Stuck on Splash, Swimming in Sewage, & Still Laughing! A "Classy" 6/11 TR- 5/6 DONE!

AHH YAY THE TRIP IS BACK ON!!!! I was pretty sad when you said it wasn't happening too...BUT YAY THAT IT IS! :santa:

Just found your trip report and I love it, probably because I think we're alot alike. Can't wait to read more.

Oh hi there. What's that you say? You started reading this trip report nine months ago and the author dropped off the face of the planet? That's odd. Who would do something like that. Oh...that's right. I would. :guilty: Sorry about that folks. I hope you forgive me and still love me enough to keep reading this bad boy, because I've got a whole other one to write! Enough of these pleasantries...let's get back to it!

When I left off (in September) we were recovering from our nightmare on Splash Mountain. I think the post traumatic stress was messing with my head, because I almost suggested we give it another shot before the second Electrical Parade. Almost, but not quite. I didn't want John to get arrested for trying to murder the animatronic Brer Fox and Brer Bear, so I decided we would just wait the twenty extra minutes and see the parade.

Did I mention this is my second favorite parade of all time? I love the music. John thinks it's horribly obnoxious, which sucks for him because it's my ringtone! Muah ha ha!

Now, I know when you woke up this morning the first thought to pop into your head was, "Gee, I wish I could see some really low quality pictures of the Electrical Parade..." Well, my friend, call me Fairy Godmother because your wish is GRANTED! :wizard:

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Walt Disney World proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination in thousands of sparkling lights and electrosynthomagnetic musical sounds . . . the Main Street Electrical Parade!

Can't you just hear it now?

I'm always so impressed by the parade choreography, no matter what parade it is. I know I could never do that. I would trip and fall and get run over by a float , thus scarring small children for life and ruining everyone in the vicinity's vacation. *Sigh*

As much as I love this parade, the Pete's Dragon float always freaks me out. I know that he's supposed to be a little kid perched up there, but he is so obviously a grown man. Grown men giggling scare me just a bit.

Yay! Here comes my favorite float!

Ahh, I love that parade. I was happy to see it and John was happy to see it end, so to end his misery I suggested we ride PotC before leaving. I figured that would get the Electrical Parade music out of his head.

The park was pretty dead by now so we had a whole boat practically to ourselves. I will never EVER get tired of that ride. Ever. Or of the moldy smell. I love it. I don't mean to brag, but I am an avid pin collector, and I just so happen to own a pin that has an actual piece of Pirates of the Caribbean in it. It's from the part where they're auctioning off the wives. I'm super proud of that thing. Okay, so I'm totally bragging.

After the ride we messed around in the pirates gift shop for awhile. We always goof off in this gift shop more than any other. Being the literary nerd that I am, I fell in love with this shirt mocking the Alexander Pope quote. Okay, I didn't actually fall in love with it. It wasn't that serious, but I really liked it.

I made a mental note to buy it, but I never got around to it. I actually ended up buying it for my sister on our December trip.

After doing a little browsing we were both tired and ready to go home. HAHA, not home as in NC, but home as in our wonderful king sized bed at AKL! ;)

Up Next: Time for John's favorite- Animal Kingdom! Let's go wild!

JONI! You're ALIVE! So glad you decided to come on back to good ole' land of the DISers lol And now my need to try hard in English is revived... sorta lol Don't hate me :teeth:

Anyways, back to the trip report! Love your pictures of the Main Street Electrical Parade! I must agree, it is a very fun parade. I mean, I still love Spectro, but MSEP will always be there for me in it's absence. The music does get on my nerves at times, yet so does Small World (when the boats get backed up to the last scene... you know what I'm talking about), but I still love that ride! And now that you mention about the Pete's Dragon quote, yeah... a bit creepy O_o

:thumbsup2 to POTC! Such a fun ride and I really need to get a nice good whiff of essence of pirate when I'm there. Seriously, I feel like I'm missing out on the fact I can't remember how the darn ride smelled! Just imagine me now banging my head against the wall and some form of Disney merchandise nearby, that's how frustrated I am right now ;) Oh and I love the shirt you found! I really need to read some more classic works, even though I think some of the ones I've read this year may have ruined my chances of ever reading one of those, but who knows :D

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Yay! I'm so glad you're still reading along with me! :goodvibes Thank you for hanging in there! Haha, trust me, I don't hate you. It's getting close to summer vacation, so even my love for English is starting to fade! :rotfl:

I can see where the Electrical Parade music could get old. I know exactly what you're talking about from It's a Small World...by that point I'm usually on the verge of ripping my hair out.

