stressed about Chef Mickeys

We were NOT impressed with Chef Mickeys at all!! The food was "ok" but nothing worth the money we paid, we didnt buy the pics they took because again-not much money- and the Characters came to each table but it seemed so impersonal they were there 30 seconds and gone!

1900 Park Fare was our FAVORITE meal during the entire trip! Noone was barely there, we had Minnie, Mary Poppins, Pluto and the Mad Hatter to ourselves! Minnie sat with us at our table, cut my daughters food, fed it to her, she was LOVING it! THATS a Character meal-and I realize its rare for them to spend THAT much time with families, but it does spoil you when they spend only seconds at the other places!
D.D.

I also wouldn't stress to much about the "perfect" trip or it being your last night.

If you want romantic evening, I think the California Grill at the Contemporary would be good. (It's the top floor of the tower and a great spot to view all of the different fireworks displays at the various parks at night.)

Artists point at WL is supposed to be very good too. (not sure of fish and veggie dishes though) but the atmosphere there at the Lodge is very romantic and you could walk out along the lake afterwards.

Well, now I don't know what to do! I thought Chef Mickey's was supposed to be pretty good!

I can totally relate to wanting your trip to be fabulous, AND I can totally relate to trying to convince someone else that Disney is magical and fun and worth the trip.

All the best to you on your vacation! Now back to hammering out mine...

Believe me when I tell you I can relate to the desire to save a few bucks, however, if you and boyfriend skip a couple of nights out to dinner at home you'll have made up the cost and haven't spent money that wouldn't already be gone. On the other hand, there's an inexpensive ice cream social at EPCOT at 3pm in the Garden Grill in The Land with Mickey Mouse (and you get to watch all the cute kiddies get sticky and have fun).

The way I try to look at it is that I know I'm going to get gouged (generally)at WDW but it's the overall experience only available there that I'm paying for and I've opted to accept that reality. That doesn't mean I'm not always looking for ways to find the best values but I'm choosing not to fret over paying extra for a (possibly) mediocre meal. Frankly, there's no way I'm gonna eat $18.00 worth of breakfast before I go touring anyway (but I do have a little boy who will love it and get a special introduction to the world of characters). Of course, everyone has their own circumstances and you know yours best. Good luck in making your decision.

Oh, and there's another option with Minnie, Goofie, Chip and Dale at Cape May Cafe in the Boardwalk Area. You may be able to get a breakfast reservation there and I hear it's arguably the best character buffet in WDW.

There is also a character breakfast at the Polynesian that is just a monorail away from the MK!

We did breakfast at Chef Mickey's and it was great!

Could you find a more economical, gourmet breakfast... yes, but being surrounded by the characters was a blast. This kids (4 and 8) loved it and so did DW and I (and I'm 38!).

The typical breakfast fair was fun food, for us and for the kids. DS doesn't eat much no matter where he is, but it was all part of the magic.

For a great romantic meal (as romantic as it can get at a Disney restaurant, try a secluded table at the Portobello Yacht Club at DTD. The food and service were excellent.
