Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

Really enjoying reading your reviews of the DCL restaurants. The family and I have been to WDW three times in the past three years, but haven't done the DCL yet. We're strongly considering it at some point, and these reviews are a HUGE help. Have a great trip, and look forward to reading more when you get back!

I apologize for not updating, but it has been a rather stressful week at school

AND

we are leaving for WDW and another DREAM cruise tomorrow morning. So please be patient until we return.
I might pop in and let you know what WDW looks like next week!

See ya again real soon! :flower3:

You will have so much more to tell us about from this trip :yay:

I am very sorry I haven't been around here much lately! :sad2:

My excuse .....

Tom and I went to Florida for a few days of Disney fun and a cruise on the Disney DREAM!

If you are interested in the details, here is the link to my trip report:

Pixie dust on our DREAM vacation!

Nathans franks are GOOD!!! Make sure they cook it a little well done.. just a little... the casing has such good taste!!! & don't forget the extras... I can't eat mustard so everyone looks down on me for having ketchup on me (such a sin!!!) but it's the best I can do... &&&& Don't forget the fries... they are THE BEST!!! I get some cheese to dip them in.

We checked out where exactly the hotel is at the airport and had a look where Nathan's is. Unfortunately we were too full to give them a try, but it should work out nicely during our summer vacation! :thumbsup2

I made a note of having them cook the franks a bit well done! And I am sure fries will be a must! :goodvibes

Thank you!

I'm really enjoying your reviews!! It took me the last 4 hours to read and get caught up and enjoyed every minute!

Thank you for sharing.:thumbsup2

I am so happy you enjoy the reviews - there are a lot more to come and I intend to really hurry up more with them! :goodvibes

Have a safe and fun trip Karin & Tom! Can't wait to read about it when you get back. Bon Voyage!

Thank you, Chris!
We had such a fun trip - everything worked out picture perfect, what else could we have wanted? Just want to update here and on last summer's trip report, before I head over to post the first installment on our February trip report! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful trip! This is probably too late for you, but I got an email notice today from Dooney and Burke that they have 30% off on their Disney purses with free shipping. I jumped right on that but don't know how long it would last. Would they ship to you at WDW? :rotfl:

Thank you! :goodvibes
Guess what, all the inaugural D&B's on the DREAM were 40% off! :scared1: Needless to say the one I wanted at WDW, was full price ...... but it's a beauty! Thank god for AP discounts! :rotfl2:

I am glad you enjoy the reviews, especially the DCL ones! :goodvibes
If you enjoy WDW you will enjoy DCL as well. The service is just outstanding and they make you so very welcome and feeling like part of a HUGE family! We cannot wait to go back this summer for a back to back cruise, a double dip and a 4 night cruise - 9 nights on board = :cloud9:

Hope you both are having a wonderful time! Looking forward to the next set of reviews! :goodvibes

Tanz, we had a wonderful time on the DREAM!
You would love a DCL cruise too ..... I am SURE!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Hi Jeff!
We had a really fun time on board the DREAM and at WDW. BLT was awesome, you should definitely consider it for your next stay.
We had a Bay Lake view, but from our balcony we could see part of Main Street (if you hung out a bit :rotfl2:), the Contemporary, WL and all the other parks (ToT, SE and Everest) and even the DTD balloon - it was just awesome!!!!!!!!
Oh, and yes, I do have quite a lot of trip reports, dining reviews and cruise meets, but I enjoy them too much to NOT do them! :rotfl2:

Cabanas does look nice and fresh, hope the lukewarm theme gets better :thumbsup2 I have a feeling that tow mater grill will be a fav with the kids on our trip.

You will have so much more to tell us about from this trip :yay:

The food is really nice and very fresh, all I have to complain about is the temperature.
While on board we talked to some CMs who work in the shop and they had the same complaint - they said that they only went there for Sushi and dessert. :rotfl2:
The CS stations are really good, fast and efficient - and HOT!!!!!! :lmao:

And we were not able to fit in another Champagne tasting this trip, but there is always our summer trip - we'll have 9 nights and we NEED to fit it in! :goodvibes

Followed the link from you newest trip report to find food porn!! Loving it!

Welcome! :goodvibes
I love to have you here - and I promise I will update on a more regular basis, now that we are back again! :thumbsup2

Day 14, August 26

Enchanted Garden

Now, where did we leave off?

