Our family will be arriving at the CBR mid-afternoon on a Saturday in Feb. Our family consist of 4 adults and 3 children under 5. We would like to take it easy as we will be going to the MK at opening on Sunday. We do have a car. Any suggestions on a dinner reservation? Not too interested in Shutters as we did that last year. Thanks,

Jackie

We like Chef Mickeys for the first night. But with 3 kids under the age of 5 a buffet can be a lot of work for the adults :goodvibes How about 'Ohana at the Poly?

I'll add a vote for CM as a first night dinner. You get to have the first night with ::MickeyMo . The buffet has quite a selection of kid friendly food. If it's not too late after the meal, you could also do a circuit of the monorail before heading back to your resort.

We've decided to do Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge for our first night's meal this time. Can't say whether or not that is a good choice because we don't leave until January (see ticker below).

I chose this because I thought my 2 sons would have fun there, it would ease us in to the Disney Magic, & I want to check out the WL. I also hope we can stay around to watch the water pageant. We have tickets for that day & will go to Epcot for a couple of rides in the early afternoon, but if you didn't want to pay park admission for your first day this would be a good option too.

We booked LTT since the kids usually want to hit MK as soon as we check in. I'm sure we'll all be a little tired so we didn't want to run all over to different parks. Since there are characters at LTT that will really get everyone into the Disney spirit.

Take a bus to MK, then ride the monorail over to 1900 Park at Grand Floridian. The little ones will get a chance to see MK, whetting their appetites for your sunday visit, and then you'll have characters!

DS23 and DS22 will be heading to Teppayanki (sp?) for dinner the first night.

DS10 and I are heading to Concourse Steakhouse. He wants to see the monorail hotel and rests.

We have Chef Mickey's as our last full night dinner, as our way of ending the trip.

Our vote is for Chef Mickey's! Great way to kick off the trip with no park admission! Second choice - 1900 Park 3rd choice - 'Ohana (love the monorail resorts).

Our tradition is to always have Chef Mickey's on our first day. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the magic and see the Big Cheese himself on your first day. Plus the parmesan mashed potatoes are to die for. ;)

Our Tradition is ALWAYS Chef Mickey's on our arrival day!!! Nothing beats having dinner with Mickey to start the trip off right!!!

I would suggest any of the resort restaurants or anywhere in Downtown Disney. Again, like PPs have said, you won't have to use a day at the park.

2nd Vote for 1900 Park Fare character buffet. The children will enjoy riding on the monorail. And the GF atmosphere is great for the adults.

We do the HDDR the first night. It's a lot of fun and a great way to start our vacation!

My first choices w0uld be WCC or 'Ohana, bitn do things to entetain the shildren and after travelling they may want to bmove around during the meal. The food is also brought to the table so less work for the adults. Chef Mickey comes a close third but has the advantage of characters.

In february the operating hours of the parks are limited, so you will want to eat somewhere you will be albe to do a few things. MK and Epcot are open the latest, usually till 9:00 p.m.

I would recommend eating in mexico (epcot) at San Angel Inn. Great atmosphere, the kids will enjoy el rio de tiempo (boat ride), and you can watch illuminations from any country in world showcase.

We enjoyed Planet Hollywood in DTD, the DJ was very nice to the kids and played everything they asked him to (and there were nine kids). My son loved Capn Jack, also in DTD. He like looking out over the water, and watching the small boats go out. We also enjoyed Mickeys Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness.

I posed this same question for our trip 3 years ago. I took the advice of my kind DISers to go to Chef Mickey's arrival night- we were staying at the CR, so it made sense.

Big mistake. Our boys were 5 years and 20 months. We were soooo tired from the long flight, that dealing with characters, a buffet, the noise, the chaos....it just was not a relaxing way to ease into our trip.

Looking back, we should have just gone to a table service meal where the food was brought to our table or just done counter service and relaxed in the pool in the evening.

We also did the monorail circuit after dinner - another mistake- the kids were just antsy and wanted to get off at every stop, etc. :sad2: And we generally have very well behaved children- it was just circuit overload I think.

When we went last fall, we just went to the food court at POFQ and that was more managable.

Have fun!

Another vote for Chef Mickey's. It's our first night tradition. High energy fun gets you and the kids a great start to the vacation. We wouldn't think of going anywhere else.
