It's a manager's choice deal. You get whatever class they have the most of. During a busy time, I would expect a subcompact, large truck, 15 passenger van or an electric. During slow times, it's going to be whatever they want to rotate through.
I thought that Alamo did not have battery electrics in their rental fleet, so that makes sense.

I frequently see the same pricing for a full size sedan as the manager’s specials (drive happy, you click-we pick, etc.), with prices for smaller options slightly less. I always like to have my car class pinned down, since I don’t want to end up with a pick-up, van, or large SUV. Others like to take the chance in the hope of getting a larger vehicle at a discounted price. YMMV.
