We will be taking my son to Disney in December and he will be 10 months old (along with my other two boys who will be 7 and 5). The stroller that we are currently planning on taking is the Chicco Cortina - very comfortable for him, large basket, cup holders for everyone, an adjustable handlebar (husband is 6'3" and I am 5'3") - but more on the heavier side. We are traveling with my parents and my brother - so there will be 3 men to move the stroller on and off the buses. My thought is that comfort for my son along with convenience of all the things we love about it should outweigh the issue with getting it on and off the buses.

Interested in everyone's thoughts on what would be best and experiences (bad or good) that you have had.

I don't know anything about your individual stroller, but when we went to Disney with our 18 month old and 4 year old, we brought a double stroller (not a side-to-side one, but a one-in-front-of-the-other kind). I didn't have a problem loading it on the bus at all. My husband usually did it, but I did it, too. I really preferred having my DD comfortable and having all the great perks of my big stoller - large basket, canopy, drink holders, etc.

A citi mini single. I have the double, and it it's awesome. It has a full recline a mesh breather panel for hot days,peek-a-boo windows, the fold is one handed by pulling on a strap in the seat, and it is lightweight:)

If your son is comfortable in the Cortina, I say take it. We have one, but DS outgrew it around his first birthday (the seat back is pretty narrow). We loved it while he fit in it, though!

Take the stroller you and he are comfortable with. Looks like you'll have enough help folding and carrying it.

And your thoughts are right on track in my opinion. The vast majority of the time your stroller be used will be to/from the bus stops, in the parks, for naps, etc. You may spend an hour on the busses all day long (MAYBE).

Make your decision on what will make your day easier in the parks, not for the two or three times you will board a bus all day.

Strollers on the bus are a PITA, BUT if you have a plan and help, you'll be fine.

The stroller MUST be folded up on the bus, so while you are in the queue, empty everything out and fold up the stroller.

I took our monstrous double jogger on our last family trip with the kids. DH handled the kids on the bus, I dealt with the stroller for 6 days. Some of the times I wished I never took it (mostly at park close and packed buses), but on the load in to the parks, it wasn't bad, just cumbersome.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of your thoughts and advice - it really helps me with planning! Love my fellow Disboarders!

Just please please PLEASE get the stroller emptied and folded before you are at the door to the bus or stand to the side to do it. I beg you. It really stinks at the end of the day to get behind the family who doesn't prepare their stuff and all you want to do is get on the bus... but you are blocked while they suddenly realize they have to remove the baby from the stroller and fold it. :sad1:

Also, know how the stroller folds before you get to Disney. The bus stop is not the time to try and figure it out! :lmao: Though that does at least give us some comedic relief...

Don't sweat it! We use a City Mini Double and have no issues on and off the busses. When the buss is crowded it's a little harder, but no biggie! And I agree - last year with our 3yr old and 15m old, as soon as we hit the bus line I put the baby on my back or front in our Kinderpack carrier or Ergo, grabbed my diaper bag and Ava's hand and DH folded the stroller and got it ready - by the time we were to the front we were settled and ready to go.

Great advice - Thanks everyone! And I will definitely make sure we are completely unloaded before getting to the front of the line. I don't want us to be the family that everyone is talking about on the disboards.:santa:

I'd take the one you have. I have taken big singles, big doubles, and now I have an aria twin. Yea, they can be a pain, but it's worth it in the parks. Usually if the busses are real packed we try and wait for the next one so DH isn't trying to push to the back of the bus with a stroller or having people climb over the stroller.
