Stroller Recommendation PLEEEEASE

Can anyone recommend a good stroller for a 3 (almost 4 year old)
my DS is already 42 inches and weighs about 43 lbs (in the morning before he eats). We'll be going in September so I imagine he'll be a little taller and heavier. I was looking for a stroller that would recline enough for him to maybe take a nap or at least be comfortable in. All the strollers I've seen are for a 40-45lb weight limit, does this really matter. Has anyone been able to find a good stroller for their child of this weight and I don't want to spend a fortune either. Any and all suggestions would be helpful.

My son has about the same stats, and there really are fewer choices there. It's bulky, but you may want to consider a jogging stroller. It's sturdier and will hold more weight, and is roomier. The smaller stroller are really hard to steer with 40+ lbs in them, even if they do support the weight.

Stacy will that really work? I just looked at the Chicco Caddy and it has a weight limit of 33lbs. I just bought the Chicco Capri (very similar) and it's posted weight limit is 37lbs. That would be great though if it really will hold a higher weight child (like mine to last for all those disney trips we'll be making )

The Combi Soho has a 45lb weight limit, reclines, canopy, basket, only weighs 11lbs. Like pp stated though, not sure how it handles with heavier child in it. And it's about $100.

I have also read that some of those jogging strollers are fairly easy to resale and get some of your $$'s back out of. The Insteps were one brand I heard are pretty easy to resale, if you don't mind doing that. You could do ebay, or sale at a consignment shop. Just a thought.

Have you thought about just renting a stroller in the parks? I've always done this with my now 5 and 7 yr olds, its worked great for us.

Yes, we thought about it, but we wanted something a little more comfortable and with more storage, we also need for another trip we are taking. ( Also I didn't want to have to pay the daily rental fee will be there for 10 days), but thanks anyway.

If this is your last child and you don't plan on using a stroller much from this point on, I would say to rent one. I know that many people stuff their children into strollers that they are too heavy or too tall for, but I would be afraid that the stroller wouldn't be able to handle the weight. The weight limits are there for a reason and I personally wouldn't want to risk my child getting hurt.

If you have or are planning on having more children, I would highly recommend buying a Maclaren. They are expensive, but well worth the money. According to their website, the current models can hold up to 55 lbs and are built for a taller child. I believe mine only holds up to 45 lbs (2001 model) but I absolutely love it. They push easy and even my 6ft 2in DH can push it without bending over. We looked and looked last year and couldn't find any strollers that DD wasn't hitting her head on besides the maclarens, but if you aren't having any more children, it might not be worth spending the money on an expensive model. Strollers4less.com sometimes has good deals on them if you are interested.

You could also rent from an offsite company such as A Baby's Best Friend. They should have a jogger for you, and it will cost less than renting in the parks.

Essentially, if you are buying and don't want to spend a lot; your only choice for anything really useful and easy to push for a child that size is to buy used. Take a look out on Ebay and see if you can get a used Pliko; it would be your best choice; but new it will cost you around $200. Second choice would be a smaller jogger with a swivel front wheel if you can find one.

I would reccomend the stroller I have. Let's just say with my first born, DD now 6yo, I had 6 different strollers. I could never find one that had everything I wanted!!LOL. Well when I had my DS, now 14mo I knew exactly what I wanted. And this stroller has not dissappointed me!! It has been to Hershey park twice and WDW once! I use it everyday. My DD even fits in it and she is small for her age, only about 42lbs, but she is tall. She used it while DS was in the Baby Bjorn while at WDW. It wasn't even hard to steer with her in it. I absolutely love the way it folds up to you, no going on the floor just to close it like so many other strollers!! It has storage underneath, cup holder for me, and it reclines!! The past three years we have taken the same stroller that I had intended to only use for one trip! My son was almost 2, 3 and 4 on our trips, and he is also in the upper percentiles for his age. I believe this last trip he was around 40lbs and 42 inches. It has held up well and fairly easy to maneuver (never really noticed it being too hard). Both me and my mom were able to push him well, she did most of the pushing as I had the other in a sling, and she is a smaller lady about 5ft and 100lbs. We only payed $29, it is a Graco LiteRider. It folds up easy and has a nice basket on the bottom, and it has a semi recline. It is more lightweight and compact than the other Gracos. I also just purchase the Pliko and love it, but not sure if I will take it on this trip, I would hate to ruin it with all the walking and in and out out of buses we do! I love the pliko but it is definitly more money! I would recommend going to a local store that sells some strollers with your child and "test drive" them there!
