As we approach the "official" start of the summer season, what's on your summer reading list?

I want to read the Da Vinci Code, but there are so many requests on it at the library, I won't be reading it until NEXT summer! LOL!

I'm reading "Angels and Demons" right now. "The Da Vinci Code" is sitting on my table, next in line. After that, who knows. :D

I just started re-reading the Harry Potter series. It's been quite some time - and as most Harry readers know, you really can't ever get enough.;)

Hi! Well I just finished our book group selection for May.. it was Lost in Translation.. does not have ANYTHING to do with the movie.. very, very good read.
For June's book group we are reading non fiction.. Nickled and Dimed in America.
I am planning to read the last of the Left Behind series and The 5 people you meet in Heaven this summer.

Harry Potter fans have you read the book "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini ???
DD has read it and says it was good. So that the book that 1st in line for me.

I just finished "Bergdorf Blondes" and "The Devil Wears Prada", obviously both lighthearted beach books.

I'm open to suggestions :) I devour books.

The Stand. I bought it a while ago, but I have to wait until summer to read it, or else I would never go to bed!

I'm reading the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. Great books!

Elise

At night, I'll be reading "Hitchhiker" a biography of Douglas Adams - just started it a couple nights ago. Makes me a little sad, though. He was taken from us WAY too soon. :(

During lunchtimes ("time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so."), I'll be reading "Seamanship in the Age of Sail". Must get my head wrapped 'round all this square-rigged ship stuff before I set out in earnest to become Lady Washington crew. Much to learn... ::yes::

Evil Princess, if you like light books, you might try the one I just finished, its called "Can You Keep A Secret?". Its by Sophie Kinsella, the same author who wrote the Shopoholic books (Confessions of a Shopoholic, Shopoholic Takes Manhattan, Shopoholic Ties the Knot -- all very similar in style to The Devil Wears Prada......).

The Mystery Machine, someone else just recommended Eragon to me. Hmmmmm, might have to check that out tonight, I'm actually headed to the bookstore. :)

Nickel and Dimed is amazing!!!!!!! I loved it! It really made me think!

evil princess - I just read "the devil wears prada" too - great book!

I also recently finished "sushi for beginners" by Marian Keyes - I enjoy most of her books. (Angles, Lucy SUllivan is getting married)

I want to read "can you keep a secret" next. :)

I read the first Shopaholic book in college this year thinking I'd like it and I HATED it! It's a shame too, cause I usually like those lighthearted books that deal with shopping and name dropping. I just found it to be a boring read, I HATED the main character. Way too stupid and out of touch with reality for me :(

If Can You Keep a Secret has a different main character I might like it though. I just hated that Rebecca girl, yuck. :)

I'm up to book six of the Left Behind series, so I will probably spend the summer finishing the next six. Althought I am a fast reader and I may be done with those by July!.................P

Started "The DaVinci Code" but library only has a 14 day loan for new books, and I had to return it before I was done.:(

Now reading "The Lovely Bones" by Ann Sebold. Weird, and a bit disturbing, but very well written.

Finished "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris. Hilarious.

Also read "A Country Doctor's Casebook" by someone named MacDonald. A gift from a collegue, about a general practioner in solo practice in the northwoods of Minnesota.

On my list for the summer:
The Nanny Diaries
I Don't Know How She Does It-my sister lent both of these to me
The Secret Life of Bees
Life of Pi
PC, M.D. - about how political correctness is ruining modern medicine
The DaVinci Code (if I can get it again from the library)
