Because that's what a broken yellow line means. If she was not allowed to pass, it would have been a solid yellow line.

Around here a solid double yellow means no passing. A single solid yellow is pretty much only used to mark the center of the street at intersections.

So I'm driving home going through a neighborhood and the driver in front of me was driving very slowly. When the lane markings indicated that I was legally permitted to pass (broken yellow line), I decided to pass. This idiot in front of me moves to the left a little in to the oncoming and as I'm trying to pass. I *thought* that they had accidentally drifted into the oncoming lane. So, I attempted to pass again. Apparently they did not drift. They just decided that they did not want to let me pass so they came over again and ALMOST HIT ME. Freaking moron.

Who does he think he is preventing me from doing what I am legally permitted to do?!? I was not breaking any traffic laws at all. I was JUST TRYING TO PASS. These are the kinds of people that make society the craphole it is. I really wish this guy (and people like him) would just go away and rot. The world would be a better place.

Once I passed a guy and afterwards, he blew his horn at me. He continued to blow his horn at me until I stopped in front of him, got out of my truck and confronted him. Of course he stopped blowing his horn at that point.

And this is why I will never be unemployed!!! Relax do you realize the average time gained by these moves is anywhere from 90 seconds to 3 minutes. Yeah so worth it

Speed limit in residential areas here is 30mph unless otherwise posted.

Ours is 20 MPH. It is hard to go that slow.

That doesn't make any sense. From what I understood, every state is legally required to comply with federal standards on pavement markings.

You are correct, 2 to 3 minutes. But had I stayed behind every jackhole, I woulda wasted 10 years of my life.
