Summer Vacation: Where Are You Going?

I don't know yet. Probably won't be in the summer as I just returned to work from maternity leave.

We are renting a beach house in Denmark for a week in August

I have family in Germany and my Aunt used to go to Denmark every year, she loved it; I've always wanted to go.

We went to WDW in May, but we are going to Vancouver Island for a week to deliver my DSS to his mother's place, and spending two nights in the Okanagan on the way home. We may go to Jasper, in the mountains, later in the summer for a long weekend.

This month Philly and Hershey. Next month Wash DC for a few days.

Next week we're off to NYC for 4/5 days. Its DD's first trip.

Next month will be two weeks in Hawai'i. I'm going for work but staying a few extra days. DBF will be having fun all day while I work. But hey, I'll be working in Hawai'i. It could be worse.

We also go to Deep Creek every couple of weekends and will probably head to DC and Balti for day trips. I'd like to squeeze in a long weekend to the beach sometime.

If you're at all interested in doing a short lobster boat tour, I've included a few pics. My nephew is working this summer on a boat that leaves from the Nonantum Resort on Ocean Ave. in Kennebunkport.

Hey, luvflorida! Yes, we will be in your neighborhood. We usually vacation in Ogunquit every September and take a lovely cruise from Perkins Cove to Nubble Lighthouse and back. I am thrilled to hear there is one from the Nonantum. Thanks! I will look for your nephew. Our favorite restaurant in your area (in fact the only one I have been to in Kennebunkport) is the 'Hurricane'. Can you suggest any others, for breakfast or dinner? Thanks!

A few days in Washington DC in July and a week at the beach in Long Beach Island, NJ with friends in August...

DS is going to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for two weeks backpacking and my DDs are in Hilton Head right now with their grandparents.

We're going camping in Cape May, NJ over the 4th. I can't wait.

DD and I will invade my cousin's house in Westport, MA for a long weekend at the beach. She is such a good person to tolerate us every year. They have no kids so its a good thing that my DD is so easy going and quiet.

Then we have the big DCL right after Thanksgiving. We can't wait!!

At the beginning of this month we went to Blowing Rock, NC for 3 days.

In the beginning of July we're going to Atlantic Beach for 3 days.

In the end of July we're going to Niagara Falls on our motorcycle with stops in Tennessee, Virginia, PA and more. This trip is a week and a half.

In September we're going to WDW for a week.

We're trying to plan our "big" trip for next year. We have it narrowed down to Japan, Switzerland, or a Transatlantic cruise.

I'll spend my summer out of work unless I find a new job. So I won't be going anywhere.

Nowhere. We are in the process of firing all of our creditors due to DD starting college in the next three years...

I might buy cheap tickets to an Astros game but that will about cover it...

Our friends gave us a week at their time share. I had to pick 3 spots and picked Lake George, Atlantic City and Outer Banks. Havent heard back yet which one we got. Just have to worry about gas, food and local activities.

I am also planning some local budget weekly day trips for the kids

Ugh. Nowhere.

We have 2 WDW trips coming up in the fall, plus we're talking about going to Europe next year. The only way I'll have 2 weeks of vacation available next year is to roll a week over from this year (we accrue our days). That means I'll use my 2 personal days in October and one of my weeks in December and that's all she wrote!

We are taking some weekend trips with friends to their lake houses, so that will be nice.

Jackson Hole & Cody, Wyoming and then Yellowstone Park and Mammoth Hot Springs.

We are taking several small vacations this summer which include Kings Island in Ohio next weekend, Gatlinburg, TN, Hilton Head, and Disney of course. I won't be able to travel at all once August comes so I figure I better get traveling out of my system before then.

The boat is the Rugosa. It's the only one that leaves from the Nonantum. Well, the only lobster boat. They also have sailing tours and kayak rentals. My nephew, Christian, does the narration and the traps and lobster demonstration.

Just a few doors down from Hurricane's in Dock Square is Alisson's restaurant. It's one of our favorite places for lunch or dinner. It's a bit more casual than Hurricane's, but the food is very good! Federal Jack's (over the bridge and on the left heading out of Dock Square) is also one of our favorites. There is an outdoor dining area that looks out on the harbor. The Landing Restaurant has nice views and very good food, also.

If you like seafood, you have to try the Clam Shack. It's basically a small take-out stand right beside the bridge. There are a few benches nearby, but many people enjoy standing on the bridge and leaning on the railing while enjoying their food. The seafood is EXCELLENT!!!! It's even a favorite of George and Barbara Bush.

We don't usually eat breakfast out, so I can't help with that. I think Hurricane's has a Sunday Brunch.

If I can help with anything else, just let me know! Kennebunkport is a quaint, little coastal town, and Goose Rocks Beach and Cape Porpoise are also beautiful!

But - we are going on a day tour that ends up in Kennebunkport, but we'll only have 2 hours. How far is the beach from the town? I believe there are trollies?

We can't wait. Thanks luvflorida for your input on my Boston vacation help thread. I think the Clam Shack sounds like what we're looking for too!

I was feeling pretty good when I saw the flights we got for Denver to Boston went up from the $236 RT we paid to way over $300 - yikes!

Most likely no where, but I'm hoping I can save up enough money to go to the beach in early August. I'm not working this summer, though, so it's very tight financially.