I need to bottle the PotC smell! It's amazing. I'm sorry about your frustration! I hate when I've been away from Disney too long and stuff like that starts slipping away. It's all about the little things, but they can be hard to hold onto! :sad1:

Now it's time to comment on this one!

Can we just talk about how I laughed out loud at both of these for wayy too long? Like... omg I'm just cracking up. :rotfl2:

I don't know if you have heard but they're bringing Spectro back this summer. So sadly, the MSEP will be no longer for a while :(

Pirates is THE BEST. I don't know what it is but I will never get tired of it either. It's just wonderful. And OMG I'm jealous of that pin! That's so cool!!!

That shirt is funny haha

Can't wait for more!

Hey there, I'm just joining in! I love your TR, great job on it. You include a lot of great details and you are funny, two of the very most important traits in a Trip Reporter! I have to say you are so lucky you have found a hubby who loves Disney! I refuse to marry someone who doesn't... that's just the way it is.

Please don't apologize for nerdy Harry Potter references! I love em! I am a huge HP fan and love reading about WWoHP, which I still haven't visited! It's so hard for me to tear myself away from Disney when I'm there. I'm totally not surprised that you were feeling depressed being in Orlando and not being at Disney. I HATE leaving Disney property. But anyway, that's so awesome that they filmed the commercial the day you were there and you saw the Phelps twins! I love those guys. And who knows, maybe you ended up in the BG of the commercial.

I totally relate to you crying at Sea World! I've never been there, but I get super emotional at Disney all the time. You are not alone! Also I love your Full House reference... I would have totally sung that song too! haha

You are so sweet to try and surprise John like that! AKL is definitely one of my favorite resorts, it's just unbelievable there. :) That pic of him sleeping next to the towel Mickey is so precious. And I love that you love Stacey. She is amazing. I quote her constantly. It's so funny that you were singing the Livin It Up song, cause on our last trip (in Dec) my mom and I got such a kick out of it and sung it over and over at the parks like the nerds we are!

I love that you stood up to those annoying teenagers. You probably stopped them from doing the same thing on other rides and ruining more guest experiences. I'm glad they showed remorse at least and didn't just blow you off. You must be a great teacher!

So glad you are back to updating again.. hope you post another one soon! :thumbsup2

Hahaha, I'm so glad I can make you crack up too, because your TRs always do that to me! There's just those little moments when I read something that I can't stop laughing at! :lmao:

I HADN'T HEARD THAT. :sad1: Okay nothing against Spectro, because it's great, but I love the MSEP sooo much. Bummer! Oh well, I kind of overloaded on it on our last few trips so I should be good to go until they bring it back. They better bring it back, darn it.

They had a whole series of those pins with actual pieces of Disney rides in them. They're called the Piece of History pins, and I think they've had three series of them come out now. Hopefully they will have a fourth soon so you can get some! I only ever got one for Pirates, but I wish I had gotten others. They even had a Carousel of Progress one! :lovestruc

I loved that shirt, but I found an even funnier one in December that I'm going to post on my next TR. I'm sure you probably saw it while you were there, but it had a pirate on it and it said, "I whip my locks to and fro." I thought that was hilarious! :rotfl:

:welcome: Thank you so much for joining in! I'm so glad you are enjoying my TR so far! :goodvibes I am beyond thrilled that John is a Disney junkie too! I don't blame you for not wanting to marry someone who isn't! ;)

YAY! I'm glad you enjoy my nerdy HP references! The WWoHP is awesome, but I totally understand your discomfort with leaving Disney property. It feels so weird to be in Orlando and not be in Disney World! Oh my, I never thought that I might be in the background of that commercial! I need to see if I can find it and see myself gawking in the background like a weirdo! :lmao:

Something about Disney/Sea World just gets the waterworks going! My poor husband probably thinks I'm emotionally unstable considering the number of times I openly weep on our vacations. Ah well, tears of joy!

