stupid question about using a ta

We used a ta to book our land sea cruise but she also wants to book my airfare. Do they get better rates then if we book it ourselves? If not why would i let her book it and charge me $15 a ticket processing fee what would be my benefit? Thanks

You will probably not get better rates, but she will probably charge you the ticketing fee. Sometimes the travel agent can find you even better rates with the ticketing charge than you can find. Also, if they are a good agent they will keep an eye on your flights/cruise/hotel for rate reductions and if the price comes down call and get you a credit.

I'm guessing she wants to book the air so that she will have all the flight info. Also, if there are any schedule changes she would keep up with them. If you book the air on your own and there is a flight schedule change..are you going to be deligent to keep up with that incase the airline does not notify you? Also, what if you have a connecting flight and that causes the connection time to be too tight? Would you know which airports may require a longer connection? or which airports typically have more weather delays?

She would probably allow you to book it on your own. If you really want to do it on your own you would have to keep up with all of that info and should give her you flight info. so she can add it to your reservation to ensure correct transfers, etc....
