Stroller recommndations

I will be traveling to WDW in September with my 3 yr. old son and I plan to bring a stroller as opposed to renting one at the park. I absolutely hate the stroller that we are currently using and am using this trip as an excuse to purchase a new one. I have a Peg Parago now and I HATE HATE HATE it! I am looking for a lightweight, easy to maneuver stroller that reclines and has room underneath for some storage. (A drink holder would also be nice Most importantly, I need something that will withstand 7 days at Disney -- I would really appreciate any recommendations you may have. THANKS!

My recommendation is to rent a Disney stroller and leave your nice new stroller at home. The reason for this is because you have to leave your stroller outside every attraction and I would fear something happening to it.

We take a cheap umbrella stroller with us for the airport and for Disney Marketplace, but outside of that we rent, rent, rent and we really like WDW strollers. I believe they are comfortable for the child and they have an overhang to shade the child. They also give you an identification sheet to put on your stoller with your name on it so nobody takes your stroller.

I would really try the WDW strollers - you won't regret it

I think most strollers are pretty good...that being said, Peg Perego is supposed to be one of the best!!! (Not that I own one...too expensive).

Here's my take on a stroller for WDW.

1) Whatever you buy...get your son used to it. We rented a stroller ONE day, and my dd was so uncomfortable in it that we left the park and returned to the hotel to get hers!!!

2) Don't spend a fortune on it...remember, you are leaving it unattended frequently. Ours would often get "mystery spills" on it when we left it places. Plus, the park just gets them dirty!

Cosco is the cheapest brand made (cost wise), but it also had the "design" (fabric) that I wanted for my DD...so, it is the one we purchased. It has been a WONDERFUL stroller!! It has taken us on one trip to WDW, and three trips to Disneyland...and, it is STILL going strong (DD is now 27 months). It does have a drink holder as well as a pretty big basket below. We bought it at Walmart, and I do not remember what we paid, but it wasn't much!! At that rate, you don't care what the airline does to it, or if it gets spilled on, rained on or whatever other "mystery" items end up on it!! We have washed the fabric on ours several times, and it still looks great!!!

I'm sure there are a LOT of good ones out there...but, we have been very happy with this one!!

I used a Kolcraft lightrider, that I have had for some time for my 3 year old. She was a little big for it, but it served it's purpose. I purchased it at Sears on sale for around $30.00 about a year and a half ago. It's lightweight, put perfect for what you are looking for. I went through the same decision making for our trip last November. This stroller worked out great and is still going strong. We rolled it on the monorail and folded for the bus rides.

You can put a cupholder on any stroller, get one from BRUS. It's flat-out foolish to base a stroller choice on an add-on like a cupholder when so many other factors are WAY more important.

I'm presuming that your Peg is not a Pliko, which is an excellent all-around travel stroller for any age child, though it is rather heavy. Travel strollers are not going to have a large basket area, and strollers with a large basket area are not going to fold really compactly. You have to decide what is most important to you.

One thing your Peg does do that most cheap strollers will not do with a 3 yr. old is steer easily; when it comes to suspension, you get what you pay for. On cheap strollers, you have to go for really big wheels if you want to be able to steer a heavy load, but a stroller with large wheels will be a PITA on busses and trams.
If you get a compact stroller, make sure it has double wheels on the back as well as the front.

A Combi will probably be too short at this point. Most of the higher-end Macs would be good, but if you don't want to spend that much, an Inglesina Swift or an even cheaper Chicco Caddy might suit you (with the add-on basket, of course.)

I have a Chico Caddy and used it at WDW. It runs around $50, reclines, manuvers easily, folds easily, is lightweight, comes with a carry sack and rain cover, and has a small sunshade. Only downfall is that is doesnt have a basket or cup holder, but problem solved. I got a cup holder at BRUS as well as a mesh bag that hangs from the back. It looks small, but it will stretch. I got a diaper pad (one that holds diapers and wipes), a few light jackets, snacks, souvenirs, 2 resort mugs, and sons cup in it. The other nice thing about this stroller is that I have loaded a bag on the back and it will not tip backwards when my son is not in it (of course not super heavy, but its better than most umbrella strollers). If youre tall, you may want to skip it though. Im 5'10" and its a little short for me, but taller than most umbrellas. You can get handle extenders at One Step Ahead, and maybe BRUS. Hope this helps!

I have a MacLaren Quest that I'm bringing. I had a smaller Graco one, but my daughter hated it. The handles were also kind of low and hurt my back. She loves the Quest so much that she falls asleep without any problems in it if she's tired. She even tries to sit in it when she doesn't want to walk anymore. It was a little expensive, but her comfort is worth it to me.
