Summer Vacation: Where Are You Going?

Disneyland for two days then to the California desert, then I think my grandma is planning a trip "up North' to Hearst Castle and I am going to go with her.

We just got back from WDW and Daytona Beach...

I am taking another vacation in July before the kids go back to school, but don't know if the funds will be there for any vacation yet, so nothing is planned.

We do have hopes to hit Helen, Ga and WDW again in October, but haven't told the kids in case it doesn't pan out to go back to WDW for a long weekend...

No vacations for us this year.

But I plan on taking the kids to the beach twice a week (at least) & to my parents/sisters pools. They also have their waterslide (to wash the sand off of them after the beach).

We are planning on visiting Roger Williams Zoo in RI one day too (day trip).

And we have been promising the kids Dinosaur State Park for the past 2 years so this year we are going. But that is also a day trip.

I am OK with that as I want a longer Disney vacation in 2012.

next week Im going to texas for hubbys 4 day pass prior to leaving for Iraq-my sons are meeting me in austin and we picking up Dad at Ft Hood and heading to San Antonio for the week.
Week of 4th of July ill be going home ( Cody, Wyoming) to see family-and in Nov im taking a long weekend to go to the NASCAR race in pheonix. Other than that im banking leave days and $$ so hubby and i can go on a two week European Cruise at the end of deployment.

Jackson Hole & Cody, Wyoming and then Yellowstone Park and Mammoth Hot Springs.

Can't wait to see that area of the USA!

We just came back from a week at Yellowstone National Park. Two days at Mammoth Hot Springs and 3 at Lake Yellowstone. For the last 2 years we've gone to Jackson Hole and the Grand Tetons. Since we live near the Gulf Coast and have a terrible hurricane history, our summer vacation has to be in June, before the major part of hurricane season. We're spending a few days in Annapolis with a friend and going into Washington, DC, then going to PA to Hershey and Knoebels. We're also volunteering 2 weeks at summer camp. It's hard work, but they feed us, and I get to spend time in a beautiful place with great kids. Oh, and it's on a lake, which is a perk, too.

Next year it's Walt Disney World. 2012 is our 10 year wedding anniversary. I hope to go out west to see the Pacific Ocean, and Disneyland!

In 10 days we are leaving for a 9 nine day Royal Caribbean cruise. I can't wait.

We're just back from WDW and Universal. If we do anything else, it'll be close by like San Antonio even though somewhere cool sounds real appealing right now.

For sure, we're doing our usual trip to Alex Bay in the Thousand Islands. My MIL has a home there. That's in August.

I will end up having a three day weekend for the 4th this year, so we're trying to decide if we want to go somewhere or stay home.

Ive been stuck in FL for almost 6 months now without a license
get my license back July 15th and then watch out! I'll be at WDW, SeaWorld, and might need to get a ticket for Universal!

I just cancelled the "surprise" birthday Disney trip I had planned for July 29-August 3rd for DD's 9th bday yesterday My mom has metastatic breast cancer and is just not doing well at all... I can't risk taking a trip like that and having something happen while we're there Thankfully it WAS a surprise, so my girls know nothing about it...

We're going to do 3 nights/4 days on Cape Cod in July (very close to home) and a few nights in North Conway, NH in August (again, close to home)....

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I'll keep her and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the doctors are able to keep her comfortable.
It's good that you can do a couple of mini get aways this summer.

My mom and I are taking the kids across Lake Mi on the car ferry from WI to MI, then heading up to Mackinaw City/Island, crossing the bridge and heading back to WI thru the UP of MI.

Part of a week at my mom's cottage.

Gymnastics camp with my DD (I am the nurse for the week)

Weekend at MOA with shopping at the AG store and back to school clothes.

Other than that DD is in the gym 4 days a week.

We'll be in St Augustine, Fl for the 4th of July fireworks blowout they have every year!

They close down the bayfront street and shoot off the fireworks from the old fort area out over the bay--thousands of people come and hang out in the street in their lawn chairs for hours and hours, picnicking and chatting, waiting for the fireworks. All the restaurants along the bayfront cookout and sell food from the sidewalk!

The fireworks last longer than any fireworks show I've ever seen, including Disney!

We are staying at a gorgeous 4 star bayfront hotel that we got for a steal about a month ago, before the prices started going crazy (they are completely sold out now).

I'm going back to school to take a couple of classes to become a high school history teacher (elementary teacher now). I consider this a "vacation" because I will be moving 4 hours away from my Dfiance and my town.

Maybe not a fun vacation, but it's a vacation all right.
