substituting CS for TS

is it possible to substitute counter service for table service? i'm interested in booking the free dining thing but we tend to do more CS than TS meals. any chance that's allowed or will be just be stuck paying OOP for CS and having a TS credit or two left over?
 
From what I have heard it was offered once or twice before but only because there weren't any more TS restraunts available at the time.

You should not expect it to happen as it probably won't happen. I think it was only the first year or two that the free dining started.

You are able to have a 16" pizza delivered to your room for 2TS credits. I believe you also get 2 drinks and 2 deserts.

CS has never been allowed to be exchanged for TS!

As squirrel explained briefly, this exchange was officially permitted during 2007 Free Dining (and possibly 2006 as well) because despite Disney's best efforts, so many people who booked the package but did not plan ahead, were complaining because they couldn't get in (walk in) to any Table Service restaurants, so they couldn't use their TS credits.

As a matter of policy, printed in the Dining Plan brochure is text indicating that table service credits cannot be 'swapped' for counter service. Now, the resort Managers MAY be able and willing to override this, but it should not be expected.

And there are numerous posts even just on the DIS, where a Cast Member has given incorrect/inaccurate information. It happens. Everybody can't know everything.
 

The main issue is that many CS POSs cannot record a TS transaction, so in those places there is nothing that can be done. Beyond that, internal auditing comes down on staff that record transactions that are evidently not appropriate.

The best bet is to ask the hotel front desk if they'd be willing to convert some of your TS for you into CS, the night before you need them. There have been reports of success along those lines. I agree that this shouldn't be expected, and surely folks should not expect such conversions to be made at the CS eatery itself.

I have no idea what they're telling you, but you cannot exchange a CS credit for a TS meal.

The only exchanges permitted have been TS for CS during free dining, at a time when TS restaurants were overbooked and guests were complaining about being unable to use their TS credits at all.

If TS can be exchanged for CS, that can't be done at the CS locations themselves -the credits themselves would have to be converted. If you have the option of dining at TS, you need to do that if you want the plan to hold its value. Once you start skipping TS meals, the value disappears. (Of course that isn't really relevant when it was free to start with)

WDW-DINE is rather notorious for giving out incorrect information.
 
thanks for the help everyone. still trying to convince my DH that september trip to disneyworld is exactly what we need right now though i doubt i'll convince him to break our every other year streak :(
 
Friends of ours who just purchased DDP (during free dining) because they waited too long, were told they shouldn't have a problem getting ADR's! :rotfl2: At least they did mention the cutoff date for making any changes. Yea, like a refund of DDP. Seriously though, they'll probably make a bunch of ADR's that will run them all over and come back disappointed.
