Southwest and a few other Airlines are showing $98 RT for travel until June 12th. ($115.20 with Txs/Fees)
Anyone else thinking of taking advantage of these great fares and going for a few days???
We are going Aug.30th till Sept. 3rd but these fares are so great I would love to take a few days in June and go down!!
It's soooo irresistable....I really, really would love to break down and buy them!
Anybody else out there feel the same???
Debbie

I just booked on SW and figuring if we couldn't go then I'd use the credit to rebook for our Dec trip....I'm loving SW more each day..

We booked a long-weekend trip in May because of these great rates. Really shouldn't spend the money since we just went in January, but I couldn't resist. Esp. with those APs burning a hole in my pocket!

I LOVE Southwest!:hyper:

We wish SW would come to the Midwest, LOL.

OMG! I got the email this morning, and I am FLIPPING! I AM considering taking a weekend trip to Tampa and going to Busch Gardens for two days. When do Fla schools get out?

Zurgswife,How do you get a credit? If I buy 2 round-trip tickets from SWA and then decide not to go do they give me a credit voucher? Do you have to call them ahead of time? How does this work?
Debbie

If you don't go either go online and cancel or call and cancel.

You then have a credit good for a year from your original booking date to use. (On some tickets you can get a refund, but not on these really cheap seats!) Your original confirmation number is your credit number.

When you book again, click the button that says something like Apply ticketless travel funds. Put in your confirmation number, select the funds you want to use and book! VERY EASY!

I'm also doing a last minute trip the day after DD gets out of school...just the two of us. Between that and the AP rates I could pass it up....I'm using USAIR though...they matched SW air price and I have better times!!!! And assigned seats!!!! I also got a $180.00 credit for our family trip in August....I'm sooo excited!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Southwest is great, paid $135 RT last summer for Direct, non-stops from Buffalo.

JUST booked for late august on Delta out of Syracuse, paid $94+taxes ($119) roundtrip!! Lowest I ever paid.....

CarolA,Thank you for the info. Now I understand competely.I have only flown with Southwest once for my vacation to Disney and I did not know you could cancel your tickets and get a credit if you decided not to use them. That's great! I think I'll be using Southwest alot more!
I'm still unsure wether to go in June or not because we are going a couple months after that too. It's so hard to pass up a great deal!!
Debbie

Hey Everybody,I had resigned myself we were not going to take advantage of these rates because it was so close to the time we were originally going the end of August but guess what???? YUP,you guessed it! We broke down and just purchased our tickets tonight on Southwest.com! I'm soooo happy.....We are booked for June 9-12th. It totalled $115.20 RT PP (which includes taxes/fees)!!
I kept asking and asking and asking about going while the fares were great and finally today I said it was the last time I would ask..so I figured we were not going...but low and behold my enthusiasm (and nagging) paid off!! This is so great.I know everybody is just as excited as I am!
Good Travels to everyone!!!
Debbie

Congratulations, Debbie. I am still trying to figure out if we can go. DH and I would like to make a solo trip for just a couple of days, so we're trying to figure out a plan for the kiddies. I'm afraid by the time we're ready to do it the fares will all be gone :(

TOTALLY! Wish we could get them up here for some competition.

I just booked a spur of the moment trip for June on Monday, thanks to these great Southwest deals!! Four RT tickets out of Manchester, NH was $460.00 total with taxes/fees!! :):) Can't beat that!! :)

I also booked an extra trip that I was not going ot be able to afford before the low airfare. Just two adults going for the pin event in July. You can't beat $118.90 out of SYR. It never is that low. Now my exact flight is up to $222. I'm glad I booked when I did. Last Thursday while SU b'ball was losing I had to uplift my spirits so I booked a trip. Yeah for AP's.

Another Midwesterner pining over the fares on SW and others out of the East Coast! I think I'll send an e-mail or letter to Southwest inviting them to come to Minnesota. Anyone else want to join in? Maybe if they see there is a demand, they'll actually consider it. There is plenty of room at the HHH terminal.

I have never flown Southwest. How does it work with the seat assignements (or lack thereof)? I'm planning on going in May, and it will be just me with my 2 kids. I really don't want to be split up from them -- is it a free-for-all with seats or not a problem?
(sorry about the semi-hijack of the thread!:) )

From what I have read they don't assign seats...one of the reasons I have yet to book them (also their times are just so-so). From what I have read and from the person I spoke to when I called SW you get a letter on you boarding pass....A-B or C and then you board according to your letter and you pick your seats when you get there.....I'm a bit too neurotic to even consider that...I'd be so nervous I wouldn't sleep the nite before! I've read on this board that it goes okay...but still...I'd rather have my seat assignment especially w/ kids!

thanks, I thought that's how it worked, but I wasn't sure. I guess it's a matter of the fare being low enough to warrant that type of seating assignment .
I'm almost at that "no return" point. I'm afraid if I don't book soon, with my trip only 7 weeks out, the rates are going to just increase from here on out. But, I've been holding out, hoping that they'll go down a little bit more. Is there any type of trend with regard to rates going up or down closer to the travel date?

I see you are in Jersey? Are you flying from Philly-Newark-NY? In the past they went up out of Philly....I know I booked my June trip 3/11....it has gone up a $100.00....now if I would have waited SW would have been about $50.00 ($25.00 a seat) cheaper than I paid thru USair...but the morning flight is not available at the cheaper rate and we are only going for 4 days....so I wouldn't have booked thru them anyway....I'd book at a rate you feel comfortable if they go down thru SW or Usair you will get a credit if you call....
