Suggestions on where to pool hop?

Normally, we never pool hop - too much trouble. Our 2 girls, both under 4, don't care where they swim as long as there's water. They usually stay at the kiddie pools. Many a time, due to the weather or just because of the convenience for us, we take them "swimming" in the jacuzzi back at the room!

We're staying in a GV at OKW (& maybe an additional studio or two) this December with extended family. There will potentially be 6 little kids under the age of 5. The pools at OKW will probably be fine. But just in case, they want a little bit of variety, where do suggest we pool hop to? I know that SAB is out. Any other fun kiddie areas?

Depending on where our unit will be at OKW, we may very well drive to the pool anyway. But if it was all up to me... hmmm... I wonder how many kiddies will fit in the OKW jacuzzi? :p

We've only pool hopped three times while staying at BWV....

Port Orleans pool... It was nice, but being used to BWV, I would have rather stayed at home...

OKW... Pool was cool... Great laid back atmosphere.. It's cool that pretty much everyone else at the resort is a DVC member, whereas at BWV the big pool is shared with the Inn guests...

VWL pool.... Usually once during the trip, we will go to the Wilderness lodge.. Swim for the afternoon, and then go to Whispering Canyon for lunch... Awesome....

Our last trip we packed a little bag when we went to MK. We stuck it in a locker and toured the park until late morning. Then we grabbed our bag and took the monorail over to the Polynesian and pool hopped there. Very nice pool with the volcano theming and a nice slide. Also, the beach is right next to the pool.

Beach + Pool = Kids Happy!:)

The Polynesian is a great pool for little kids since has a a zero depth entry.

When we spent 8nights at PO/FQ Nov 02 we spent a few hours the day of MVMCP pool hopping to the Wilderness Lodge. Hey, it's our "home". We spent some time in the pool, went to the gift shop, saw the Christmas decorations and then we found friends of ours at the villas. I had a tour of the studio and 1 bedroom for our future vacations.

We like Boardwalk, Corenado Spring, Port Orleans and Wilderness Lodge pools. My boys are 9 and 11 so they are into walterslides. Our most favorite is now off limits at Yacht and Beach.

We change in the restrooms and then pput our sacks back into the lockers

WL has a nice pool. BW has a neat pool with a clown slide that the kids might like to see. They might be tto young to use it though, so maybe that's a no-no, when I stop to think about it. Why show them something they can't do?

you say 6 kids under 5 right?

then I would go to the Serpent pool (water dragon, whatever you call it) at POFQ - this is the hotel right next to OKW and little kids love it - my niece did not want to go to the parks she wanted to say there when she was little.

this is a very gentle and slow slide - parents were even allowed to accompany their kids down it - no other slide at WDW does that.

Now you will be bore - what excits little children does not necessary kept their parents entertained.

We went to the Polynesian back in December. They had a very nice changing/bathroom area right next to the pool. It smelled like cinnamon in there - very refreshing. DH had the boys, I was able to take a shower afterwards and actually take my time changing back. It was a treat.
The pool is zero depth, as stated. Might be nice for any of the little ones a bit apprehesive about jumping in.

Another reason to love DVC!

I never even thought of the other resorts, kinda thought DVC members could only pool hop to other DVC resorts. The Poly is an awesome place to take a pool break on a MK day! I can't wait to try it!:Pinkbounc

I would assume you'd need to show your DVC membership ID?
Has that been your experience when hopping?

Thanks for all the replies with suggestions.

The Poly and POFQ sound interesting. The zero depth entry at the Poly sounds great. The proximity of POFQ as well as the kiddie slide is attractive.

Disney Doll,
My kids loved the kiddie pool at BWV. My then 3 yr. old DD insisted on going down the clown slide, even though I tried to talk her out of it for the longest time. The lifeguards said she could go on it even though she couldn't swim as long as she wore a life vest! She agreed to the life vest (which she hates to wear) and to climbing the stairs alone so that I could stay at the bottom to "catch" her. She didn't cry or scream but her face was white as a sheet when she got out of the pool. I asked her if it was scary. She just shook her head no and said that maybe she wouldn't go on any more slides THIS trip - maybe NEXT trip when she was bigger!

True to her word, she wouldn't even go down the baby slide at SAB when we stayed at BCV during the second part of our trip. She just watched her baby sister slide down with daddy. BTW, the lifeguards did let children go down this slide on the laps of their parents.

They, of course, LOVED SAB with the zero depth entry and all that sand! But I dreaded the hike from the Villas all the way over to the YC where the kiddie area was located.

We didn't like the pool at the Contemporary where we stayed on a subsequent trip. I couldn't believe there wasn't a kiddie pool - at least one we could find! The water was too deep for the little ones.

I have a feeling that the kiddies will be fine at OKW. As long as there'a a kiddie pool with water, I doubt they will complain.

I'm just covering my bases in case the relatives want some varied swim days instead of going to the parks.

Yes, you need to take your room key with Member on it. I took my membership card for good measure. The first CM at the Poly didn't understand the concept of pool hopping privileges. As usual, when one CM doesn't give you the correct answer, just keep trying. We found another one and had no problem.
