Surfing at Typhoon Lagoon?

We are going to WDW in July My DH is interested in taking the surfing class that they offer at Typhoon Lagoon in the morning before the water park opens. Has anyone tried this? I would love to hear your experience good or bad. Thanks

I've never been to Typhoon Lagoon so I'm no help for you, sorry. I'll just bump this back to page one so that some of our veterans can share their experiences.

My 15 year old DS went surfing at TL last April. This was the highlight of his trip!!! He loved it so much he is going again this April and bringing along a few of his buddies so they can try it too.
All of the adults and kids had a wonderful time, and the instructors were great.
Be sure to make a reservation....they only have surfing on certain days. Be prepared to rise early, you have to report to TL by 6:45am, and you will have to provide your own transportation .

Thanks for the info Capegirl! I think my DH will really enjoy it too. He is not one to get up early but I don't think I'll have a problem getting him up for surfing. Now I just need to find a fun mother daughter thing for me and my 4 yr old DD to do while Daddy is surfing. Thanks again.

My daughter and future daughter-in law at the time, 20 & 2l did the surfing and they loved it. I was in charge of the video camera and got some pretty good movies. They were sore some after but it was worth it. You have to get up early though! And it is not cheap but the instructors do a great job.
