We are going to WDW 5/14-5/21 :cool1: . Have a 4yo son and 6yo daughter :earsboy: :earsgirl: . We are not sure what to do about the stroller issue. Do most people usually bring one from home? We will need a double stroller so that seems it would be a pain to cart onto the airplane. Don't think it would fit in the overhead compartment. I know WDW rents strollers but at $15 per day x7 plus having to wait in line for it especially waiting twice if we go to the parks and then return seems quite time consuming. Need some advice on what other people have done! Thanks Debi

Well, first of all, you can't put any stroller in the overhead bin these days. They all have to be gate-checked.

The question, really, is whether you need a stroller outside of the parks. If so, then bring your own (I'd probably do two singles over a double). Otherwise, you can rent at the parks.

You can rent them for extended period and get a 10% discount rather than just daily.

We have just returned from WDW and the weather was a mixed bag. 50's all the way to 87 on one day.

We have DD's 5 and 3 and could not have done without a stroller.

I highly recommend it, even the 6 yr old will get tired.

Hi, IMHO your kids will probably need a stroller at that age, especially the younger one. Even if they are normally energetic kids, WDW is a lot of walking and you won't be sorry you had one, whether one you own or rented. They do offer a multi day pass for the rentals, which I believe is a 10% discount over the single day use rental. Plus once you have a pass, I think that speeds things up a bit when picking them up (but that's hearsay, I've never actually done it myself).

As far as taking a stroller on an airplane, they do not allow them in the passenger compartment. You can "gate check" them though. Tell the agent at the gate that you're gate-checking your stroller, they will give you a special tag to attach to it, then just before entering the plane, fold & secure it and leave it by the door. Someone will put it in the baggage compartment for you and it will be brought out at your destination and put back on the Jetway for you, so you can use it all the way thru the airports.

Cheryl

Im debating the stroller issue myself. I know I will need a stroller for my kids 3(just turing 3 when we go) & 4(almost 5), but I cant decide if i want to rent. I hate the idea of paying 75$ for something I will not get to keep or have anything to show for, ya know. Im considering buying 2 Maclaren Volos(140$ for 2) just for the trip and then after I will keep one and sell the other cause my 4 yr old doesnt ride normally. Its will end up being the same amount of money in the end, plus I get a stroller to keep. We are driving so thats not an issue for us. I just dont love dealing with stroller on the busses.

We have been to WDW several times with children ages 6, 4,and now 2.. We fly from Nashville and always check in our side by side double stoller. Really nice to have in the parks and walking around the resorts. Plus we bring a collapsable cooler and keep it under the stroller. Bring kids fruit and bottled water as well as snacks. We buy those can lunchable and give them to kids for lunch. They enjoy spagetti ohs and such more than fast food at parks. We give them those unless we eat at a sit down restaurant.

As a Mom of four and a former cast member, I recommend renting the double stroller at the park. Sadly, there were many strollers stolen when I was there, and I know from friends that are current Cast Members that the theft is still an issue from time to time. If you are staying at a Disney Resort, call the park from your room and explain your situation ahead of time. They will bend over backwards to reserve one for you if you like. :earsgirl:

You have a couple options, you can bring a double or two singles and either check it (them) through to the destination, or gate check it (them). With gate check you simply get a special tag at the gate before boarding. Fold the stroller and remove any extra parts, I also ad a bungi to keep it closed snug. Leave it at the door to the aircraft and then it will be waiting when you deplane.

Personally, once my youngest was 3-4 I found it much easier to rent. WDW now offers a mult day rental with a small discount and express line, no waiting. I like the rentals, esp if you don't need one at the resort, for a few reasons. Ease on and off the transportation, I often travel alone with my two dd's and the logistics of taking the stroller on/off the bus, tram boat etc are not worth it. Easy replacement, if it gets wet, lost, stolen just present your recept and get a new stroller. Once you get a stroller for the day you don't have to pay at the next park.

I also find it easier to navigate MK esp in the am without a stroller, you don't do as much walking esp in fantasyland and its easier without. By the evening and especially at Epcot my dd's would need a stroller so we would just get one then.

Have fun

Hi,
We usually bring our own stroller but last year ours broke
so we rented a double from Disney. Our 7 year old liked it
because she also got to ride with our 3 year old . Here is a
picture of the stroller.
The disney stroller worked fine but I still liked having ours better.
Good luck

Is that a fan on the stroller?

Hi,
Yes that is a clip on fan. You can find it on this website.
The fan worked great, it runs off of batteries. We
bought it from one step ahead, but I don't see it on
their website anymore. I did a search and found it on
the site in the link. Good Luck

What a great idea! Thanks for searching for me.

I took both my niece and nephew when they were 4 (both are now 6) and brought down a double stroller. We check it right at the gate before we got on the plane and once we got off it was there waiting for us. It was nice to have going to and from the parks, especially when we stayed out late and both kids fell asleep before we got back to the hotel.

Last year the kids were a little older and we rented from the parks just when they needed them (Epcot).
