SunPass Questions

I am thinking about one of the sun pass transponders for an up coming trip. I know it will cost $50 up front, but does anyone know how long the $25 credit last?

I do not live in FL so I am not sure if it is worth it. I know I can get one with the rental car, but I am not sure which would be better any suggests?

It depends on where you are using it and how often. We bought it not because it's worth it financially, but because it saves time and hassle - no making sure we have exact change, waiting in toll booth lines. On my last trip I just went back and forth to the airport and made an exit to go to the grocery store and I used $5.75 on my account. We take 417 and the tolls are about $3 each way.

I think if you get 2 trips' use out of the transponder, I think it's a better deal to get your own instead of renting one through the car rental agency. (unless they are both very short trips)

We drive our own car when we go. There was a special SunPass that was like $4.99. That is what we got. It stays attached to our car at all times. We had to put a set amount on our account to open it. Any time we dip below $10, it just takes enough out of our attached checking account to raise it back up to $10. It works great, but again, it is on our personal vehicle.

I think the $4.99 is a permanent sticker. While you could get it for a rental car, the $$ left on when you turned in the rental car cannot easily be returned to you and you can't transer the sticker to another car. Be bought the $20 one a couple years ago and love it. Tolls to/fom WDW are about $3 each way, but we go a couple times a year.. And we have friends that live on the coast. Last trip, 3 times back and forth to the ariport - 2 trips to the coast - and went through about $30, I think. Really great to not even have to slow down for the tolls.
