroes!

Game over indeed. The villains are done for in challenges. Once the merge happens, see ya Russell.

Coach - Dumbest player ever.
Russell - Scumiest player ever.
Parvati - Most undeserving winner ever.

Exactly. How could they sit there, listen to Russell talk, and then side with him? Is the lack of food and water making them insane?
