Surf and Turf Disney Style…..30 days of food on land and at sea! 06/16 WPE

Day 15, August 27

Royal Palace

Another Nassau day!
Again, we started our day with breakfast at the Royal Palace.

IMG_1695.jpg

Again, Tom ordered some coffee while I had some

IMG_1685-1.jpg

hot tea.

Being creatures of habit we went for something we both loved when we had had it before.

Tom ordered the

IMG_1689.jpg

Swiss Bircher Muesli, Muesli with raisins, shredded apples and yogurt, which is very nice, not too sweet and just the right amount of yoghurt to make it smooth and silky.

I went with MY favourite .....

IMG_1687.jpg

IMG_1686.jpg

Mornin' Tug Boat, fresh blend of strawberries, bananas, almonds, raisin granola and low-fat yogurt. Creamy, silky, with a lot of strawberry taste! Just wonderful!

My main course option was

IMG_1690.jpg

IMG_1691-1.jpg

Disney Cruise Line Breakfast Trio, French toast, Belgian waffle, and buttermilk pancakes served with cinnamon butter, syrup and whipped cream, accompanied with bacon. Now, this was the only mistake I made this trip. I did not like this breakfast. Both, the pancake and the French toast were rather dry and the waffle was one of the square (frozen kind) waffle, which tasted mainly of cardboard.
I may add that the bacon was crispy and the strawberry wonderful, but forget about the rest of it. ;)

Tom's choice was

IMG_1692.jpg

IMG_1693.jpg

the Express, Scrambled eggs, grilled ham, bacon, sausage. and hash browns. He liked his breakfast a lot more than I did mine! :thumbsup2

It came with

IMG_1694.jpg

toast. Tom chose the white toast. And that was it ...... white toast. ;)

Next up - Royal Palace

Mmm another yummy breakfast at RP :)
Shame that your main dish wasn't so great but I love the look of the strawberry/banana/granola dish
Ooh by the way, you asked if I had seen the pictures of the adult district on the Fantasy .... Yes I have and it looks stunning!
Can't wait to be sipping a glass of champagne in the 'Ooh La La' bar !! :)

Timing wise, your update was great! It is breakfast time here. I am ready for it now!!!:rotfl2:

We are really impressed with the food quality on board the DREAM and especially loved to dine at RP, even if my choice of the DCL trio wasn't a good one.
The Mornin' Tug Boat is delicious, Linda! I really hope they have it on the Fantasy, so you can try it too! :thumbsup2
:woohoo: Ooh, la la, Linda, I cannot wait to see pictures of you at the Ooh La La Bar! :goodvibes

Yeah! I wonder if it works out with the next update as well! :thumbsup2

Day 15, August 27

Royal Palace

We spent the morning in Nassau and then walked back to the ship for lunch. We again chose the Royal Palace.
After we had ordered some Diet Cokes, they brought out

IMG_1729.jpg

a breadbasket full of cut pieces of baguette and some rolls. We were both pretty hungry and had a piece or two with some butter.

Tom had ordered the

IMG_1733.jpg

Chilled Strawberry Soup as his starter. While it was really nice it was more like an early dessert, but he enjoyed it none the less.
I had chosen

IMG_1730.jpg

IMG_1731-1.jpg

a Selection of Antipasto, - Brescaola, marinated olives, shaved parmesan and a grissini stick with a roasted garlic dip. It was a wonderful starter - the Brescaola was really nice and the olives were wonderful. I loved the fresh parmesan and the grissini was really nice with the dip. I would order that same thing again in a heart beat!

Tom's main course were the

IMG_1737.jpg

IMG_1736-1.jpg

Tamarind-glazed Beef Kebabs, skewered with peppers, mushrooms and onions served on cracked wheat. We were both amazed as they were cooked to perfect medium and well seasoned. We both don't usually eat cracked wheat, but this was really tasty and went very well with the kebabs.

I wanted to try the

IMG_1734.jpg

IMG_1735.jpg

Salad Nicoise, Tuna, tomatoes, green beans, potatoes, eggs, black olives and crisp lettuce with balsamic dressing. It was as good as it looked. Fresh green salad leaves, veggies and a huge helping of tuna, all drizzled with yummy dressing. What could be better on a hot summer's day?

We both skipped dessert because of two reasons.
Reason one - we had gotten to the restaurant later than we had actually wanted to and now did not want to hold them up cleaning and preparing for dinner and
Reason two - we did not want to be late for wine tasting ..... ;)

Next up - Wine tasting at Meridian

Yummy food! It's not wise to read your stuff and be on a diet at the same time...I am blaming you for my failures! :lmao:

Exclamation *New Guidelines Pre-trip and Dining Reviews*PLEASE READ IF YOUR REVIEW IS IN PROGRESS
First the mods would like to thank everyone for the reviews. We love to read them and share in everyone's trip.

Dining Review Guidelines

Pre-trip dining plan threads will be closed when the actual trip begins

Dining reviews have a shelf life of 3 months, once you begin your review. So if you go in January, you beging your dining review in March, please complete it by June.

Reviews only, any questions should be posted on the main Food Boards

For any reviews currently in progress, if they have been going less than 3 months, great! Keep going and can't wait to read the end.

More than 3 months - let's wrap it up folks!

Thank you everyone and again, thank you for sharing your trips and food porn with us all

???????? Are you a moderator? Kind of an odd thing to post if you aren't. Usually mods do this kind of thing via PMs. Considering most trips are 4-7 days and this one was a month long, I think we can cut a little slack...ad another 3 months per week at least. ;)

Blame the food! :rotfl2: But then .... it can't be blamed ...... it is Disney food, no calories, remember? ;)
Now, that proves it again ..... I AM TO BLAME!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Yay!!! You're back! Missed you so much!:yay: Can't wait to read more and hear about your most recent trip. We are doing Disney Dream 3day in October and just scored a 1BR with lake view at BLT for the 5 nights prior!!!!

