My first attempt of moon photography. I took this about 3am this morning. I actually just wanted to find the right settings, so that I could get some photo's at 6am which was the time given for the best viewing of the super moon. It was a bit windy even on a tripod, so it's not as sharp as I had hoped for. But I'm glad I got the shot, even if this is the best I could get. I cropped the photo once I got it on the computer. I was up at 5 to get the perfect shot, & as luck would have it the moon was hiding behind trees. I could only see a sliver of the moon peeking through the trees. However if what I read is correct, the moon should appear about as full in the June 22 evening sky as it does on the evening of June 23rd. So hopefully if that's true, I can attempt a few more shots later this evening.
I would love to see your shots!
I apologize if the photo is too big, I used to be able to select small, medium, or large on photo bucket, but I couldn't figure out how to resize.

If anyone has any tips or experience with moon photography, I could use some advice. I read the first article I came across about photographing the moon just minuets before I was out trying to snap a few photo's.

Here's mine, taken 9:23 pm last night in North Central Florida.

Me too....any tips would be awesome.

Great Super Moon shots. I was planning on taking a few shots but as luck would have it the skies were overcast before I went to bed and I usually wake up during the night but not last night :(

I am Hopeing to try again tonight.

I read up some on moon shots and seems a tiny aperture is best f/22, although another suggested if handheld f/8-9 and shutter 1/1000-1/1500 and iso 800-1000

Tripod being used aperture f/11-f/14 shutter speed 1/125-1/250, iso 100-200

Oh and at least a 200mm lens

I have not used a SLR since before the first Digital cameras came on the scene so I recently bought a MFT system and the Super Moon is going to be my first project using it.

I just was told shoot low iso

Start at f8 since that generally is the sharpest your lens gets.

Start at 1/250 and move from there
Wb, metering are useless that far away. And as far as you can zoom which was 300mm for me. I took mine handheld since the moon was so bright there was no need for a tripod at those speeds some on my flickr are 1/500.

Anyway i just zoomed in to check my exposure on my camera l lcd.

It was my first time to.

The sun still hadn't set here at 10pm when the moon was coming over the neighborhood.

Cropped/sharpened, F/8, 1/250 sec., ISO 100
I like this one better than my first attempt.
