Surprise announcement update!

Speaking of Iger, he seemed to like the idea of a global parks pass when someone suggested it a few years back.

I haven't read much of the thread so perhaps that was already suggested. It would not seem to warrant all the hype though, so it's probably not it.

There wasn't a lot of hype when they came out with the Premier Passport that I recall. And the market for a "Global Passport" is probably pretty small. Plus he'd have to get the other park owners on board (Disney does not fully own any of the international parks).

This may be stretching or wishful thinking...."Leap" year....Hopping or leaping from park to park....free park hopper option :D please oh please oh please

Hadn't thought of that option! That would be about a $300 savings for my family of 5, but we'd already decided to forgo the PH option this year in order to save the money.

Whatever it is, I'm patiently waiting....trying not to obsess too much!

The motif of the advance promotion is CLOCKS.

Time, hours, days, dates, etc.

Yes and the commercial that played during the parade clearly said, "what would you do with one more day? How many more memories could be made?" or something very similar to that.

One More Disney Day - is what the page says, so yes I think it is more about one more day than time...

Whatever it is I am excited  Only Disney could make me this excited about a commercial :rotfl2:

As I was watching the parade, I noticed a lot about the Fantasy Land Expansion AND the new animation resort. Planning videos have also delved deeper into...what is your dream / fantasy?

I wonder if there will be some new strategy on fully immersive experiences that will give you MINUTES, HOURS, or DAYS of pleasure.

I would bet Disney could make a lot of $$ if they are started promoting things like guided VIP tours better. I remember years ago that Disney had dining plans that could be added on to packages. I think that back in those days, a small percentage of people took advantage of them. Disney repackaged them and made them a cash cow. I think the same could be said for the guided tours.

Could you imagine a KTTK tour or something thrown in? Awesome! We would have to have it then.

I could also see a great new program that uses the RCID technology, or smart phone technology.

We'll have to wait and see.

Undercover tourist is already giving a free day when you buy a three, four, five day ticket. I think it will be a free day added to your multi-day ticket. Are there any bookies taking bets on this. Oh I forget, I don't gamble.

A free day added onto your ticket would be stupid. I sure hope it isn't that. That's worth what? $5 or $6 per person? :confused3

Maybe something along the lines of a free day added onto your vacation package? Stay 3 nights, get one free -- free ticket, dining, resort room? Of course, they want people to stay longer, like a full week, so maybe not. If it was stay 6 nights, get one free, that wouldn't be much of a deal either, not compared to a flat resort discount, or free dining.

OK, here's my best, completely unfounded, shot at this.

It won't be one day added to your ticket. That's just nutty since it's only worth $8 to most folks. They did far better with the birthday and the give a day promotions. That would not make a difference in staffing levels when the announcement is made.

My guess is that if you make a minimum length stay between now and whatever cutoff date they choose for the promotion, you will get a full value, upgradeable ticket redeemable once the Fantasyland Expansion is done. I also think they will give a better timeline for when that will be. That value would be around $90. Or you could choose the special fastpass option like with the other promotions.

Stay tuned...............

I was thinking an extra night would be included with that extra day because, like others are saying, an extra day on your tickets is worth practically nothing.

I just got off the phone making a reservation a while ago and had a very chatty CM. I asked if he knew what this was about and he said it's supposed to be a variety of things. Everything from info re: the Fantasyland Expansion (things that hadn't previously been announced/released) to some major promo. He said they weren't given many details other than beginning January 1st, it's going to be very busy for them. He said they're not normally given that kind of warning of how busy it's going to get unless it's something very big like free dining, but he doesn't know exactly what it will be, just that it will be BIG. Now, I know hearing this from a phone reservationist CM may be along the same lines of "hearing it from the bus driver", but he sounded pretty certain. We shall see! :goodvibes

thanks for sharing this! i'm pretty excited now!!

Honestly though, on a 1 week stay, that's not much of a discount (about 15%). It might be where this is headed since they want to cut back on discounts. But it's not going to cause a huge influx of calls when it's announced. Compared to the 4/3 deal they used to do, it really pales in comparison.

Surely there's a gossipy WDW bus driver willing to spill the beans! They're usually on board when it comes to surprise announcements like this. The suspense is driving me crazy, and considering the minimal vacation funds I've set aside, there's a lot riding on this announcement. Either way, I'm lovin' all the fanfare, and finding it hard to curb my enthusiasm. :rolleyes1

The idea is to get people to watch the NYE program to see the announcement. They are not going to release the info early to bus drivers or phone cm's so that they can spoil the suspense.

Yet another way they get the parks to prop up the network...