Day 15, August 27

Wine Tasting at Meridian

We walked up to Meridian a little early and were pleasantly surprised to find George, our sommelier at the Champagne tasting, preparing everything for the Wine tasting. We all had a good laugh as we had just been chatting about his time on the Wonder the day before.
He told us that since there were only 4 people who had signed up for the wine tasting he was going to do an "all Italian wines" tasting.
We were actually a bit worried that there would only be four of us .... but we trusted George.
They had set the placemats at the bar.

IMG_1741-1.jpg

and then the other guests arrived! And when we turned around it was the biggest surprise ever. The other guests were two wonderful cruisers from Great Britain, Allison and her husband, who actually were in our FE group!

IMG_1739-1.jpg

Okay, and this is where the photos of Wine Tasting end! :rotfl2:

I remember that there was a glass of Rosa Regale, which I so do not like - far too sweet, but I remember having quite some nice crisp white wines and a wonderful white sparkling wine, which was offered at Palo at a very reasonable price!

All I can add is ........ we had a lot of FUN!!!! ;)

Next up - A Karamell Kuche treat

The wine tasting sounds wonderful Karin :)
Did you sign up for them as soon as you got on board?
It doesn't look like it was too busy

I might be wrong, but as far as I remember we only signed up that morning for it. I read about it in the Personal Navigator and after breakfast we went to guest services to sign up for it!
The one we went to on the WONDER had about 15 people, but the one on the DREAM was definitely a "family" affair. :rotfl2:

It was real fun ..... I wholeheartedly recommend it, Linda! :thumbsup2

Day 15, August 27

A treat from Karamell Kuche

After the wine tasting we needed a break, so we retreated to our stateroom and watched one of their "on demand" shows.

I felt the need for something sweet, so I dug out a treat I had brought along, a treat from Karamell Kuche

IMG_1761-1.jpg

their famous caramel pop corn. :worship: Love it! :thumbsup2

Tom in the meantime had a treat of his own ....

IMG_1765-1.jpg

..... and NO, he did not finish it all! :rotfl2: Most of the bottles came home with us unopened! ;)

Next up - 687 Bar

Day 15, August 27

687 Bar

Much later that afternoon we decided that it was about time to check out the bars on board the ship.

Now 687 offers a custom brewed beer, so this is what Tom wanted to try. 687 is kind of a sports bar and shows lots of memorabilia from the ship's "time in the Meyer Werft". (687 being the number of the ship while being built!)

IMG_1773-1.jpg

So, Tom ordered his

IMG_1770.jpg

687 beer, which he enjoyed very much - no comments from me, I don't drink beer.

I had ordered a

IMG_1769-1.jpg

Diet Coke :rotfl2: which came in a "fabulous can", and the poor server had to go fetch it somewhere else. :lmao: It was nice and cold and "like always". :thumbsup2

They also brought out this little dish

IMG_1772.jpg

full of salted Cashew nuts. I might ask, that they went very well with BOTH drinks! ;)

Next up - Skyline

Thanks as always Karin :goodvibes
As you can probably tell I am getting crazy excited for our upcoming cruise
Great updates by the way, I will certainly be paying a visit to some of the bars in May, we just didn't get time on our three day cruise on The Dream

I think we are both getting excited ;) .... and I am excited to read your trip report and cruise experiences too! :thumbsup2

Linda, we didn't even have time to fit in half of what we had planned doing during our 4 night cruise!
I cannot wait for the summer ones when we go back to back and have 9 nights on board! :thumbsup2
AND definitely check out the bars ... they are awesome and so much fun to be at! :goodvibes

Great updates Karin. I was a little surprised when you said the beef kabobs were a perfect medium as they look very overdone. Guess they must have tasted better then they looked.

I must admit, I am blaming you personally for the fact that I really now want to sail on the Dream ;)

Yikes! I missed your post! SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Have you been on the DREAM before? She is such a beautiful ship and those three days will just rush by. There is so much to do and see!
:woohoo: for scoring a 1br for BLT!!!!! We stayed there (in a studio) on our February trip and fell in love with that place!
You cannot beat the location, walking to the MK is awesome and the ToTW lounge is fab!
Fireworks from the deck - AWESOME!!!! ... and then just walking back to your room, we were spoiled! ;) :thumbsup2

Looking at the picture of the kabobs again, they do look done, but they were not. They were perfectly pink in the middle. Tom enjoyed them a lot and he could not stop commenting on it! :goodvibes

So, you are blaming me for wanting to sail on the DREAM - here's my remedy for that ........ DO IT!!!!!!! and maybe book a B2B!!!!!! ..... that is even better! :rotfl2:

Love the updates! Looks like some fun adult time :goodvibes

We really enjoyed the adult areas on the ship :goodvibes and even returned to them for several visits! :rotfl2:

Day 15, August 27

Skyline Lounge

Once we had finished our 687 drinks, we strolled outside for a while until we ended up in Skyline.
It was pretty quiet in there, so we decided to just grab a seat and have a drink.
One of the Cast members came over, explained the "skyline" and the menu, but since I had no clue, I left it up to the Cast member to get me a drink.

IMG_1779.jpg

IMG_1775.jpg

Now, what can I remember about it? I liked it a lot! ..... and it had a glow cube! :rotfl2:

And this is what Tom's drink looked like .....

IMG_1777.jpg

No idea what it was, but he too enjoyed it very much! ;)
