Super Goofs Team 4 Miles Challenge

Cecilia: Good job with the miles!:thumbsup2

Kristi: The treadmill hills would have kicked my tushy! I hate hills, no matter what form they take!:rolleyes1 Sometimes, when something like the mat in the van incident happens to me, I think it's someone trying to tell me something (and I usually listen!:thumbsup2 ) It was just not meant to be.

Lisa: Did a see 'slug' somewhere??? No, I don't think so!!!! You are doing great, and I don't see that you have anything to 'make up' for. Keep doing your thing, and I am glad you are feeling better! Now, be careful, don't step on the panda slug when you are cranking your miles out!!!!

Groovygirls: Wow, I am so glad I didn't get any Thin Mints this year. I can't eat just a few......They are consumed sleeve, by sleeve by sleeve. Especially frozen......oh my.......I need to stop thinking about them. :scared1: I LOVE THEM!

Yesterdays totals (Wednesday)

Time: 30 min
Miles: 2

I was just so tired yesterday, I couldn't do any more......my dh almost had a stroke when I came back downstairs after only 30 minutes. He thought I must be sick......but I was just tired. I need a day off I guess...

Beth

Cecilia: You continue to inspire. WTG.

Beth: Frozen thin mints...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Kristi: Of course this was a message from above and the powers should not be questioned right???!!! Have you signed up for Great Bay yet??? I got an email that Smutty Nose is now sponsoring an after race party!!!!! :drinking1 :rolleyes1 Angie........

Angie: There is an article in this month's Runners World (pg 112) on blister treatment and prevention. I thought it might give you some insight on how to treat any remaining and/or prevent any future. There is an article on socks too. And since you think you are the nonperformer for the week, check your shoes for Panda slugs. They tend to slow you down a little...:sad2:

ok, enough about the Girl Scout cookies, I have 126 CASES in my living room right now...as if that isnt enough temptation, you all keep talking about how good they are....AAARRGGGHH

Lisa, I saw that article, I already bought a blister kit to have on hand, and I have ordered several different kinds of socks. I figure I'll just keep trying them until one works for me!

So, do you think I would be ok (and able) to do the Great Bay Half on 4/6 and the Minnie on 5/4? Keeping in mind that my longest training run has been 10 miles, and my longest race I only made it 11 miles. And I'm slow. And prone (now) to blisters? Do you think they are too close together, or would I have enough recovery time in between? I've already registered and booked for the Minnie...

Angie: I have no answer for the timing between Great Bay and Minnie. Four weeks would be enough for me to go another 9 miles but that is me. My longest run for the WDW half was 8 miles and I had to take 2 weeks off about 3 weeks before the race (okay so I only made it a week and a half but don't tell my doc). I truly believe from the bottom of my heart that it is the blister issue that has kept you from completing a half, not your desire or your training. In the end, you have to do what is right for you. Having said that, if you don't enter with us, you are expected to scream team for us!!!! :rotfl:

Angie: In 2006 I did 2 1/2 marathons two weeks apart and actually PR'ed on the second one.....I think it should be fine for you. Both of mine were Elite racing sponsered events (VA beach and the Philly Distance run) I earned myself a third medal by doing both close together like that. I did fine with it.

Beth

Angie-
I would suggest you go for it, too! My longest run prior to the half was 7 miles but I did this distance several times a week. It is very difficult for me to find the time to put in any longer distance due to my youngest DD being in school for such a short time in the AM. The amazing energy at Disney will get you through it!

Do you think your blisters were from wet and cold sneakers more than anything else? Just a thought.

Remember our WISH motto- DLF> DNF>>DNS

So see you at Great Bay!

Joanne

Four miles on the dreadmill in 45 minutes and 45 minute spin class. Is it ever going to warm up here?

Girlscout cookies are my biggest weakness this time of year. When I received mine I immediately put them in the freezer downstairs to make that much harder for me. I plan on attacking them in mid-April when I finish a fitness challenge that I am doing with some friends. Last month I was down 6.5 pounds. (Kristi hates me for that)

Went to Y with Zachary this morning.

4.23 miles 32:56 running
30:00 weight training
25:00 running around the court with Zachary and a couple of tennis and basketballs.

Oh my...I don't post for a little bit...I come back and we are talking about girl scout cookies!!! MY FAVORITE!!! I actually just ordered some from some of the kids at school...can't wait to get them!

Just got back from 3 mile run...finished in 31:28. I will also be playing yet another hockey game tonight...so that will be another 1.5 hours of XT....I am finally getting back on track here!

Did someone say 'spring'....I can't wait for spring...I am so sick of the winter, I want warm weather!!

Keep up the good work!

Angie - I think your plan of Great Bay then Minnie is totally do-able. I WISH I could do the same thing! But Minnie is not in the plans this time around. :sad1: Just get those pesky blisters healed up!

I am playing hooky today, but will make it up on my rest day tomorrow. I got up at 3am for work and just now got home. I am beat! But I will tackle the TM with incline again tomorrow. Watch out! :rotfl:

Good morning Super Goofs. Well this is the end of another week for us. I managed 65 minutes on the elliptical yesterday and went 10.4 miles so I am back on the road to recovery. 7 miles today and I will fulfill my 20 mile commitment. Here's hoping it will get done.

On a sad note, we have had a player drop from our team. Stacey (Westcliffemom) has had a major LTO moment and has felt the need to leave us. She is also our co-captain so I will be taking volunteers for that position again also. I hope that Stacey continues to post on the DIS and even comes to visit us once in awhile. Best of luck in the future Stacey, we will miss you!!!!

What's a LTO? What do you need as co captain? Sorry to hear about Stacey. Hopefully she will support us in spirit.
Boy, you are up early!
More snow today. Off to work but I am planning on a workout when I get home.
Have fun today!
Joanne

Life takes over LTO. Co-captain just has to fill in for me when I am not around like vacation or some horrific TM accident LOL. I would give plenty of warning trust me. I also have to let them know so they can invite to join the spreadsheet so you can post the miles/hours in my absence if it is a time when the week ends. :surfweb:

Got in my 3 miles yesterday in 29 minutes. Skipped the weights, though. Not enough sleep the night before and husband on 2 wk business trip to Korea/Germany so didn't really have time. First time I've strayed off my training path in the 7 weeks I've been doing it--oh well. On the plus side, I got a nice AP rate to stay at AKL when I do the Minnie. Never stayed there before, but have eaten there. Should be fun.

Maura

Maura: I have stayed at AKL and give it huge :thumbsup2 . We had a savannah room and it was worth every penny. Each morning, coffee on the deck watching the animals, so peaceful and serene. Almost like you were not in the Disney bubble. The pool is awesome too. My DS was 3 and the zero entry was great for him. He could just wade in as far as he wanted. LOVE AKL!!!!

Sorry guys, I am feeling awful today so no exercise. I just hope it is not the flu.

Cecilia

Cecilia: :wizard: and  and you with company again for the weekend...more  Get better soon!!!!!

Just wanted to pop in to say HI!

Sorry to hear about Stacey!

Cecilia---Hope you feel better soon!

Keep cranking out those miles and minutes you guys!

Stacie

Cecilia--I hope you are feeling better soon....take care of yourself!

Probably won't get any running in today...big snow storm here in NJ....no venturing out on the roads for me.
