Sun City/Phoenix AZ folks? Need restaurant gift card suggestions!

Need a holiday gift (card or certificate) for a couple of snowbird relatives. Any recommendations for somewhere good, but not too fancy, as that's not their thing? Know I could easily get something for a national chain-type place, but would love suggestions for more independent places or even a small local chain...thanks!!!

I live near Sun City and there are a lot of chain restaurants. One that is not chain (I think) is Arribas Mexican grill, it is really good Mexican food. There are a lot of little diners that are popular with the Sun City crowd but they look so tiny that I doubt they have gift cards. Maybe send a visa card so they could use at those places?

You guys are the best - many thanks! That's exactly the type of recommendation I was hoping for - it seems to be a 14-store AZ chain and sounds yummy. Easy online order gift cards, too - perfect.

(I wanted to get them a couple of restaurant gift cards - so I also got one from Babbo Italian Eatery - found it online/a 6-store AZ chain with good reviews. Hope the recipients enjoy eating at both places - they REALLY love Italian food!)

There are a lot of little diners that are popular with the Sun City crowd but they look so tiny that I doubt they have gift cards.

I'd love to get a couple of these diner names, whenever you get a chance. I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for gift ideas for these folks (!) ...and *maybe* the diners would have a gift certificate option. (I've found that some smaller joints make you phone them for one, since they don't have websites or plastic gift cards, but happily offer a mailed paper certificate.) Thanks a bunch!

I agree with Oregano's. Good food and casual place. I also highly recommend a restaurant called Tagliani, especially since you say they like Italian food. There are two locations, one in Glendale and the other in Peoria. The Peoria location is very close to Sun City. I think, anyway. We're fairly new to the Phoenix area and are still figuring out the difference between Sun City, Sun City West, and Sun City Grand! My husband and I love Tagliani's and enjoy taking out of town guests there. The food is very good and it is not a fancy place. I'm sure they have a website with a menu that you can view. And now, I want to go out to Tagliani's for dinner tonight.