Oh, I remember, Champagne tasting

Our dinner asignment this evening was at the Enchanted Garden. Since we did the tasting and had snacked during the afternoon we weren't really hungry, but you cannot let that wonderful food go to waste, so we joined our fellow cruisers for dinner.

IMG_1672.jpg

Ana was right there with drinks and we ordered our starters and while we waited for them to be served we snacked on the

IMG_1664.jpg

Multi Grain Loaf and Country Current Bread

with chickpea-garlic puree. The bread was fresh and slightly warm and the puree was really yummy, not too garlicy, just right. :thumbsup2

Very shortly after our drinks had arrived, our starters were served. Tom had ordered the

IMG_1665.jpg

Thyme and Garlic Brioche, filled with chanterelle, hedgehog and black trumpet mushrooms and leek stew in a light buttermilk cream, which was delightful. The Brioche was really fresh, and the mushrooms had a wonderful rich taste!

I had decided on trying some soup, the

IMG_1669.jpg

Cream of Asparagus soup, served with Asparagus tips. I love Asparagus soup and this one was very good. Very creamy with a rich asparagus taste and lots of asparagus bits. I really enjoyed, especially when eaten with a little bit of the nice bread.

Sapto had offered Tom some

IMG_1674.jpg

Prime Rib with Thyme roasted vegetables and a double-baked potato, which he gladly accepted and very much enjoyed. I don't know how they get the temperatures on the meats SO right, but they do it perfectly. The vegetables had still just a little bit of bite and the potato was really awesome! :thumbsup2

I felt like having a "healthy" option today! :lmao: So I ordered the

IMG_1671-1.jpg

Baked Salmon, which came with a Baked Potato and a medley of vegetables. The Salmon was a bit overcooked and dry, but still enjoyable and Ana loaded my baked potato with lots of sour cream and cheese and it was wonderful. I loved to have a variety of veggies too ...... this is something I soley miss - a plate of regular salad and some veggies with my food. ;)

We were stuffed, but Ana and Sapto made sure we did not skip dessert! :rotfl2:

So we ordered the two Austrian/Hungarian specialities on the menu.
Tom went for the

IMG_1678.jpg

"Sacher" Chocolate Torte with apricot sauce. This is a very traditional Austrian cake and the one on the DREAM only seemed to be a VERY distant cousin. :rotfl2: Nice try, but not the real thing.

I wanted a dessert that originated in the Austrian/Hungarian monarchy, the

IMG_1676.jpg

Esterhazy Cake, Almond meringue soaked in maraschino liqueur and layered pastry cream. Again, it was a nice try but far from the real thing. Nevertheless I really enjoyed it. The layers of cake were much more cakey than the one we have here and the pastry cream filling has more of an almond taste here. But it was a nice little dessert, just not Esterhazy Cake. ;)

While we were still enjoying our desserts, Sapto brought out a plate of sweets.

IMG_1680-1.jpg

cubes of cocoa dusted Fudge and Papaya flavoured fruit jelly. I liked the Fudge but found the fruit jelly to be a bit too much on the sweet side.

We rolled out of the restaurant, went back to our stateroom for a short rest, then up two decks to watch the fireworks.
After the fireworks we walked back through Cabanas

which offered a Pirate buffet that day.

I couldn't possible eat any more sweets, but we found something we just wanted to try.

IMG_1683-1.jpg

A HUGE turkey leg! We took it back to our room and nibbled on it while sitting out on the veranda enjoying the night air and the sound of the waves. :goodvibes

Next up - Royal Palace

Good to read that you love the photos! :goodvibes
And the way we eat I am wondering myself that we don't gain much more weight - maybe there is some truth in the rumour that there are NO calories at Disney. ;) :rotfl2:
Okay, yes, there is a lot of walking involved and we love to call our walks to deliver FE gifts, our workout. And the stairs are really pretty, so we often walk up and down instead of using the elevator, but otherwise ....... popcorn::

As for the D&B ...... I got one of the new ones and the poor girl had to take each and every one she had, down, so I could have a close look until I finally found the one I actually bought!
Hope you find yours soon too! They are wonderful! :thumbsup2

Welcome back Karin, looking forward to the rest of your reviews :goodvibes

I love the look of your salmon and baked potato entree at EG, is that something that is listed on the menu or was it a special request?

I don't seem to remember seeing it mentioned on the regular EG menu

It was one of the "healthy" options at the bottom of the regular menu. I think I had a choice of sides and the baked potato and veggies sounded just too good! :thumbsup2

Hope that link works for you.
