Want a fun restaraunt to take daughter to for a family celebration of her 9th birthday. Not a Chuck E. Cheese kind of place though, more upscale, or more fine food oriented desired. (Had a sleepover w/ her friends last night ... that was enough KID stuff for me for a while :faint: )

We're in southern California and probably have every chain restaraunt there is around! :teeth:

I've come up with TGI Fridays and Buco di Beppi (never been) but nothing else that would be festive w/ interaction from servers.

Any ideas??? Thanks! :confused3

The first thing that comes to mind is Rain Forrest Cafe.
I was not a fan of the food at Buca Di Beppo. It might just be me though.

Those were the two ideas I came up with before I read down your post. Not sure where in So cal you are, but Rainforest is always fun. Sweetpea also likes Joes Crab shack, Bubba Gump's, BJ's, Karuta, Mrs. Knotts Chicken dinner, and for some reason Hometown buffet (she is kinda odd about that).

I like Joes Crab shack and Bubba Gump myself.

Im going to rain forest today for a b-day party..I'll tell you what they do over here!

My kids were always entertained by Japanese cooking, regardless of the age. Do you have a Bennihana near you?

I also like Bubba Gump's. We go there everytime we are in Miami (we don't have one near us). Another one that I thought of is Hard Rock Cafe.

My vote is for RainForest Cafe or...

DD11 went to a Medieval Times b-day party 2 or 3 years ago & loved it.
She & her friends talked about it for week's afterwards.
It is more expensive than many other places though but is awesome!

Great suggestions everyone! Thank you so much!!!!

Do you have a Bugaboo Creek Steakhouse? My kids love the talking buffalo and the animals that move, and dh and I love the food- it's excellent!

Is there a Bobby McGee's anywhere near you??? (Assuming there are still more of them than the one in Brea, which is the only listing I can find on the internet :confused3 And assuming they are still the same as they were 6+ years ago!) The waitstaff dresses up like famous movie and cartoon characters and while it's definitely more adult/upscale it was always one of my favorites as a kid.

ooh-the other place I was thinking.....The Elephant Bar. Fun Safari type atmosphere, my niece loved going there about that age and they serve cutesy non alcoholic drinks in animal head cups and such, or at least they did a few years back. Gosh, you're makin' me miss CA!!!

another one...not sure where in Southern CA you are located but there still appears to be a Farrell's in Mira Mesa. A great traditional ice cream parlour with a good menu of other foods too.
