In October my family and I will be traveling to DW. We will be flying with Delta so we know that we can only have 1 checked bag for each person which cannot be heavier than 50 pounds? My nephew will only be 2 then and we would like to bring our own stroller instead of paying to rent one everyday. How would we go about doing this? Will we have to count it as a piece of luggage and pay the extra money for it? Or since he is only 2 does he get his own piece of checked luggage? Since we are paying the money for his ticket we figured he would get a piece of checked luggage also :confused3
I was just wondering if anyone knew how this would work out for us? Or if there is a way to rent one once we get to Disney. I know you can pay money each day to do so. But we will be there for 9 days and that is going to add up to rent one each day. So we are just trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Yes, if the child is a ticketed passenger he gets the same luggage allowance as any other ticketed passenger.

Prior to the new luggage charge rules, checked strollers and checked car seats did NOT count towards your luggage allowance. This has not changed. You can still check 1 bag each (including one bag for the 2yo) AND your stroller at no charge (assuming none of the checked bags exceed 50 pounds each).

Ok thank you so much. So we just check it and put it with the rest of our luggage to be put "under" the plane? Sorry lol I don't know the correct terminology. I am scared to death of flying so i have tried to stay away from it as much as possible! But this October I have no choice..lol

You can do this....
...or...
If you want to use your stroller in the airport, you can also gate check it. I had my first experience with this in January and, thanks to the DIS, I knew exactly what to do. :disrocks: We had an umbrella stroller (MacLaren Volo, to be exact) and we kept DD2 in it until just prior to boarding. When you get to the gate (hopefully at least 30 minutes before your flight) you tell the gate agent that you would like to gate check your stroller. They will (maybe, I guess each airline's procedures may vary) give you a gate check ticket that you attach to the stroller. Then, when you board, you leave the stroller at the end of the walkway nearest the plane. They will store it underneath the plane and when you get to your destination, it will be waiting for you on the walkway just as you exit the plane. You'll then have it to navigate your youngster through the airport...which might be easier or more difficult since it is one more thing to maneuver.:confused3

We used a gate check bag for the stroller, recommended by someone here.:worship: Here is the link if you are interested...HTH

I actually got mine from WalMart (online, not available at a store near me)

Thank you so much. That is the answer we were looking for..lol...I am def. going to have to get one of those bags for my sister in law and brother for the stroller! And since we are using garden grocer for his needs while down there that means his checked luggage on the way back will be full of souvenoirs  Thanks again!!
