We'll be traveling to WDW on 75 S on the Friday & Saturday after Thanksgiving. I'm looking for suggestions for a campground just off the interstate within a couple of hours of WDW--somewhere we can basically pull off the road for the night in the early evening and then get up and get to the Fort within a few hours in the morning.
I'm still crossing my fingers that we'll be able to actually reserve a spot a day early, but this is my Plan B!
Any suggestions will be much appreciated! :goodvibes

We drive down I75 everytime 26 to date then take the toll road over to Orlando. We have stayed at (what was a KOA) in Wildwood, FL several times. It is the exit just before the toll road. It was $40.00 in September for full hook up and 50 Amp service. By the way the KOA sign is still out on the freeway. The place is right behind the Dennys. It is about 60 miles from the Fort. pixiedust:

We usually stay in Ocala, Ocala RV Resort, its right on the Freeway and about two blocks from Cracker Barrel..It was a KOA many years ago. Its easy to get to and easy to leave and get to 75. Its less than 2 hours to the Fort..

Thanks! I'm thinking that I'm going to need to make a reservation considering the weekend it will be. This helps!

We stayed in Lake Lousia this last time in Clermont. $24.00 a night if your a senior you get half off. It was clean with pull through sites. You need to reserve in advance. Nothing there but very convient and clean.

Don't meen to hi-jack this but have a quick question for Grumpy. How is Emerald Beach RV Park? Looking for someplace to camp Thanksgiving.

We've stayed at the Valdosta KOA in southern GA. It's only a few miles from FL and only a couple of hours from WDW and is located only a few yards from I-75. The downside is the campground is next door to a club, but a RV has more sound insulation that our PU did. At the very least, it is another option if you are having trouble finding another available campsite.

I can find out for you. I'll let you know tomorrow what I find out. I bet they have vacancies. Have you ever stayed there before? Have you tried Fort Pickens?

They have vacanies, they said there was about 12 sites.
