sunscreen suggestions for parks

You probably used a sunscreen with the chemical avobenzone in it. Our well water has iron in it and when I used sunscreen with avobenzone in it, it turned all of our white clothes orange. I googled it (when this happened) and found that it's a reaction between the iron and the avobenzone that causes the stains. We use Coppertone water babies in the Pure and Simple formula. It does not contain avobenzone and we never have stains anymore.

Is Coola really worth the price?? $36 for one tube of sunscreen is a lot!

I have used Neutrogena for years, but I'm looking for something better for my face. The regular sunscreens look horrible with makeup.
If you want to do in depth research, Asian sunscreens are amazing for faces, they're way ahead of the game than we are because they wear sunscreen daily. They go for about $13 on Amazon for a small tube. I use Skin Aqua, but Biore is also a popular brand.

It is worth it for me, because I no longer have to worry about having horrible breakouts when I wear sunscreen. I might not pay that much if I had had success with other brands.
For what it's worth, I don't wear makeup so I cannot speak to how Coola works with makeup.

I use Neutrogena SPF 50 for my face/neck/ears, and Target brand SPF 50 spray for everything else (if you wear sandals, don't forget the tops of your feet)

The kids always use the Coppertone Water Babies and we've never had an issue with it staining.

I did find however that it removed nail polish.

I just use a foundation primer that has SPF in it. It's not very high but I've never had an issue with my face burning.

It's worth it to me, since it's the only thing I've found that doesn't break me out. It does hurt the wallet but I buy Sephora gift cards on Raise at a discount, and I'm in their VIB program so I get 10 - 15% off coupons now and then. I've found a new suncreen by Tarte that works for my face, but I only use that when I'm not wearing makeup. With makeup I use either a tinted moisturizer with SPF or Bare Minerals with SPF.

I'm very sensitive to sunscreen and I've tried about a million kinds to find something that doesn't break me out. I finally found Coola. They make lotion and spray - I use the spray. They have unscented but the scented one is nice and doesn't bother my skin. It dries pretty much instantly and doesn't stain anything and last a long time. My DD who also has sensitive skin can use it, she can also use Blue Lizard, it just takes so long to rub in, I like how quick and easy it is to use the spray. The only bad thing is it's about $30 a can :( but I've tried all the drugstore brands and other pricey brands and I get rashes and even feel light headed and sick to my stomach.
I also have severe allergies and break out and also get headaches & sinus issues from sunscreen. Even get hives. I am already panicking - trip is early June- and thinking I might just start trying some on day outings to see what I can tolerate. I usually use CVS baby & have had good luck, but it is so thick and smears on everything.

We've used Wal Mart Equate Sport for years and have never had an issue with stained clothes.

I recommend reading up on the lack of regulations our government has on sunscreen products at EWG.com. They also rate the different brands every year (formulas change.) Even if you don't buy $36 bottles of sunscreen you can know what you don't want, chemical wise, in your products.

We have to be careful with sunblock/sunscreen because our kids have such sensitive skin. Neutrogena baby gave DD a chemical burn -- no idea why and even the dermatologist was surprised when we all finally figure it out. Blue Lizard is great but makes DS break out (sigh). So we use Vanicream sunblock and that works well and is long lasting. My kids can also do well with up & up sport sunscreen spray but it doesn't last as long and is not as effective for my pasty white DS. I also use colorescience sunforgettable for hairlines, parts, and ears and touchups throughout the day (it's a mineral powder that comes in a brush applicator -- great for squirmy kids). Someone on the DLR board recommended it and been in love with it ever since. As I don't use it for the whole body, one tube (while expensive) lasts a long time. Word of warning on that is if you get translucent, it shows up on dark hair if using it on your part and anything with a flesh tone to it will appear on white clothes so just be careful when and where you put it or the color you get!

I always liked Alba Botanica Hawaiian Sunscreen. Then I read an article about it being a sham because it doesn't block enough harmful rays. So I purchased Coppertone Waterbabies Foam last time we went to Disney. We ended up with chemical burns. We'll be going back to the Alba formula this year.

That was Jessica Alba's "Honest" brand sun screen, not "Alba" sunscreen. I use Alba sunscreen for my arms and legs and I like it, too. So I chuckled when that story came out because I thought it was ironic.

The Neutrogena facial moisturizer with SPF (found in the makeup section, not the sunscreen section) goes on really well under makeup.

Neutrogena for face. Target brand spray for arms and legs.

"Asian" sunscreens? Never heard of a continent making sunscreen. Who are 'they'?

I work for a derm office and we always recommend our patients use at least an SPF 30. As far as a brand goes that is at your preference but most importantly to note is that it contains the ingredient of zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Apply at least 30 minutes before sun exposure and remember to keep reapplying throughout the day :)

I use this on a daily basis and love it. I use something stronger when I'm in the sun for long periods like at WDW.

I used to break out in a rash when I used the early types of sunscreen.
After a couple of bad episodes I discovered that I'm allergic to PABA.
Fortunately other ingredients have replaced PABA in most sunscreens.

Another Neutragena fan here. I am fair and am on medication that makes me susceptible to sunburn but it works really well for me
