stuck in the house--SNOW

It's not the foot of snow i mind so much as the fact that we just spent 7 hours with no electric. Ok so i didnt shovel any of the snow hubby did but thank god for a gas fireplace.

Yah and I thought I was lucky to make it into Logan yesterday.....
Wish I was still in Orlando!!!! :confused3

We have a hefty amount of snow here too, in New Hampshire. I just saw a pizza delivery guy take out one of the parking lot light poles in our apartment complex. Needless to say, he didn't look too happy :sad2:

Our Snow just stopped.. about 17 inches later.. yuck! And to think, I don't even have a Disney trip planned to dream of the warmer weather... I think I need to change that.. ha ha!!

That was my first thought too, when I read this...My son also has a S.I. and I don't really think of it as being funny , but to each his own... :confused3

To all of U I also have a speech impediment I took many years of speach in school and still lisp and certain words are just NO WAY. If U cant laugh at yourself U shouldnt laugh at others I agree. So I laugh at myself. He will outgrow his I hope and if he doesnt Guess he will Shubble snow all his life.

PS I have 3 BS degrees and did belong to MENSA so speach is no indication of inteligence. Lighten up people U must laugh at life or it will kill U.

What do they do with all that snow in the big cities? Do they come in with dump trucks to take it all away? It must be a mess for days on end. I know once I saw this snow melting truck, but those have to be pricey. Here they just throw it higher into our yards, but in our small town it takes forever to get the streets completely cleared to normal lanes where there are store fronts rather than yards. I can't imagine! ICKY!!

The NYC Dept. of Sanitation uses front loaders to load the snow into dump trucks. The snow is then taken to sites that have special snow melting machines that are hooked up directly to the sewers. I know this because my husband works for the Sanitation Dept., therefore making me a "snow widow". DS(13) and I spent 4 hours shoveling the 12+ inches of snow that we got here! :cold:

Interesting! DH and I went to school in the UP of Michigan and they would take it and dump it in the river, but it wasn't a big city either. It was mostly woods with a school in the middle of the woods!

I suppose now you have to worry about flooding though when it melts!

I cannot show my boys the snow pictures!! Everyone here prayed for much-promised snow only to receive our usual dusting yesterday. We'd take a few days of a foot of snow just to use our sleds and get out of school (we close at First Flake in these parts, ya know:)!)

DIdn't mean to cause problems.. :teeth: My little guy is about 2 yrs behind on his speech articulation. He has a lot to say, but its hard to understand him although he is getting better...It's just hard to watch him get so frustrated in trying to get us to know what he is trying to say...He is already a smart little thing so I'm not worried about that. Some of the stuff he does say just completely blows us away sometimes. I'm just a little sensitive cause he's my baby and my only boy so I tend to want to "protect" him a little more. ;)

p.s. I actually am pretty laid back and take life as it comes. Its just been one of those days... :rolleyes1

:cold: Well we got 12 inches of that white stuff. I am glad the :sunny: is out this morning, would like some melting to start now.

Our official total: 27 inches!!!!! :scared1: Public schools here are open, but my kids go to Catholic school and we're closed. Oh, how I wish it was spring... :sunny:

Well....we got about a foot of snow here. All the schools are closed. I guess we were due to get some...it's been fairly mild here for winter. I heard it went down to the 30's in Orlando last night too. WOW! Stay warm, dry and safe everyone!!

Yup, we have about 23" or so here.. just about 30 mins out of Manhattan.

While I love the snow, I'm looking forward to being in WDW in 2 days!! :sunny:

Spent the yesterday dreaming of warm sunshine in Disney! Today it is so bright outside that you almost get blinded. :cool1: That sun reflecting off a foot and a half a snow is a killer. LOL. :sunny:

My DH is one of those public school teachers. He is in awe that almost all his class showed up. This morning was a real pain trying to get him to work. He just kept saying "3 days till Disney, 3 days till Disney...." :lmao:
