Hi

We are arriving at DW on June 1 and staying for 6 nights at POR. :Pinkbounc We have never eaten at a table service restaurant at DW. This time we have the MYW dining plan. I have a few ideas on which restaurants we want to try but since we have 6 table service meals, I would like your suggestions. Also we have 6 day tickets but I'm not getting the park hoppers due to the cost and we are satisfied staying at one park each day. We will probably go to MK (2x), Epcot (2x), MGM, and Animal Kingdom. We are Dad, Mom, and DS16. We are not interested in the character meals. We will have a rental car. The restaurants I have in mind so far are: O'hana's, and Whispering Canyon. What others do you think are good and would be a good place to use the Dining Plan? Thanks for your help. :grouphug:

One of our favorite non-character places to eat is Prime Time 50's at MGM. We also like O'hana's at the Polynesian Resort.

Have Fun!!!

We're going in 3 weeks.
never done the sit downs before but our plan for 7 nights is:

Boma (to go to AKL, and maybe try some African food)
50's Prime Time (homeestyle menu, interesting drinks)
Sci-Fi (try the experience, good menu)
Ohana (the experience, appealing menu)
Teppanyaki (we like the entertainment value of these type places)
ESPN Club (because its on b'walk and has a $17 dessert)
Boatwrights (its in our resort & we want to see if they screw up Louisiana food)

These places either had interesting menus or atmosphere (or both)for our group (25 yo M, 25 yoF, 23yoM, 22 yo M, all Cajuns)

We are going in July and staying at POR too. We have the dining plan also.

We are doing 4 character meals because it's the kids first trip. The other 2 TS meals we are using at Spoodles on the Boardwalk and L'Originale Alfredo's Italy in Epcot.

Have fun planning your meals. It's been so much fun for me.

Crystal Palace @ MK
Tusker House @ AK

Cape May at the Beach Club resort

San Angel Inn (this is a love it or hate it place - we love it!)

Kona Cafe at the Polynesian

SciFi at MGM - your son will love it. Totally campy and cool!

Ohana and Whispering Canyon Cafe are two of our favorites! Definitely go hungry. How about Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner? At MGM, I would try the Sci-Fi or walk over to the Beach Club and go to Beaches and Cream or the Cape May Buffet. The Boardwalk is right there too, with the ESPN Club and Spoodles. You didn't mention Downtown Disney, our 14 year old LOVED Disney Quest, in Downtown Disney I would try Wolfgang Puck's. At Epcot, I would try for La Cellier, it was just changed to one table credit and is supposed to be great!

I would go to Ohana's and Whispering Canyon on the days you'll be going to the MK. Ohana's is just a monorail ride away and Whispering Canyon can be easily reached from the MK by boat.

Definetly go to the 50's Prime time Cafe when you go to MGM.

I would suggest the two days you go to Epcot one day eat at Canada at Le Cellier and the other day take a boat ride from the international gatway to the Boardwalk and go to Spoodles.

I would suggest that you drive to the AK and go to dinner at Boma at the AKL that day.

ITA with this advice! Those are my picks (though I also LOVE Kona Cafe at the Poly and it seems to be one of the best overall values on the dining plan). We'll be trying Ohana's for the first time in a few weeks.

How about CRT for dinner? Beautiful castle, no characters.

1900 Park Fare for dinner is a must for us this time.

If you have kids, Chef Mickey's and Chrystal Palace are very popular character meals.

O'hana for the atmosphere.

Spoodles on the boardwalk is also a good choice.

And I haven't even mentionned the Epcot restaurants yet.....

Le cellier
Marrakesh
Alfredo in Italy.

If you are within 90 days of your departure.....get on the phone and make those PS's as quickly as possible.

Since you aren't doing the park hopper make sure you plan the parks you visit around the extra magic hours. We were thrilled the night Animal Kingdom was open 3 hours late - we really got to do everything that we couldn't during the day. Same with magic kingdom, it was busy the first hour, than it was easy getting on stuff. Not sure how much the early ones help, but the extra 3 pm hours were awesome!

As far as meals - we loved Grand Floridian Cafe (Magic Kingdom day) and the Concourse Steakhouse (another Magic Kingdom one). Also the 2 Steakhouses at Yachtsman's are good. We did the Yacht Club Galley and the food was excellent.

Don't remember where you are staying but Shutters at Carribean Beach Resort was very good too.

Like someone else said 50s Prime Time Diner at MGM was a must do imo.

Tusker house is actually counter service.

Boma, 50's Prime Time and Le Cellier are ones I'd have on my list. :flower:

Happy eating!

Thanks for all the replies! :) Billsfan your plan sounds really good. Since I'm new I'm having trouble knowing which restaurants with what park. Those are some of the ones I had thought about. Keep those suggestions coming! :)
