Suggestions for series books for 13 y.o. boy

Thanks for all the great suggestions!!!!! Starting a list for books we shall go in search of.

Some mentioned here I know he's read, such as the Rangers Apprentice - I think there were actually 3 books in that series and he has them.

Book 10 just came out 4-19. I know there are 2 more coming out after that.

Keep the ideas coming!!!!! :goodvibes

We go through a huge amount of books at our house!!!!!

I like for them to read at least as much (sometimes more) as the amount of time they spend on video games or TV. Fortunately both my kids love to read. DD is just getting into chapter books and is doing the Beverly Cleary (?sp) - Ramona series now.

My boys have really enjoyed the Cirque du Freak series. I believe there's 12 books. We do a family book club here and we just got done with the last book in the Hunger Games series. They loved those as well.

I echo a lot of PP on series and this one I will add too. Series of books here is the first - the title of the book is somehow referenced in the Harry Potter series. Unsure how, DD knew right away and said this series is awesome! I can't pull her away from it!
The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel

DS loves to read and will soon exhaust what we have on hand. Need suggestions. He has completed all the Star Wars series, all the Harry Potter, the classics like Moby Dick, Gullivars Travels, etc. and is currently close to finishing book II out of IV of the Kingdom Keepers series. He's read lots of various stuff in between. We do have the Lord of the Rings books, he tried those once but think at the time he was a little to young to stick with those.....maybe he should try those again.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I would try again. Also there is the Rangers Apprentice Series. Its fantasy genre a la LotR/Dungeons and Dragons

My DD14 is in that series. She read book 3 in a day.

DS won't touch these with a ten foot pole, but DD13 LOVES them has all of the Cirque books and most of the Demonata books. I swear, all she talked about last year in 6th was Darren Shan.

Just thought of these, but he still will read the Young Jedi books. He also reads a lot of the Star Wars books for adults.

The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel

Nicholas Flamel is a character in the first Harry Potter book. He invented the Sorcerer's Stone (Philosopher's Stone) that Voldemort wanted to get his hands on.

These are books that DS16 has been reading for years. Some since he was 13, others more recently. I just know that these books are floating between him and DD13 for their reading pleasure.

VAMPIRATES by Justin Somper

The Last Apprentice by Joseph Delaney

Rangers Apprentice by John Flanagan

Last Dragon Chronicles by Chris D'Lacey

Dragon Heir, Wizard Heir, Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima (she has another series, but I can't think of their titles.)Stonehart Trilogy by Charlie Fletcher

Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

I know there are a couple others series that he has tried a book, but these are the ones that are my list of what he is reading and what the next book # is in the series that he needs.

Her other series has two books released so far. They are The Demon King and The Exiled Queen. She is an incredible author, DS16 and I love all of her books.

Another author (she is actually a DISer) is Heather Brewer and The Chronicles of Vladmir Todd. There were 5 books in that series and she is working on another.

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. There are currently 13 books in the series, and while they are categorized as Adult Fiction(Fantasy), some of them have been released in a Young Adult format as well. The story is the same, but I believe they've been broken up into smaller installments.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is pretty good as well. The stories are fantasy/sci fi with some humour thrown in.

There are about 10 books in the 39 Clues series now. Also, DSnearly 11 is reading The Puzzling World of Winston Breen by Eric Berlin (there's a sequel, too). It may be a bit simple for a 13 y/o, but it's fun. My son also likes the Chasing Vermeer series by Blue Bailliett (sp?). There are 3 of those. She also wrote a book about a boy with Asperger's, but I can't remember the title.

HTH,

What about The Narnia Series?

ANother vote for the Percy Jackson Series...as well as the follow on Lost Hereos of Olympus Series (only 1 book out so far).

The 39 clues books.

The Kane Chronicles -The Red Pyramid (Book 1) and Throne of Fire (Book 2 is out this week I think).

My DS12 has read all the books mentioned in this thread and loved them. I'll add the Mysterious Benedict Society series and the Young James Bond series. He also enjoyed the Gregor the Overlander series.

I haven't read all of the replies...but anything by Margaret Peterson Haddix. My DS16 LOVED the "Shadow Children" series (Among the Hidden, etc.). All of her books are really good though!
