Has anyone else been Disneyed out? I mean the last two trips have not been the same as the first three excitement wise. Christmas 08 was ho hum but we figured it was because we had been there the same time the year before.
So this year we went over the Halloween season looking for that "thing" that is missing. Didn't find it. We had a great time, F&W is a great event but something was still off, missing or whatever you would call it.
Glad we never bought DVC because we are not even talking about going back like we have returning from previous trips.
Weird or what, anyone else?

I have had a couple of trips where afterwards i didn't suffer post Disney Depression. We had a few un-magical moments that left us a bit disappointed, but within a few months i was back on the train. Tastes change as well from time to time. But I can say right now, when it looks like it may be 2-3 years before we get back, I am dying. My last trip we went for 2 weeks and had soemone in our room sick for the entire first week, i forgot some medication at home and that was a disaster trying to replace it down there...and yet one night after getting off the buss i was behind my family walking with the stroller and I had that moment where all of life's problems left me and I realized I was in my happy place. That is why i will always go back, because i always have a moment there where I am completely happy and stress free.

But yeah I don't think it is weird. Time away makes you miss it, and the thought of not being able to go can make it worse. We like to throw in a cruise or an all inclusive from time to time as well to mix it up.

First off "Happy New Year!"

So glad you posted this..I've often wanted to myself. It's not so much that I'm Disney'd out...we enjoy ourselves when we go and have a wonderful time however it's seeing the same thing over and over and I have to agree with you about the "feeling".

We are going in March however we're not doing Disney. All three of our DD's said they only want to go back to US/IOA (especially now WWOHP is there) and we're going to do Typhoon Lagoon for the first time. We did our first water park last year (Aquatica) and the kids LOVED it. Throw in a beach day, some down days for shopping etc. and it will be a different trip....yet familiar. We always stay offsite (rent a pool home) so we have more flexibility and space ;)

I think once the kids see WWOHP this will probably be our last trip to Florida for awhile. DH and the girls are eager to try and see different things. I'm not one for change but I too think it will be time to "move on".

That would be us too..last visit was in April for our sons 10th b-day...don't think we'll be going again for a few years..we will stick to Carnival Cruises....much more fun and DS said he enjoyed the last one more then disney!
Cheaper too

LOL, we used the term "Disneyed out" during our recent trip! We just got back about 3 weeks ago (it was our 3rd trip in 3 years). The cold temperatures and crowd levels had us "Disneyed out" after about the 6th day there (we were there for 8). What I think we'd benefit from this year would be 2 smaller trips rather than 1 long trip. The magic of visiting WDW is still there, but I think because of familiarity it's wearing off a little quicker once we're there.

Maybe that is it. Our last three trips were 12 days each. Too much of a good thing??? :confused3

That would be me...totally done. have not even been to WDW in 15 months with no desire to go back. Did our last annual DL trip in June and it was not great. Just have got to a point in my life where my hard earned money is done with crowds and waiting and uberplanning. I just want to get there have fun, relax, re-charge, feel like I got my money's worth and go home. I don't get that with Disney anymore so I go elsewhere now:goodvibes

The last time I went (Oct 2008) I was Disneyed out...... Not ready to go back yet, but it will be soon.

I think this next trip will put me into the Disneyed out category. Plan to take some time way ... travel southwestern US ... then in May 2012 perhaps a cruise in the Med with Disney.

What do you do now Drag n' fly?
Didn't you have DVC at one time?
We were thinking a DL trip but there is still no excitement for it, plus it wouldn't be cheap from Ontario.

It's not too bad if you fly from Buffalo. I live in Bowmanville and if you time your drive right you ar elooking at 2-2.5 hours and you save at least $250 per person.

We've been Disneyed out many times just shortly after arriving home. I can recall saying the following after the last few trips......"This is our last trip for awhile"....."Ok, now I know I've said this before, but this will really be our last trip for a few years at least"......"OK, I know you're gonna call me crazy, but this is REALLY our last trip so don't ask to go back"

The familiarity thing is likely the culprit..but lately, with the kids now in their mid teens, the excitement for them is not there. They don't want to go w/o their friends now and with DD having a job, it's now harder to schedule. Our last visit we went w/o the kids and had a very nice time...relaxing actually....but we were still tired each day.

The excitement of the first 2 trips can never be duplicated.....but I continue to dream about going back because I know I can do as much or as little as I want, the weather has always been fantastic, I know what to expect when I get there, I don't have to drive anywhere, I never once have thought about work or home while I've been away.....I guess for these reasons I keep wanting to go back.

Also, when co-workers ask me advise on things it rekindles some of my memories and experiences - bringing it all back to me.

Yes we did own DVC at one point but got rid of it as we felt it was not a good fit for us (aka waste o' coin lol) Flights are cheap from Calgary to Palm Springs, Vegas, Los Angeles and Arizona. Hawaii is next (possibly xmas 2011) and of course when I win the lottery or retire (whichever comes first ;)) I want to settle in Sarasota and also USO is our park of choice now when in Florida as my kids are 17,15 and 8:goodvibes.

I think once you are in love with Disney it sticks, maybe you just need to mix it up a little. We are not going to WDW this year, instead we are going to NV/CA (flying from BUF to Vegas, it was the cheapest, we are in Ajax) and driving the coast and ending in DL (using our DVC points there), DL will be part of the trip but not the reason for the trip. Also, you might want to try DCL, if it is an option. Still Disney-ish but not in your face and sooo wonderfully relaxing (no lines).

In April we paid $448..round trip, direct flight on Southwest for 3 of us! Thats the average price of 1 person out of Toronto

We felt that way a few years ago an I am back in the wagon with my DDs. we went when they were 1yo during the hot hot hot August weather and I said never again. Forward 3 years and the girls started to talk about Mickey and how they wanted to meet the princesses and crazy mommy that I am, I took them last October on my own. We had soooo much fun. To see the twingle in their eyes and their happiness was princeless. Let say we are going back again in May but bringing daddy this time :rotfl: This will make it for an interesting visit for him as he's still Disneyed out... or so he thinks. that being said, it will probably be the last trip for a few years if DH is still tired of it. We won't torture him too much

I am not sure if you only want comments from people who are Disney'd out but I am no where near. I am speaking about Disneyland. I am not talking about going on the attractions over and over, I am talking about a fun safe place to soak up and enjoy. The more often I go the more I learn about how the park was built and who built it. Everything from listening to the party-line phone conversations in the market house, riding Walt's rail car the Lilly Belle, dining at Club 33, riding in the wheelshouse of the Mark Twain to touring Walt's apartment. One day I hope to stay in the Dream Suite above pirates. I guess I enjoy history so that might make the difference for me. I have spent hours exploring the remains of past attractions and reading the windows on main street. I guess I am hooked. I am sorry to say I do not get the same feeling for WDW but still enjoy it very much. Sit back eat ice-cream listen to a band, watch the fireworks. We don't run from ride to ride. Been many times, still has magic for me.