We absolutely fell in love with AKL! It was gorgeous! It definitely spoiled us and made us want to stay in a deluxe resort again ASAP! That's awesome that you love Stacey too! I wonder if she's ever realized what a huge fanbase she has! Hahaha, I just opened your TR and I saw you had the lyrics to the "Living it Up" song! Now I know what I'm supposed to say instead of "...a hot sauce feeling!" Yay!

Thanks! I felt kind of like a stick in the mud when I blessed them out, but they were acting ridiculous and I know it was messing up other people's good time. I'm just glad they didn't call my bluff and decide to knock me down a peg or two!

All of your comments are so sweet! I really appreciate you reading along. I'm going to catch up on your TR now! :thumbsup2

I love your pictures of MSEP, but I have to be honest...looking at it, I was listening to Spectro in my head! I can't stand that music! Where did you find that ringtone? I'd love to have Spectro as mine!

Haha, that pirate shirt is really cute! :rotfl:

Haha, I love those low quality MSEP pictures! I'd love to have the music as my ringtone too. Baroque music is awesome! I <3 the harpsichord. If that bad boy were still popular, I'd totally snatch one up and learn to play the music ALL . DAY . LONG. I'd totally quit teaching.

So cool that you have that POTC pin. What piece is it exactly?

A late subber here! I just came across your TR and read it all the way through! I had to read the whole thing in one setting, kinda like not being able to put a good book down!

I live in SC and can totally relate to your "country-ness". Almost everytime we're in Disney in a ride line, when me & DD are talking, the person in front of us usually asks, "where are you guys from?" :rotfl:

The time we went to Sea World, I rememebr we were behind a family and I was talking to the mom, and she was saying how she loved hearing southern people talk. But her son was having the best time trying to talk southern. It was hilarious!

Are you still going back to WDW this summer? We went last June and December, too! And we're planning to go back in June.

Can't wait to hear more!

Yay! I'm glad you're updating again!

I like the Pope t-shirt; I've seen a lot of t-shirts/merchandise spoofing the quote but I don't think they all pull it off quite as well.

I haven't seen either Main Electrical or Spectro in so long, I don't remember either (our last trip we kept running into the Christmas one due to timing/Christmas parties/etc) and have no opinion on which is better. I feel like it's something I really should feel decisively about, but I really just like pretty lighted-up parades! :goodvibes

Oh, and I was rereading your trip report, and if you don't mind, what exactly is a Green Beret? The Wiki page isn't very helpful for people who are not up on their army jargon (i.e., me!). Is it like the Army's version of a SWAT team or Navy SEALs (if you exclude the Air Force, that is all of my military knowledge summed up in one sentence :rotfl:)?

I don't think you're alone in hating that music- John definitely agrees with you! I love it! :lovestruc I'm listening to it on YouTube right now!

I made the ringtone with a recording...I just downloaded one of those make your own ringtone apps!

The MSEP music is so loud and crazy, it always gets my attention, and it makes amazing alarm music too! I love it! HAHAHA I think you should bring the harpsichord back, Rachel! :thumbsup2 You could make it cool again!

I think it said the piece is from one of the animatronics at the part of the ride where they are selling the brides. I'm not sure exactly which character it's from, but me wants the redhead! ;)

:welcome: You're not late- you're right on time! I'm so glad you're here!

:rotfl: That's so funny that happens to you too! Southern accents are so noticeable!

HAHA I love to hear non-southern people trying to sound southern. They seem to think it sounds good, but true southerners always get a kick out of it! :lmao:

That's so awesome we've been there around the same time! We are going back this summer, but we're not going until July!

I'm going to go check out your TR now! :)

Yay! I'm glad you're updating again!

You're right- I think Disney spoofs that quote best! :thumbsup2

 I'm like you- I love lighted-up parades! You should look them both up on YouTube and see if you're Team Spectro or Team Electrical Parade! ;)

I don't mind at all! A Green Beret is the Army Special Forces. To be honest I don't really understand it that well either, but I know it's pretty elite. He had to go through two years of training, so a lot goes into it. While there jobs are very different, I usually make the Navy SEALs connection as far as how elite the job is. Sorry, I'm not very good at describing that stuff! :)
