Since the PP said that they wouldn't pass "dotted line or not" and referenced the area (not the big yellow line), I'd think your explanation is, in fact, very unlikely.

That is a solid yellow, one lane, and marked "suggested dangerous" to pass would that be correct? I've never seen any road marked that way, Yikes!!; Is there signage to go with this? Unless, my ol'der eyes are deceiving me!

When the lane markings indicated that I was legally permitted to pass (broken yellow line), I decided to pass. Based on this photo, I agree with Jennasis - I would not have attempted the pass. Even though the center line is dotted, I still wouldn't. It's just too residential for me, in my opinion. And this is just what I (individual me), would not do. Not judging DizBelle on her decision to attempt to pass, as she was legally able to do so.

Did DizBelle post what speed the Jackhole was traveling? I might have missed that.

If I may...

I saw the pic, with the dotted line (I assumed the big yellow line was from Google maps and not on the pavement). I wouldn't pass another vehicle in a residential area like the one in that picture. There could be kids, pets, other cars backing out of driveways etc.

In the interst of transparency, I have a major leadfoot and cannot STAND being stuck behind slow pokes. Happened to me today. I could have legally passed the car that was crawling along, but I did not judge it to be safe to do so based on the surroundings. I have passed cars before though and don't have any problem with doing so when it is safe and prudent.

I wouldn't do it if the road was that curved and had no shoulder. I rarely pass, and it would have to take something really extreme, like a 90 year old driver who refuses to go faster than 10 MPH. You know - the kind of driver whose hands are together at the 12 o'clock position with the body leaned over the steering wheel. Actually - leaning over the steering wheel is a pretty good way to get decapitated (or at least a broken neck) if the airbag goes off.

But you made the assumption; the fact that the posts were close to each other has no bearing on you trying to include another poster in your mistake.

It may not have been a good idea (albeit otherwise legal) given the layout of the area, but someone intentionally swerving to stop someone from overtaking is illegal and considerably more dangerous than someone merely attempting to pass. Had there been a collision, there's no doubt who would be at fault. When someone really wants to go faster than I feel comfortable and I have options, I will let the other driver overtake me any time. I'll never go out of my way to block another driver.

No (and I said as much a few posts up). And I didn't think she was saying I thought the big yellow line was on the pavement. I thought she was pointing out that I was making a call based on what the photo looked like to me.

Let's pretend for an instant that the OP was there and determined the other driver was going far too slow to stay behind, and also determined that it was safe enough to pass. The fact that the other driver swerved to actually prevent her from doing so was very very dangerous. I'm with the OP - that driver was a jackhole.

Try working on a Sunday. It seems like every driver leisurely drives around because they don't have to work but I struggle to get to work on time. I have to leave 40 minutes early on Sundays where I normally leave 20 minutes early any other day of the week. I didn't really believe the whole Sunday driver thing until I had to work Sundays. It's enraging.

I guess I don't understand the point of wasting paint on a road in a neighborhood? If any of you live in a neighborhood with painted lines, could you post a pic? I have lived in Indianapolis, spent plenty of time in major cities in Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan and don't recall seeing painted lines in a neighborhood. I'm not saying they don't exist, I've just never seen it and still don't understand the point.

Off the top of my head I know of a neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown Indy and another in Greenwood that have dotted lines. I also know of two 55+ communities near where I currently live that have dotted lines. I think most neighborhoods probably don't have lines though.

I do but it is open carry as well which is why I don't get out anymore since I carry most of the time. I don't want that hanging over my head if I do get out. In my younger days, I did some things not thinking them out clearly. I can handle myself pretty well but after getting married and having a son my youthful invincible attitude change. Although, if I feel you are doing something stupid, I will tell you if I get the opportunity at the next light. My wife doesn't like it but I can't help myself.

It sounds like you know me?? Do I work with you or do you live in my neighborhood? I have never mentioned anything about being a bully on the road, aggressive, or anything. If you think me telling you at a stop light you are driving like an idiot for something that is potentially dangerous to others around you is bullying then that is your opinion, it's wrong, but it is your opinion.

Just for the record and so you are clear, I would never get out of any vehicle while carrying a gun unless I intended on using it to protect myself, family, or someone who might be in danger.

Exactly! I explained that in my previous post. Just because someone wants to pass, it doesnt mean they have road rage.

I'm not entirely certain but I would guess it was around 10mph slower than the speed limit.

Then you definitely did nothing wrong in trying to pass. I have no idea why some posters automatically go to accusations of "road rage" just because one driver expresses frustration at another. Makes you wonder about what issues they have, you know?
