sunscreen suggestions for parks

You probably used a sunscreen with the chemical avobenzone in it. Our well water has iron in it and when I used sunscreen with avobenzone in it, it turned all of our white clothes orange. I googled it (when this happened) and found that it's a reaction between the iron and the avobenzone that causes the stains. We use Coppertone water babies in the Pure and Simple formula. It does not contain avobenzone and we never have stains anymore.

That is a good description of what happens to the clothes maybe orange not brown and happens when we wash the clothes. Avobenzone. Awesome.

I work for a derm office and we always recommend our patients use at least an SPF 30. As far as a brand goes that is at your preference but most importantly to note is that it contains the ingredient of zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Apply at least 30 minutes before sun exposure and remember to keep reapplying throughout the day :)
DD is on Tazorac so she burns fast.

Oh my, maybe she should wear a big brimmed hat, reapply SPF a lot .... Did you ask her Dr about taking a break from it or what they recommend for your trip? I have used Tazorac and it was wonderful for my acne. But it really does make the skin so much more sensitive.

Skin cancer survivor here - I use Neutrogena, usually a chemical block for the first application, then the physical block for later on. Every two hours seems to work the best for me. The eczema on my neck gets irritated by just about every type of sunscreen I've ever used, but neutrogena sensitive skin is the least irritating. I used to use Blue Lizard, and Bull Frog when I worked at a summer camp. Much longer coverage.

I'm a big fan of sun bum. I have loved all of their products I've tried.

I also really like coola brand makeup setting spray.

And I've recently gotten into Asian sunscreen. The one I'm using now is missha. They have great options with a high spf but aren't greasy. Some are sweat proof. They seriously don't feel like you have sunscreen on, or make your face white like other physical options sometimes do.

I second the Korean and Japanese sunscreens. I order from testerkorea.com. I have used Anissa and also a few others. They don't feel heavy or greasy.

I have sensitive skin and I now have converted to only using Supergoop products. Their "everyday" sunscreen wears great under makeup, is moisturizing, and doesn't disrupt my skin. I use the body butter with SPF every day. Worth the $$.

Any suggestions for sunscreen? Last visit the Coppertone we used caused every white shirt to turn brown anywhere the sun screen touched. Thanks

Ah yes, I had this problem as well. Where did you wash your clothes? The problem for me wasn't so much the sunscreen itself but there was some compound in the sunscreen that, when combined with the highly mineralized water I had at home, turned bright orange wherever the sunscreen touched my clothes. I finally discovered Hawaiian Tropic would not react that way with the water but the kind that works best for you may just depend on the water you have.

We love Hawaiian Tropic (the sheer touch and silk hydration varieties are my favorite) . It works great, doesn't bother our skin, doesn't feel sticky or greasy, and smells wonderful. They also have a face lotion that works great.

I'm EXTREMELY fair skinned and my absolute favourite is Neutrogena spray on. I usually use the ultra sheer but I think at disney we used the Sport version.

Exactly what happens.

My son and I also have sensitive skin and I burn very easily. I have found that most brands, as long as it is specifically for babies, it does not irritate our skin. Some of the kids or adult sunscreen, we could feel it almost burning our faces, it was terrible. The Target brand seems to do this, no matter if it's marked for babies or not. We have been sticking lately with the Walmart brand, Equate for babies, and it works great for us. I use the lotion in the mornings and when we are by the pool and bring a spray into the parks with me. We usually go through, 2 big bottles and 2 spray cans for a 10-14 night trip.

My mom brought me SPF 70 (or 75), just so I only have to apply every 30 minutes rather than every 15 minutes. I'm a Merida, we don't work too well in the Florida sun.

This doesn't make any sense. Sunscreen does nor work this way. Increasing the SPF does not increase the time it takes for the sunscreen to become less effective, and applying it this frequently makes it less effective as the protection relies on being fully absorbed in the skin which takes around half an hour.

Studies have proven that SPF over 50 or 55 may not be any more effective than SPF 55, just FYI.

Last summer I used some cheap no name brand of aerosol sun screen I bought at our local flea market. It worked fine, I didn't burn a bit, but it stank . .. . badly . . .. worse than the skunk in Imagination lol. This year we are trying coppertone sport. Hopefully we won't have any discoloring of the clothing.

Yes this!! Love love love Hawaiian Tropic...never sticky or greasy and dosnt make your face sweat..dosnt even hurt if the kids get it in their eyes by accident and lasts long, we live itn Texas were we get brutal summers and I always trust this for me and the kids.

"Asian" sunscreens? Never heard of a continent making sunscreen. Who are 'they'?
Oh come on, quit being pedantic.

Korea and Japan value geisha like faces while the Americas are still on the cancer causing tanning bandwagon. Their brands of sunscreens are better than ours.
