How do y'all carry your DSLRs around the Parks? I have a standard camera bag that came with the bundle, but I was wondering if there are any bags you like that are easier to carry around or somewhat cuter? Or if you don't use a camera bag, what do you do?

Black Rapid strap works really great, especially if you're not carrying around any extra lenses.

Back when I had a Canon Rebel T4i I could whip it up, turn it on and take the shot all with my right hand, then let it sling back to my side.

Now with my dopey-stupid Canon 6D the power switch is on the other side requiring two handed operation... :rotfl:

When I do have extra lenses with me I carry around a canvas messenger style bag with a velcro latch and keep everything in that. I always start out keeping the Canon in there too but most times it ends up on my neck via the BR strap.

I purchased a camera bag with removable dividers. So I took the divider pouch out of the camera bag, and it just happened to fit nicely in a pink Lacoste backpack that I purchased. So that has become my camera bag for park touring.

My camera is on a comfy strap around my neck. My memory cards, batteries and sometimes an extra lens is stashed in my pack that carries ponchos and other things.

As far as stylish bags... Epiphanie, JoTotes and Kelly Moore are a few brands that offer camera bags that don't look like camera bags. There are also a few companies that make drop ins to put in your bag of choice.

I don't know about stylish, but I much prefer a backpack to a one-shoulder camera bag for the weight distribution on long park days. I use an ape case (padded insert cube) inside my Deuter city light pack (which is a perfect tiny size backpack). It holds my dslr, ponchos, first aid kit, sunscreen, spare flops, and a few other things but isn't so big or hot as a full size backpack.

Anyone know how comfortable these (Epiphanie, JoTotes, Kelly Moore, Cherry Lime, etc.) are to carry? I dream of a cute bag that floats by my hip without causing shoulder or back pain and looking absurd when I'm actually in one of the pictures.

A lot of how comfortable a bag is depends on how heavy your gear is. My camera with a 50mm f/1.4 is comfortable for me to carry all day but you put the 24-105 and a speedlite on there and it gets real heavy, real fast.

The one thing the more fashion oriented bags tend to lack is a nice, padded strap. For some that makes a difference.

Thanks all! Those are great options- carrying it around my neck got pretty hot last time and I realized I really need to invest in a better bag.

For actually carrying it out in the open, I prefer the Op/Tech Utility Strap to the Black Rapid R-Strap. It works better, is more convenient, more comfortable, and half the price. You can also get it in a few different styles. :) Either one, though, is far better than those awful OEM neck straps. I can't believe anyone uses them!

Make sure you have a strap that breathes. It will help with it getting hot on your neck. I love my Crumpler Industry Disgrace.

IMO a good strap is more important than a good bag.

Nothing to add, just holding a post here for later research. At WDW now and my wife said she wants a better bag for our SLR for our next trip.

I love this! So are are you going to be putting any kind of dividers in there to protect your camera or just setting it in there. I really love this and was already considering the large hipster bag for general purposes.

After a couple of days lugging my camera and another lens around in my shoulder purse, I realized I was getting a sore neck. This was when I purchased the Vera Bradley backpack. I put a large zip lock bag in the bottom of the backpack in case it rained or I went on a water ride. Other than that, no padding. My personal stuff goes in the backpack first and then my camera on top of that. The cosmetic bag came in handy for the extra lens.

TC :cool1:

I use a black rapid equivalent strap for my DSLR and the lowepro passporter slingshot for my stuff. I carry extra batteries, lens, wallet, poncho and other bits and pieces really comfortably.

The bag has a padded box which fits the camera and the other lens.

I've found both the strap and bag really comfortable.

I like my Tamrac Adventurer for when I take more than just the camera and one lens. Most of the time I have it on me, using a shoulder strap. My preference is the Upstrap. You may prefer something different.

So glad I found this thread!! I have a Lowepro 350 mahoosive thing which is great for long journeys but not so much for just wandering round during the day with. Will definitely invest in some portable dividers for a rucksack. Other than that I'll just have to wrap my DSLR in a tshirt or something for padding

Me with my LowPro bag and Black Rapid Sling.
