Just got off the phone with DCL. He told me that the release date for the 7-day summer 2005 cruises won't be until late spring or early summer. Anyone hear anything else? Can't stand the waiting!

May 5th was the latest I heard about an announcement for Summer 2005 sailing dates for the Magic.

May 5 is the date for the press event to announce the plans for Disneyland's 50 anniversary (unless they change the press event's date again). So, if those plans include West Coast cruises by the Disney Magic in summer 2005, we should know on May 5

I tend to distrust most rumors until I hear an official confirmation. But, in this case, I think there's a good chance that the rumor will be substantiated on May 5.

On the other hand, if the Disney Magic will stay in Florida after all in summer 2005, then there's no reason to expect the itineraries to be announced on May 5. Instead, the announcemnt could come sooner or later than that date.

How do I book again on the cruise (April 2th 7-night western) if the dates are not released?

Do you think Disney will give the room credit after we are off the ship?

Thanks

We booked our next cruise for 2005 in November 2003. Even though the dates are not released yet, they will book a cruise for you in the future and them you can move your reservation as soon as the dates you want open up.

disney will NOt be doing 7 days out of port canaveral after mid may .. I tried to book for june 05 for our anniversary and they would not said they were sorry they would try to accomodate me on any repositiong cruises etc.. but... so I am waiting to see I am hoping to take the repo cruise to save on air if it leaves after 20th when school is out here.... But they told me same thing could not gaurentee anything and that is to much of a gamble for me so we are scrambling to see about another cruise line for our anniversary... I am on a call ist so maybe they will call and let me know soon but I am not holdong my breathe.
I waasvery specific that I wanted it to leave out of port canveral cause i live there and we wanted to save airfare and get a suite.. that was when she point blank said no more 7 day out of port canveral after mid may....

I'm trying to plan my honeymoon for July 2005, which we would like to include a Disney cruise. I'd like the 7-day cruise. I'd read that Disney was looking at options for the Magic for the summer, but wanted clarification. I have a bit of an edge, seeing as I'm a travel agent.

I called one of my vendors who in turn called their Disney contact, who confirmed what I had seen posted from an Orlando Sentinel article: They don't know yet what they're doing for June/July/August. The last available booking dates are in May, and then start up again in September. They might continue with the itinerary as it is, move the Magic to California for the summer to coincide with Disneyland's 50th, or alter the itineraries for the summer to make it more interesting for repeat cruisers.

So until they announce it, there's really no way to know. I'm hopeful they don't head to California.

I'm hoping (no rumor here, just hoping) that they'll experiment w/10-day cruises for the summer, for those who aren't able to vacation in December. That would be wonderful.::yes::

What that means is at this time they are not booking 7 day out of PC after mid may. That doesn't mean necessarily that they WON'T be doing 7 days out of PC after mid may.... (you said they are not going to be doing 7 days out of PC after mid may... as if that's fact- we don't know that yet...) it just means they aren't committing to it right now.. they might have other things in the works.... there are rumors about them doing other things instead... and you can't book for something they may not be doing. That's all that means.

We're dong the the 7 Western from May 7-14 next year, but I wanted something later to no avail. 7 day cruises in CA would be easier for us because of our location, but I think the destination of the cruises makes the trip.

Even if the Disney Magic is relocated to Southern California, that does not necessarily mean a 7-night itinerary. It would seem more likely that the Disney Magic would operate 3- and 4-night cruises, with 1-week Disneyland land/sea vacation packages.

actually the lady on wonder who books the cruises said point blank to me they will not be doing 7 days out of PC after mid may only 3 & 4 day...... I am not saying that is a fact I am just stating what she said to me....

Horace - Who know what they will do, but like I said, it would be nice to have the option of the cruise for the west coast people. DL isn't that big, so I could imagine spending more than 3 days there and guess the cruise would "cruise" down towards Mexico?

Here's some quotes from the Orlando Sentinel article:

"Disney officials said this week they are considering changing the Magic's itinerary for the summer of 2005, which could include different ports of call, shorter or longer cruises and even another homeport during the three-month period. "

"We're looking at all our options," said Mark Jaronski, spokesman for the Disney Cruise Line. "But leaving Port Canaveral permanently, that's not an option."

I am keen to book a DCL cruise for summer 2005, and for 7 days plus, Living in the UK our first brochures come out late April and for summer school holidays the flights go very fast.
You have to book early to get these.

A couple of years ago one popular UK agency advertised DCL 7 day cruises and I booked a Eastern carribean trip. Later on after checking the DCL site, I informed them it had changed to a Western cruise and they had to write to there customers.

DCL is a very good holiday the best I have ever had, but delaying annoucements basically stops UK customers going, particularly the season in questiion coinsides with our summer school holidays.

I bet all of our brouchures coming out in April will now be either wrong or say they cannot book during this time.

I personally would prefer a 10 day cruise in the Carribean on the same lines as the Christmas cruise. I understand all of the reasons for going to Califorinia but I think an equal option is extending to say Jamacia, St Lucia,

You could fit exactly 12 10 day cruises in the time gap on 7 day cruises, the only issue is the Magic and Wonder would be in port 3/4 times together.

So an option could be some 10 & 11 day cruise to avoid this.

Looking at all the Websites the thing is for DCL to annouce as sson as possible what it is doing, opennig up the first and last part of 2005 makes everyone question what is happening? delaying options, and having the adverse effect on booking.

I wolud love to book also now as the £ ( dare i say on this site) is getting a lot stroner against the dollar so making the cost to us in the UK a lot cheaper now.

I do not personally thing this will ast past November elections.

Go one disney make your mind up and annouce now. Otherwise they are cutting out UK guests.

I still feel moving away to Califorinia will effect support jobs in Port Canaveral, Staff at port Cruise buses etc, and is a risk, they know the amount of booking from WDW it isnt guranteed at Disneyland.

Also you have ot get the ship through the Panama Cannel and discussion says it will be tight!

I call Disney daily or even every other day checking to see if they released any of the 7 day cruises for the summer of 2005.. I have never been told that they are not having 7 days out of PC.. all i am ever told is that keep checking back....
the next time i call i will ask if they are not doing 7 days out of PC and see what i am told
Praying for a summer 2005 cruise out of PC..
what is a Disney cruise without CC and that beutiful Terminal...

yep It is a big one for us also as we got hooked on disney and really want to do our anniversary in june 05 ith them we need it to be out of PC or another port near us though as we just cannot justify the cost /againtsother cruises that go out of port that are 7 days or longer unless it goes out of PC also then we can say well since we do not have to pay for airfare/parking... so I am still praying for a miracle....

As much as my kids would love to fly to CA, I am really hoping that it stays put and offers different itineraries out of PC. I am also hoping the announcement/decision will be before May so people can plan accordingly.

Being in the west, I would love for them to reposition for the summer 2005. It would up the attendance at California Adventure since that park is struggling with the land/sea. Of course, if they do reposition, we will be on the Magic. did the Panama Canal on RCCL last May, and would love to do it again!
And, the ship WILL FIT THROUGH! We could touch the canal walls in the locks on either side of the Radiance. They were within a foot on either side. It was pretty amazing.

So, we are patiently waiting--want to see a temporary move to the West Coast. In the meantime, we will just keep waiting for our 2004 10-day Disney Christmas Cruise!
