DH and I have no children, so I have never paid attention to stroller information. However, my sister is bringing her 4 yr. old for the first time in March. If she decides to use a stroller, what should she know about them? Like where to get them, cost, etc?

You can get them at the front of each park.

MK - its on your right as you walk in under the train station. (they just recently moved it to this spot - it used to be on the left - it works out better where it is now)
AK - It's on your right as your walk in
Epcot - it's on the left past the legacy tiles or at the International Gateway (you will need one at Epcot)
MGM - on your right as you walk in, it looks like a gas station

The cost is $10 a day and once you pay the $10 you keep your recipet and it's good for all the parks that day.

Also consider that the walks from the bus stops to your room may be far depending on the resort and the walks to the buses / trams / etc from the front gates is a little ways esp for a sleepy tired child.

We have rented a few times, but I finally got a nice umbrella stroller that doesn't kill my back and folds nice and easy. So it's now easier to bring our own.

Or your sister can do what I did, twice in fact. Our kids were out of strollers, ages 4 and 7 or so our first two trips but our youngest would have had a hard time without one, especially to keep the sun off of her. I bought a used umbrella stroller with sunshade and small basket underneath at a rummage sale for $5 (the second year I bought one for $8). We used it and then as we were leaving the parks for the last time we gave it to another family on their way in. That way we didn't have to transport it back on the plane. Cheap and easy!

This is what we have, a little pricey yes but it's perfect for the parks and when you calculate how much you are going to pay for rentals it pays for itself almost. It folds up easily and it lightweight and has a sholder strap for carrying , the handles is high enough you don't have to hunch over to push it. Only thing I don't like is it doesn't have a cup holder.

If you rent a stroller at one park that does not mean you are guarenteed a stroller at the next park.
No, if they're out you won't be able to get one.

I always preferred to take my own for use in areas outside the parks. Our first trip though, we made the mistake of getting too cheap of a stroller. After that we made sure that our stroller had a canopy, could recline, and had a basket underneath. We also looked for one with a little bit bigger wheels so we wouldn't have trouble turning it.

I took an umbrella stroller with a canopy and basket for my DS4 on our trip in August. It was better than renting one. I didn't want to have to carry a sleeping child once we left the park!
It was easy to fold and didn't get in the way on the buses.

buy a cheap umbrella stroller. use it all week. then throw it away when you are done.

it will be cheaper and cleaner. plus, it wont be so friggin BIG.
